Can we turn the negative vibe back to positive?

I realize that controversey is a good thing, but the past few days, I've not wanted to log on because of the negative vibe on the forum. Items can be disputed and people's opinions expressed, but I hate the negative feeling going on in SO many topics. Checking the forum used to be relaxing for me, now it stresses me out!

So, Mrs. J, you have been a little quiet, what's new with you? Any more news on moving? How are the little ones doing?

Jill, I love you new aviator. Bear is so funny. I didn't get to meet you at 'palooza, but saw your boys. All three of them! And all three are good looking!

Did anyone else see the pics of Zorro? What a nice looking guy! And Echabod got a home! We should all be so happy for him!
Respond to this topic here on forum.oes.org
I was wondering where you were! Why didn't you come over and say hi? I was looking forward to meeting you after we talked about our computer nerd husbands. :)

Bear had an excellent time and so did Clyde. I've never seen them so wiped out!
Hubby didn't get to make it. He works in insurance, and was sent to Colorado to assist in the torando disaster. I was with my mom, so I didn't get to do too much talking, she is a little unsocialable  .

I was in khaki boy shorts and a green 3/4 sleeved shirt. Oliver was the one PULLING me down the road, trying to pass everyone (we got behind on a poop stop).

I was so disappointed we didn't get to meet. We'll have to plan on it another time.
Well we surely don't want you to be stressed right now. Maybe we can come up with some jokes or something for ya! I hear so many good ones, swear I'll remember them, and then forget them an hour later. It's getting worse with age. ;)

Mr. J leaves thursday night for TX! I don't want him to leave because that leaves me to go to all the briefings necessary to get out of the military, plan to pack here, sell the house, and take care of the kids. I hope he has good luck! It's all I think about. :)

Any more news to tell us about your life? :)

Ditto. Ditto. Ditto. I've been afraid to look at the postings lately.

Has anyone ever tried a home made Mojito?
Because of Jill, I sometimes call my horse "fatty fatty fat pants."

More humor to lighten the atmosphere around here.
I love the relaxing nature of the forum - but I think some discussion is useful. I agree with Dee that the sheepie doodle posting got way out of hand way too soon, but I think we can and should continue to discuss - not berate or try to belittle other issues.

yes some people are closed minded and choose to believe their way is the only way - but if we don't discuss options how can reasonable people come to learn what is best?
heck, for a while, i called myself ''fatty fatty fatty pants" 8O

im growning my hair long...its about an 1/8''..i only have 20 7/8'' left to go! 8O

Is this a for real job?? Or just an interview?? Austin???
It's a job fair in Austin. While TX is one of the possibilities, we're not sure where he will end up. He will be flying to interviews all over the U.S. (assuming he has interviews the 3 wks he's there). If I can just get the guy to study a "littttttle" bit harder on those interview questions every night until friday. If things don't go well (good enough job offer), then thankfully there will be one more in August.

On a related, yet unrelated note, thanks to St. Louis stressing him out, Fatty Fatty Fatpants hardly ate and he's under 100 pounds again. Which is good because (and I'm making the official announcement now) because he's getting cut down this weekend and every bulge will show! You all know how it pains me to do so but his hair is so long and I think it would make this summer easier on both him and me. It seriously upsets me to do it but I think it'll be better since I have so much going on and I don't want to have to worry about all that coat and I don't want him to suffer because of it. It'll be a nice fresh regrow of adult coat which will be nice, too.

That being said, I still don't like it! Booo! Hissssss!
oh I'm with you! I know I need to get Tonks and Luna trimmed down, but I really don't want to!

Our house is old, and has a hard time staying cool in the summer. So I know the short cut is the best thing for them. And I know it will help with all the little tranistional coat mats they are getting. But they look so pretty with thier coats!!!!!

On another related, yet unrelated note, we've been watching Lacy and her eating very closely for the last couple months....boy was she packing on the pounds. She's a sneaky food stealer, so we changed the feeding routine up so we could monitor her intake and decided if that didn't help, well heck we're going to have to take her in to get her thyroid checked out, 'cause my word she's getting heavy. Friends and family kept commenting on her Reubenesque figure...gosh, she's gotten big!...so surprised how a dog that FAT could be so agile...

Well it's just so hot, it's time to give them all their summer dos. Cut her down to 1" on Sat. She miraculously lost 30 pounds. After 12 years of owning sheepdogs and having seen the surprising difference before, this time I was speechless. She's downright svelt!
i have plenty of jokes!
....i can't think of any right now, cause i'm so mad!
(that was just a joke!)
Ok, I'm trying to help I actually made a post. :clappurple: :go:

I've never made one, but I've had one. Very good on a hot day. Last night hubby and I grilled and had mai-ti night. It was fun!

Not too much going on with me. Getting settled in our new house.

OH! MY NEPHEW WAS BORN TODAY!!! He weighed 9lbs. 15 oz. 8O .

On a positive note, Rodney may have found a furever home. We are trying to figure out the logistics to get him from Baton Rouge to Ohio.

My husband is the KING of mojitos! He even planted mint last summer, so he could have the freshest mint possible.

And, he only uses Tommy Bahama white rum.

Yep...that's my Tony!

She didn't have to have a C-Section! I was really expecting her to have to since she isn't that big of a build. She called at 6:30 this morning and said Justin was born at 5:30. I can't believe how big he is! I'm so excited to see pics of him (fingers crossed for rolls!). She said he has thick black hair. I'm sure that will change to blonde curls like his sisters hair in no time.

EVERY time I clip the girls down I feel bad! I'm procrastinating right now because they're so cute and fuzzy... http://oesusa.com/index.131.jpg and the weather hasn't gotten too hot yet. I know... their hair is NO where near as long as Clyde's but I'm brushing them out once a week so we're getting pretty close. I can't wait to see pictures... take befores and afters! Both of you will enjoy this new freedom and the nice thing is... it always grows back.

Wondering if I got MY hair cut if I'd drop 30 pounds. :lmt: Can I make an appointment with you? Maybe it's your technique...

Leaving you with a funny that a friend sent me...
where does she get these things!?!

A little boy opened the big family Bible. He was fascinated as he fingered through the old pages.
Suddenly, something fell out of the Bible. He picked up the object and looked at it. What he saw was
an old leaf that had been pressed in between the pages.
'Mama , look what I found,' the boy called out.
'What have you got there, dear?'
With astonishment in the young boy's voice, he answered, 'I think it's Adam's underwear!'
Congratulations on your precious new nephew! :excited: :clappurple: :go:
My husband is the KING of mojitos! He even planted mint last summer, so he could have the freshest mint possible.

It was the only herb I watered on a regular basis. BTW, only a true pacionado will use the original spearmint and not just mint. What does he use?
hmm spearmint for the herb garden it is.
Knowing Tony...it is probably spearmint. He's a perfectionist. I don't drink Mojitos...I'm a Chivas girl!

Texas is the BEST thats where my hubby and I met
Congrats on your nephew!

Jill, congrats on Clyde losing a fatty to his name. I CANNOT believe you are cutting him, though. I can't wait for the post that says, WHY did I do this to him

Darcy, your hair must be almost FLOWING by now 8)
>>>Admits to not knowing what a Mojito is.

Please don't let it be like the time my friends mom offered me some "hollyhocks" when I was 16 and I replied, "no thanks I just ate".

We always burst out laughing at the memory of that day. Oh sheesh!

Or another time when meeting someone I met the week before and said , "I feel stupid as I don't remember your name". She said, "you should as it's the same as yours". OMG!!!!! I swear I must not have heard her name. (I told MaryAnn our new member that story when meeting her in person for the first time). Good thing I haven't forgotten her name..LOL

Anyhow back to Mojito's....what the heck are they?

Here is a recipe:
3 fresh mint sprigs
2 tsp sugar
3 tbsp fresh lime juice
1 1/2 oz light rum
club soda

In a tall thin glass, crush part of the mint with a fork to coat the inside. Add the sugar and lime juice and stir thoroughly. Top with ice. Add rum and mix. Top off with *chilled* club soda (or seltzer). Add a lime slice and the remaining mint, and serve.

They are awesome to drink in the summer.
OOps the previous was just what HAPPENS when you have a mojito. The following is the recipe but the hip action is a MUST -I can demonstrate at Natl  :

This is also a good recipe. I copied it from the Bacardi site.
Bacardi Mojito (say 'mohito,' and enjoy!)

An easy mojito cocktail recipe to liven up your evening:

1.5 oz BACARDI Rum
12 fresh spearmint leaves
1/2 lime
7 oz club soda
2 tbsp. simple syrup
(or 4 tsp. sugar)

For the smoothest mojitos, gently crush mint leaves and lightly squeeze lime in a cool tall glass. Pour sweet syrup on top to cover and fill glass with ice. Add Bacardi Rum, club soda, and stir your emerging mojito well. Garnish with a lime wedge, a few sprigs of mint, toast, sip, and enjoy Bacardi mojitos with your friends.

For over a century, the Bacardi Mojito has channeled the spirit of the Caribbean. Use our original mojito cocktail recipe to bring a little of old Havana your mojito party or gathering

I change it up a bit and use coconut rum instead sometimes.

If you drink enough mojitos you will think you look like the girl in white.

TeeHee....that's funny Marianne!!! :D We have always had Hollyhocks on the farm I grew up on....and when we were kids...my sisters and I used to make dolls out of them. Wish I had a picture to post of that....they looked pretty cool though! 8)
Just wanted to say I sure love this pic of Yuki, what a happy boy :D

I am preparing to go off for a nice long week at the beach in NC. It's a long, long drive but I'm taking the whole family to meet up with our son who is stationed at Ft. Bragg. From there--we're going to the coast. He was supposed to be discharged during our visit in NC and come back with us but there's been a delay in paperwork, so he will be coming back to MN later this summer.

We NEVER take vacations to do anything other than visit grandparents, and I'm getting all of my adult children and husband to agree to this! (but hubby is grumbling about the cost. Too bad. I want a vacation!!!!!)

Only downside is that we have to board the furbies. Not sure how they will handle it. Archie has only been boarded at the vets before: necessary when we had to leave town because of my parent's deaths because Merlin was getting fragile. Sophie and Sherman have never been boarded before. I feel like a rat, even though it's a nice place, with play times, and the dogs will be together (as long as they all --and by this, I mean Sophie--behave themselves (herself).

This time next week, I expect to be looking a lot like a lobster.
it's a long weekend coming up here, so Monday off, no Mondayitis, we are going away with the puppers (Pee Machines) up to Jamieson in the high country. First time for the lil ones, taking two cars, I will have the babies in my car behind the dog grill in the back of the wagon and Hubby has Brie and Kelsey for the trip up to the Victorian high Country.

AM so looking forward to going been ages since I have been up there, we shall see how the puppers go in the wilds of the high country.

Watch out Koala bears the puppers are teething and looking for something new to chomp on 8)
I'm going to Alaska tomorrow for a week to see my sister and her new baby. I'm still packing and finding things to procrastinate. Like being oes.org. :)

I am soooooo  jealous!
It sounds like all of you are going on nice trips.

congrats on the new nephew!

Congrats on Clyde's new waist line...don't cut his hair (did i say that outloud?) :D

Good luck to Mr J in Texas.

Darcy, you will be Repunsal before you know it. :D

I have been busy, busy, busy...I switch to AT&T for my Internet trying to save money from cable...well my Internet went down Friday and had to wait until today for the new Modem to arrive. It has and now I'm happy.

We've been celebrating all weekend with Aaron/Asia's Birthday on the 30th and our 24th Anniversary on June 1st. Cake, cake and more cake...my hubby is in sugar heaven. lol Hubby and I built and office at my brother's business. He moved into another building and needed another office for my nephew. That went quicly and looks great. We've been working in the gardens and my hydrangia is BLOOMING....I will take pics when she is in full bloom...might be today. Pina the pineapple is growing so nice and straight..will take pics of her too.

Asia is getting big...25 inches at the Weithers...one inch shorter then Violet and only a year old. She sat on my lap in the Shaggy Shuttle last night...heavy too. Hubby couldn't believe she didn't squish me.

China was sick most of last week, but is doing much better today. So things are going pretty good.

The best news is Barney1 should have her baby today!!!!

Once you see how how easy it is for them in the summer & how they run around & play you are going to wonder why you didn't do it sooner for Clyde!. Get any mats out so she can use the 3-3/4 blade!

Oh, vacation. I wish it was time for mine. <admits being jealous> Hubby and I are going to Chicago to see the Cubs and Cards game in September and we'll hit up some museums while there. But, Septemeber is SO far away. I feel you about boarding. I'm very nervous about boarding Oliver. Not sure if we'll board or leave him with my sister.

Hope China is feeling better today. Seems like a lot of pups are sick right now.

Mrs. J, is the job fair for jobs in Texas, or jobs anywhere in the US? I'm still holding out for you to move to KC!

Mandy, I am finally getting around to watching your grooming videos. Very good, and I'm pretty excited to give it a try. Glad I wasn't there though, I think you would feel sorry for Oliver!

Barney1 is having her baby today! That is so exciting!
jcc, anywhere in the US that has a fortune 500 company. There were several places in minnesota coming to the conference.

crusty, have fun!!!!!! The weather is perfect right now esp. since it's not raining every single day (yet).

violet, China is smart. She just faked being sick since everyone around here was getting attn for birthdays and anniversarys but her!!!!! Notice China started to get better once everything was over with. ...just wanted extra hugs!

I'm very excited for Steph too.

Fozzie seems to be much better! No pukes and a FORMED POOP :D He's back to egging Annie on for play time too.

Going with my cousin and Mom to see Sex and the City on Sunday for my early birthday celebration.

We are gonig to the Big Island of Hawaii in November for 8 nts. I'm really looking forward to that trip :D Just thought I'd brag...
