Red hair

Argh---
We just picked up a rescue that is stained
in red clay!
Is there anything I can do to clean his coat or do
I need to start over??
He is not matted...may need a little scissor cut but,
he is red!
I scrubbed him tonight in the bath tub but, I think he is
still yellowish!

HELP!!!!!!!!!!!

You might try some of that whitening shampoo that they're discussing here-

As for whitening shampoo...I've had the best luck
with a combination I make up myself. I take an empty 22 oz bottle of liquid
dish soap, fill it 1/2 full of Econogroom (straight from the bottle), add 10
"pumps" of Clairol Shimmer Lights & fill the rest of the bottle with water. Mix
well before using.

I couldn't find the Clairol product so I went with Pantene-

It reminds me of Chris Christensen's White on White.

I've heard if the hair is real dry it will absorb the bluing agent.
It hasn't happened here but thought you should know!
You might accidentally end up with red/white/blue

And don't be tempted by the Shimmer Lights!! It's not a
problem to use it diluted as Marilyn said but NEVER straight!!! Toby was blue
for about a week after I tried that one!

Hugs to Grady :D
I think a rescue being red/white/blue might help to get him adopted since it's just before 4th of July!

If the red doesn't come out, go with it girl!

:P :P 8) 8)
If you can't find Shimmer Lights, a similar product called Light Blue Shade works really well. It will also stain blue if the coat is dry or if you don't massage it in well and rinse it out fairly quickly LOL
When Chicus arrived here from Brazil, his elbows were stained really red. While I was able to lighten it up a bit with blueing shampoos, it never became white. As it grew, I just kept trimming the ends until we had white fur again.
HEY..... What's Wrong with Red Hair??

(I'm a redhead!)
