My little girl is looking out for my little girl

Our daughter Sarah graduated from college on May 10 with a degree in secondary education - Spanish. It was a glorious day for a wonderful ceremony for our youngest baby. It was both a happy day (8 straight years of college bills done for two kids :yay: ) and a bittersweet day (our baby was all grown up  ).

Through our happiness, we kept watch as Drez got weaker and weaker. She tried to greet everyone as they came in the house but just couldn't keep up.

Our area, although it's wonderful to live in as settled adults with families, really doesn't offer the single young professionals much to do, unless they always want to be traveling to Philly or NYC. Sarah was ready for a change, so on May 19, she went down to VA for 2 interviews at 2 high schools.

The rest of that week was a horrible blur for us. "The" decision was made on May 20 and we lost our precious furbaby girl on May 22. Our house was like a morgue, even though we were preparing for Sarah's graduation party on May 24.

In the midst of the party prep and mourning, Sarah got a phone call from one of the high schools on May 23, offering her a job! As for housing, she has a friend who is also moving to that general area, so they will share an apartment. Everything is just falling into place perfectly.

Through it all, Sarah says she's been having dreams of Drez, where she has been taking care of Drez. I told her that now it's Drez's turn to take care of HER. Somehow, this makes us all feel better.

Life will be SO different when Sarah moves on. Although we've mostly known what it was like to be empty nesters, now we'll be full empty nesters, without our children AND our dog. After our vacation in August, we will start looking in earnest for our next "child."

So - my little girl is looking out for my little girl. I couldn't ask for anything more!

That is a great story!! Very cool!!

P.S. you can come down and mother me for a while if you want!
What an emotional time for you but a great blessing to know that Drezzie is 'lending a paw' in your daughter's good fortune.

Both of my girls have left home - one is married and the other moved to London after University. Whilst I miss having them around - it is - dare I say it - nice and quiet at home - and soooo tidy! Whenever they visit they seem to 'explode' in the hallway - coats, shoes, bags everywhere! Its great to see them though of course!!
Congrats on your daughter's new job. A lot of transitioning going on in your life right now, brought tears to my eyes. Empty nesting is one thing to deal with, but with the other things it makes it hard. I am happy to hear your daughter is still seeing Drez, I'm sure it is comforting to all of you. Wish your Daughter good luck in her new life.
I hope your daughter wakes up frome each Drez dream with a smile on her face!

Yes, have your vacation, enjoy yourselves! There will be new furbabies to love, but right now you two need some time alone.

Wishing only the best for all of you! xoxo
What a bittersweet time for you now. I love that you feel Drez is looking out for your daughter. Congrats to your daughter and her new job. And congrats to you for putting two kids through college!! Your job was well done.
I am so glad that Sarah dreams of Drezzie....it means that there is still a connection....Drezzie will be Sarahs dog guardian angel...what more could a person want!!
Congrats to Sarah on her job!!
She does have angel Drez watching over her. 8)
What a wonderful Guardian Angel!!
Sniffle...
:-)

Congrats to Sarah on her new job!!

I think Drezzie will visit everyone from time to time . . . . she visited me that first Friday when I was on my way to St. Louis! I made a wrong turn and the GPS told me to turn on Dresden Lane. I did, but then I had to stop to compose myself.
OMG my GPS did the same thing on Sunday!!! I was driving to a wine tasting and I was thinking that this didn't look like the right way and all of a sudden the GPS changed and said to turn right on Dresdan Lane and all of a sudden you could see the place off in the distance! 8O

Why doesn't this surprise me? She wanted Auntie Jil to know she arrived at the bridge safely.

And this was my girl thanking Mandy for the ribbon from Suzi and to let her know all was now well.

I swear I can still smell her in the house.
I love your stories. This past weekend my hubby and I where out driving looking at houses and we turned down a street called Dresdon. I commented to my hubby that is the name of one of the sheepies who recently grew angel wings. I had never met her in person, but loved seeing the stories about her.
She's everywhere! And that's as it should be.

Leave it to Drezzie to wander around the country visiting folks. :D

This leads me down memory lane to the day I chased her around your yard, Chris. She wasn't moving fast, but she was a girl on a mission and she kept looking over her shoulder at me and I swear she was laughing at me! Mmmm, that's a nice memory.
None of these visits surprise me at all. That was the epitome of my girl - she loved EVERYONE! And now that she's pain free, she's in her glory just traveling around and meeting everyone Mommy always told her about.

Wow, how I miss that girl!
Could you ask her to stop by and find out why Mulligan is so itchy and help us figure out how to help him? :(

Aweee... well look at the payback. Everyone loved her just as much back! Congrats to your daughter!!
