An odd one

I have two puppies that i just got at eight weeks. Litter mates, a boy and a girl. They are normal puppies, Whining, accidents. fighting, mouthing. The boy is bigger than the girl.

Here is the odd behavior... The girl likes to lick and suck the boys private part. Not all the time, but every one in a while when they are wrestling or just sleeping together. she starts. The boy just sits there until I break it up.

I know we make more of it than it is, but it is odd behavior.

Naw - they do that in the whelping box too. You get used to their little - in people terms - perverted ways

Think about it: when they're newborn they're blind and deaf and their only senses are smell and touch as they start rooting around for the nipples. Some can be a little clueless and well, when you think about how a boy dog is built... Of course, most quickly figure out that this is not really conducive to nourishment, but I think some of them just use it as a kind of pacifier. I've never seen any do so at this age, but who knows?

Siblings, eh? You poor soul. Split them up now. That will also take care of the puppy freak show.

OMG I never thought I would ever see anyone or hear anyone mention this!! This is so funny. A friend of my family brought his puppy over here about 6 months ago and his puppy was doing that to Buddy. I was so dumbfounded! None of us had ever seen or heard of anything like that before! We all spent many hours trying to figure out what was going on. In the end we just figured he did it because it reminded him of Mom :)

Thank you for asking this question and thank you MAD DOG for answering it! Now I understand a little better:)
mr newfie puppy tried that once or twice with Morgan - notice I said TRIED ;)
It is normal for pups to do that... but I would still discourage it, distract her to something else... you don't want him to develop irritation or infection.

I had a whole litter of puppies and over half of them started doing that! I busted up their "fun" as often as I could.
It was a hilarious sight to see, but I couldn't stand seeing them act like that!!!! :(
They had plenty of things to chew and play with, but no way!!!

I'm not sure exactly when they started that, but when I took them in for their first shots. I told our vet, "I don't know how else to explain this to you, but I have a litter of faggets!"

"Every time I turn around I'm having to pull one off of another!" It doesn't matter - male on male, female on male, etc......... but, I'm afraid they're gonna injure the males, they go at it so hard!"

He laughed and gave me something like bitter apple to smear a little on the males......... and that solved the problem quickly.

"Sorry guys, funs over! You're gonna have to find something else to suck on!!! Poor little puppies!!!!
