I love a good fight BUT....

I am really amazed at all the offened people around here latley. I love this forum. I read faithfully every morning. I'm hooked on oes.org.

At first I was loving all the fur flying. It's like a train wreck, you can't help but look. But now I want my happy family back!!!

I admire and respect all of the strong opinions given by all of us OES lovers (members). I know an occasional GUEST can stir the pot. But generally speaking, we are all on the same side. We want what is best for our furry friends.

I truly hope nobody leaves our happy home just because of a difference in opinion. It would be like forum divorce. Who gets custody of me?

We need every member we can get! Everybody has there own view of things and hearing other folks give their 2 cents can open the eyes of someone needing guidance or support.

Can't we just get along?

I agree.

I guess this is just a bottled up "must" every 6 months around here. By "must" ...I mean it seems to happen like clockwork every so often and then the family makes up. Occasionally we have someone who decides to disown the family, but it's rare. I rather it never happen, of course, but I am also surprised how little it does!
I am happy  I get the sheepies if there's a divorce  .

I see the dust settling. Think of it as an Italian family, or Greek family, or Hispanic family...lots of passion flying everywhere and then in a blink, all is well. We're kinda like the characters on My Big Fat Greek Wedding. Lots of noise, lots of opinions, but all mixed in with passion and good intentions.

(None of the cultural references above where derogatory. Just a glimpse from my childhood.)
I've said for years that the study of forum behavior would be a spectacular thesis project for a PhD in sociology, phsychology or organizational development.

This is so normal from what I've seen over the period of 10 years of different types of forums that it really doesn't even phase me. It's a cycle - this isn't the first and it won't be the last. Ain't no thing, jellybean. :D
 Aint no thing, jellybean!!!! I love it!!! Like I say, 'what's the big DILL (deal) pickle?'

This is the only forum I have ever joined. And I love it here!!
It's good to hear we ARE just a family that squabbles occasionally. I understand that!

Oh Dee, your funny! Here we go fighting over the sheepies!!!   (No, I get the sheepies!!) Where is the stick my tongue at Dee emoticon?

I love that :D . Seriously, Joah's right, it does happen, people get angry and quit. The members who have been around for a long time "know" each other well enough to realize what is actually being said in a post. Sometimes newer members haven't been here long enough to "know' anyone and it can be difficult to tell if they are trying to be funny, sarcastic, or just plain mean spirited. With a large group like ours there will always be some arguements about something :(
Hey, who are you calling large?

Not you Master Ron :D
Well, as a relatively "long timer" my opinion (and again it's only my opinion) is that one of the problems is that the "current controversy" is that it has not been allowed to die a natural death. It has blossomed and spilled over into a number of different posts that like "the song that never ends" just don't seem to die.

I'm one for expressing my opinion and then moving on but there seem to be some expecially stubborn people who just won't let it go.

I think we should just agree to disagree and move on to a different subject.

This post doesn't have any disagreements in it, in fact, it's about not arguing. Did you mean to respond to another post?
She was referring to the tubal ligation post issue, I believe.

Me too! I've stayed so far away, I am not even sure that I know what this one was about. I have a guess that maybe it was the sheepiedoodle thread. . .

Nice weather we're having today. A little cool and rainy. Unusual for Boulder, but pleasant. . .

I've always said, "If you can't take the heat, stay out of the kitchen."

When we join a forum, we should realize that not all opinions are going to be the same as our own. When one person replies opposite of the majority that doesn't make them wrong (or right).

Different opinions are what gives us the opportunity to look at things in a different perspective. That doesn't mean they're trying to change our minds, or are trying to.

I don't understand why people are so quick to think that a difference of opinion is a fight, or a heated discussion. And, I don't understand why it bothers people about how long the conversation goes on. If you're no longer interested, just don't go back to that room.
