The Unhealthiest Drinks Exposed

I came across this article and found the breakdown for some of beverages pretty interesting. Myself, I'm a firm believer in low to zero calorie beverages because I refuse to waste calories in a drink and it always surprises me when people drink "juice" after "juice" in a day and wonder why they don't lose weight. Just because you drink it, doesn't mean it doesn't have calories!

I also never got wasting calories on a "juice." Mr. J is notorious with this as he only drinks dr. pepper, oj, beer, crystal light (powder - not diet version) and monster (energy drink) ...the complains he needs to cut back on calories. I guess he tries with his diet cokes.
This is one of those things that I preach to other people but still can't give up my soda!
They are actually doing a whole program on this here at work.
i gave up soda..and i really dont miss it...i was never a juice person except at christmas...and then there was always champagne mixed in....
I was having heart palpitations about 15 years ago and went to see my doctor. We hadn't had a long relationship at that point... or ever, sadly.

He asked me: "What do you do for work?"
"I'm a programmer," I said.
He said: "When I was in college, we used to call programmers 'machines that turn caffeine into code.' How much coffee do you drink?"
"About 10 cups a day."
"How big is your cup?"
As I was saying "12 ounces" I was doing the math in my head and came to the answer at the same time he did:
"You're drinking about a gallon of coffee a day. Maybe you should cut back a little."

I did cut back to two "mugs" per day, and I was fine.

I was just was thinking about that while I was reading. Don't know why.
When my children were little the pediatrician recommended that they drink fruit juices to help them gain weight. It never helped, my kids are still thin as a rail, but it made me realize how easily one can drink their daily calorie intake.

BTW all the ones on the list are favorites of mine. Note to self: have your cholesteral checked.
I try to avoid calories in anything like drinks, or candies (like if I need Halls I buy the sugar free ones) so that I can enjoy those calories in something worth it LOL
I'm the same way. Unless it gets you drunk, I don't see the need to waste a lot of calories on drinks. Every once in a while it's nice to have a Sprite or something like that, but overall I'd rather have an extra piece of bread than a calorie-filled drink.
I stopped drinking Pop (soda) over a year ago and don't miss it a bit. I do, however, drink a lot of coffee and green tea now. lol I agree with all who said they would rather not waste the calories on a drink instead of food.
I don't see my Long Island Iced Tea on the list....I should be good then, right?? :D

It actually is on the comparison list if you click the link at the bottom of the article. Something like 700 calories vs. the 150 or in a Mojito. :(
700 calories probably because it has 5 shots in it.

I once read an article where a guy figured that drinking an ounce of Chivas had about 100 Calories in it, so if he put in enough ice into the drink his body would have to expend energy to warm the cold liquid to the tune of about 150 calories. So he figured that he should be able to sit around and drink Chivas all day and lose weight like crazy.

Then he realized that for food "Calorie" is spelled with a capital C meaning 100 calories, and his Chivas then had 10,000 calories in it. This depressed him, so he sat around all day drinking Chivas.
