Is it too early to start talking about the National?

I know it's a couple of months away but has anyone been working on their plans for the National?
Anyone other than Deb and I driving from the East Coast? (Don't back out on me Deb!!)
Does anyone have any activities for Deb to do in the car so she doesn't get antsy?
Who's doing the other shows the weekend before?
What hotel are you staying at?
Who's going to come and watch Toby be a jackass during agility?
How many outfits am I going to need for all those events? 8O
Respond to this topic here on forum.oes.org
I hope to go as a representative from the South East. I will cheer Toby on. I could hardly wait. Abi will have a brother and sister there also. Where is everyone staying?
Here's the link for the hotels that the National people have compiled: http://www.oldenglishsheepdogclubofamer ... l_form.pdf

We need some local people to tell us what's close and which is the coolest so we don't stay in the dorky hotel!
I could play bartender in the evenings since I will be the only one not tired.
Who says you won't be tired? I've got stuff for you to do! Bartending could be one of the things though....
I made a motel post somewhere. I will have to look for it later. If anyone finds it - please move the link!

Several of us are staying at the America's Best Value Inn. It is listed as the Days Inn in the OET. They are one and the same. It is reasonably priced, clean and has an indoor pool.
Phone # is 651-430-1300. Make sure you get the $5/dog/day rate - normal is $10.

We are doing conformation, obedience and rally in the national shows, as well as all the same in the Wednesday specialty show sponsored by our local club. I'm such a slacker.....

We aren't training enough for agility due to the new facility I work at not getting done enough to have our classes. So, I personally will cheer for each and every one of you in agility!! Promise!
Okay, America's Best. That's the one that was on the top of my list but wanted some sort of confirmation. A pool, bonus!!!!
Make Dawn make your reservation for you. She's the only one I know of who has gotten the listed rate to date!!

The hotel in question is the unofficial "performance hotel". (I.e. the "fun" hotel -  ) SOME people near and dear to me prefer to stay a little more upscale. Me? I spend so much $$$ on entry fees I'd stay in a tent if I thought I could get Sybil to refrain from eating it!!!!

There seem to be a fair number of conflicts built in so if you're showing your more versatile type sheepdog, buy new running shoes and be prepared to show in obedience and agility in a skirt...

Some of us already know what color knickers Sunny wears, whilst the rest of us are out shopping for something that won't embarrass us too badly when we go arse over teakettle over the end of the dogwalk and flash the spectators and mortify the poor judge. ("Madam, this was NOT in my judging contract!!!" )

For those of you who are mainly sheepdog sightseeing and not actually showing a dog in anything, or not in too many events at least, please note that the Health & Research Committee is looking for YOU to please help with their DNA blood drive. Seriously. Think about it por favor. I'm sure they'll schedule the drives so it won't interfer with gawking at Sunny's unmentionables or watching Toby to see if he remembers to get all ends through the tunnel...

That's the kind of info I am looking for!!
Dawn, day and time of your call? And do you remember who you spoke with?
Kristine, since you used Spanish - "por favor", I'd like to volunteer for the DNA blood drive. My husband might go and I'll volunteer him too if he goes. We'll be bartending in the evening so our days are open.
OK, I need to clarify something before I scare people away from the performance events. The skirts and unmentionables references are for people who are showing in breed as well as the performance events on days when scheduling is tight and they may not have time to change.

Dressy casual slacks, or at least slacks without dog slobber and muddy pawprints, along with a top you would not be embarrassed if your mother saw you in is perfectly sufficient for obedience. Dog dangling off your top is not ideal, but acceptable if the judge is nice, which they tend to be at specialties, and it is between exercises.

Image

Rally is slightly more relaxed, though Jim Caplan does cut a suave figure here in dress pants and short sleeved formal shirt - tie optional - if you don't tell his wife, Grace, I said so.

Image

This gentleman is no less appropriately attired, in fact, wisely so, in what was unseasonably hot weather:

Image

Agility is the least formal of all and, naturally, I take full advantage to dress in my style of choice - i.e. Slob:

Image

And then there are those of us who dress even for obedience CLASS:

Image

Deb actually looks like she could step right into a breed ring.

Mandy can give more details on proper breed ring attire, but no, you do not need to, nor should you necessarily wear a skirt into the performance rings unless you don't have time to change or you just, well, are exceedingly confident you can stay on your feet and not moon the judge

Muchas gracias, senora!

I'll be talking to a H&R committee member about this later today and get more details.

Where will you and your husband be bartending? The performance people tend to be very appreciative of people who volunteer to bartend and like to show up to lend our support....

Just wanted to mention that one concerned agility competitor more known for her creative breed attire than her running shoes has expressed serious concern regarding the 8 am agility start time. The good news is that they always run the excellent dogs first. The bad news is that we don't have too many out there at the moment.

Thank you, Kerry. The help really is much appreciated. Once I have more details I'll post and those of you who have kindly tentatively volunteered can see if it is indeed doable for you.

In my opinion...it's never too early to start talking about the national! As a matter of fact, this posted subject lit a fire under my "you know what" to call the motel I had made a reservation with over 2 months ago to confirm that they STILL have me listed for my reservation! PHEW! Thank goodness they still have my confirmation number etc!. I am staying at the Super 8. I called early for a room reservation because this year I am taking my 83 year old mother along! For the first time since I have started showing dogs (11 years ago) she will still be home when our national takes place. So if any of you see a gray haired, short, little old lady (retired 3rd grade teacher!!!) wandering around with a cane & a big smile on her face....please be patient when she asks you questions about your dogs! She's been going along to obedience class with me now & then to watch training. So I am sure she will enjoy all the performance events. And she's been to conformation shows before too but never even to a regional specialty. So I am sure seeing so many OES in one place at one time is really going to be an awsome experience for her. As for me...I am taking 2 dogs along. Both will be entered in conformation (one is a veteran) & one HOPEFULLY will be entered in Novice B. Can't do the shows on either end of the week due to working & travel time. But I am planning on doing the specialty in the middle of the week. Unfortunately I have no puppy living with me for the sweeps but if they have veterans I may enter her in that. The lady I co-breed & co-own with tho' has a puppy for sweeps so I guess I will have one in sweeps. Kristine....great idea you had posting those pix for attire. 8)

Ummm. I think it was on a weekday, in the middle of the day. I spoke with a man w/ an Indian (as in India) type accent. If he is the same one I talked with in person when LeAnne and I were checking out the motels,he is the manager.
Do you remember when that was Kristine? a few of us were emailing back and forth as we were calling in our reservations that day. I got the cheapest rate....... hence all the "  :" going on!

She's been known to hold dogs at ringside for us at times! Knowing her she'd probably have no qualms about helping in obedience either!
This is the outline of the schedule. More info about the show can be found at: Info about OESCA's 2008 National

Judging times will be added in once the schedule is announced, something they typically solidify once numbers are in. From what I see, there will be conflicts, so people entering multiple events need to take that into consideration.

I talked with someone on the H&R committee and this is what she told me about the DNA blood draw:

The blood draws I mentioned will take place 7-9 am on Wednesday - Friday in the grooming area for the breed judging. I warned her that depending on how early obedience starts on Wednesday and Friday - I'm going to guess at 8 a.m. start times, with Rally starting at 10 am - there could be conflicts for volunteers who are showing.

This is how it will work: there will be three roaming vets (OESCA members who have generously volunteered their services) and each vet will have three assistants who take care of the following:
1) make sure they have supplies
2) run the blood back to the main table periodically
3) the detail oriented individual who takes care of the paperwork and makes sure the right blood goes with the right dog's paperwork.

I warned her I didn't think people could necessasily commit until we see the actual judging schedule (times) and also that it may be that one person can only volunteer on these days, things like that.

I didn't mention that 7 a.m. sounds brutal even to a hardcore morning person   There is a method to their madness.

Anyway, the purpose of the draw is to collect DNA for CHIC for health research. IT IS VITAL FOR THE BREED. With the DNA, we (OESCA - on behalf of the breed - this is NOT just for OESCA member OES, any OES who is there will be asked to donate!!) have been invited to take part in a study already in progress on two cancers, including osteosarcoma (I have to check the other one). Also, it is desperately needed so that when CHIC finds us an autoimmune study to participate in, we'll be good to go.

The OESCA website will have more about this shortly and I'll post the link once they do.

People will be able to submit blood for the CHIC DNA database on dogs who are not attending the national at the same discounted rate ($10/dog), though in this case you'll incur the cost of your vet doing the draw plus the shipping. There will also be forms on the site to faciliate this.

I will be in nagging mode till the day I leave for the specialty begging you all to participate with your dogs. This is truly a critical effort.

As for the kind volunteers, I'm sure they will have caffeine on hand...

Kristine
Oh, and don't think the performance dogs who aren't also doing breed will go unnoticed: two of the vets are performance people in addition to showing in breed. I happen to know both of them are very determined ladies and they will hunt you down!!!

Psht! Idle threats. Marnie's been trying for years.

The only time she had any success was when I showed Sunny's dog in '05. I was so stunned from trying to handle the rodeo wannabe that she was was able to swoop in and smear on some lipstick. Not that you can particularly tell from this photo, though the stunned, deer-in-headlight look does shine through.

Image

She's been after me for years to stop running around with naked lips. It's a little known fact, apparently, that female exibitors are required to wear lipstick in 47 states, She can cite the penal code that covers this in most of them  My original plan was to show him wearing chaps and cowboy boots, riding a cutting pony, lasso in hand.

Instead, I settled for my obedience shoes, which worked OK in keeping me on my feet. A rescue person friend of mine who was there and not used to the breed judging gave me high marks in the "sensible" shoe department. I'm pretty sure the translation to that comment is: "they sure are ugly!!'

Image

Marnie refuses to lower herself to ugly. She once drove two states away to show Luca, driving home immediately following judging, having left one shoe in the ring. She was too embarrassed by his behavior to go back to retrieve it. It may still be there

Mandy, my favorite of yours is the Westminster dress. It was daring to begin with, made more so because you risked overshadowing your dog. You can thank Suzi for the fact that you were able to pull it off. Had I been there in person armed guards couldn't have stopped me from stealing her.

I did note one handler, I think it may have been in Frankenmuth, who wasn't as lucky. She had a long, flowing, beautiful dress and she is a long, flowing beautiful person. She looked stunning. I never did see her dog in the dress though

No, those boots are black and still pretty new. The ones you are thinking of are my brown ones and I still haven't fixed them!!

Kristine, you're starting to look a little Amish with those shoes. I really think you should at least let us do some bigger hair on you.
Maxmm wrote:

Amish! Yes, that's the word I was looking for.

Sunny uses terms like "dowdy"

I ran into the judge who judged dowdy about a year later and he kind of squinted but thought he recognized me, so asked if I had shown his BOW dog the year before. I confirmed and he actually complimented me on my handling which tells me he probably knew which end of the leash he was supposed to be looking at

Bigger hair? Sweetheart - I can almost sit on it. If it gets any "bigger" I will have to buy it a separate seat when traveling by air 8O Only Sunny is permitted to touch my hair. After she trims my dog, I jump up on the grooming table and she then trims my hair. I don't trust human hair dressers.

KB
I also like the word "frumpy". And I didn't say longer, I said bigger! Think Texas or New Jersey! Where is Sunny? I'm sure she knows how to tease hair, we can get her to do it!

HAHAHAHA! Amish! What a description. Except here we see them with Nike tennis shoes on! On the serious side Mandy, remember that some of us are getting "old" and our knees & ankles just aren't what they used to be...hence the style of shoe we can wear in the ring & feel safe running in! Dowdy is the 2 ankle braces & the knee brace I need to wear into the ring. Actually most people don't notice because I really try to hide them. But after blowing out a knee in the ring back in 2000 it's the only way I can feel safe showing a dog! But I will try to find something that's not too Amish looking for the national! :D
I think that you can wear safe footwear and still be fashionable! Just because you are getting older doesn't mean you can't be cool too. Maybe you could get some of those little crystal stickies and "bling" up your braces too!
did anyone notice that Kristine was not the only one wearing those shoes in the picture - they almost looked like a uniform.
ChSheepdogs wrote:

And you don't even do agility (yet? )! I never realized the breed ring was that dangerous. We have at least three agility handlers with prior or pending knee surgeries, so, let's see, maybe 25% of the OES agility handlers in any given year

Yes, of course she can tease hair. But think this through: you tease up that much hair and you have to register it as a lethal weapon. Once you start taking out the other handlers in that manner you get a bad rep for dirty handling. And let's not talk about if you have to run directly to the obedience ring right after and try to walk in a straight line trying to balance that beehive on your head. Yikes!!!

Conclusion: the only teasing to be done is me teasing Sunny about her naughty boy dog! Anything else would be irreponsible

Luckily I didn't fall, just twisted the right knee but I did tear the minescus cartilage. I was still able to go BOS to a very nice male special tho'. No points for that :( We call that win "the girl win" This led to having the cartilage removed (I stayed awake to watch the surgery!). Since then I've been a guinea pig for all sorts of newfangled treatments that come out to put off having a knee replacement for awhile. That's why you'll probably see me in what people describe as "Amish" shoes in the show ring!

No, no - bring them to the specialty this weekend and give them to Julie. She can sell them there. I can't remember what I was asked to sell, I just remember thinking, uh-oh, where's Sunny when you need her.

Remember her raffle ticket sale speech on the top of the picnic table at our performance get-together last year in MI? She's very dangerous.

Oh! Remember to look for sweatshirt sales for this year's national. I should send some $$$ with Sunny so she can pick up another one for me. They are perfect for training. Except for the part where Sybil eats your pockets.

good luck - we will need pictures to approve the outfit apparently.

My plan as it stands is to get there Sunday night and leave Saturday morning after the banquet. I do want to watch herding, but I may opt to come in Monday night instead. Will have to see what works best scheduling-wise as as we get closer. How about you?

The St. Louis group (currently me and Val) are coming in sometime Monday and probably leaving Thursday morning. So the PARTY will be in Kristine's room Wednesday night before we leave!

We are going to be there for Agility (Tuesday morning) and Top Twenty (Tuesday night) plus the Twin Cities Specialty on Wednesday.

Maybe by then Murph will be ready to compete in Obedience

Murph is all ready to go in Rally!
He is going to stop and pick up his little cutie girl Gertie
in Bloomington!
(dont be shy Gert)
I cant wait to hear about it this year!

I'm not sure that it is the best spot :), but several of us are staying at the America's Best Value Inn - originally listed as the Days Inn in the March OET. (It was a Days Inn, switched to the other recently)
The phone number is 651-460-1300.
It is in Stillwater and only about 3 miles from the show site.

Kristine

Too bad I can't just cut and paste what I just sent Kristine. Darn - no copy to me. :(

Per the OET - March 2008

Days Inn - now the Americas Best Value Inn

1 queen - 59.99/79.99 (weekday/Fri-Sat)
2 doubles - 69.99/89.99

dog fee - $5/dog/day (the regular dog fee is $10/dog/day)

I got the $5 fee, many (OK, most) have not. I don't know what the secret is.
I just called and said I was "coming for a dog show and that my national magazine listed the 1 queen room for $59.99 and $5 for my dog - and that's the one I want." I had him read the reservation back to me - $65 for Mon-Thurs, and $85 for Friday. I said thank you, and hung up. :D

You forgot the part where you promised him a good time or SOMETHING.

There are some updates added to the National page on the OESCA site:

Premium List - Agility
Premium List - Herding Combined
Entry form for Rescue Parade
Top Twenty List

http://www.oldenglishsheepdogclubofamer ... tional.htm
Thanks for the update. :D
Wow that was fun to read 8O

I am planning on coming on Wed and Friday. I will be just starting classes and I will see if I can con my prof's out of class that day
I doubt it but I will try. Think there is a chance that Rally will be after noon on those days? I have class M W and F during the day 8-12. I really want to show in Rally on those days.
I am Thinking of entering Claiborne in Rally Advance (that is the next one above Novice right??). I was working with Miss Martha today and Claiborne got amazingly jealous and worked wonderfully for not having done it in about 2 months. I am evil!!!
Mandy- What day was your b-day on during nationals? I hope not Tuesday or Thursday. I think I might have an evening class  I hope not! But just in case. I might just see if I can arrange something for the whole week off.:lmt:
And I am also so on the bandwagon about bad shoes at shows!! We should start an awareness program about it. 8)
My birthday is Friday so no problems there. I'm packing my shoes from last year just in case!!
I called - the phne number isn't working. let's blame the phone company. I booked on line and sent a message about my issue and how I wanted the correct rate. however I think the online rate was the same. we shall see. now I just have to actually go.
I FINALLY made reservations for Marty, they didn't give me a rate...
they askesd me what the rate was supposed to be :?

So, I got the 69.99 a night/5 dollar Murphy fee!
isn't it 69. with the 5 for the dog? Online it s 64
So, I didn't get a deal did I :(
Alright...further investigating
Just wanted to mention that the 'Match' entry form is now posted on the web site. Also an updated list for the donation trophy prize levels still available.
And this from our intrepid Show Chair, Pat Cunningham:

"Please encourage your fellow OES owners to support the performance events at the TCOESC and National Specialties this year. As a sign of my support for the performance events, I am entering one of my dogs in both OB and Rally and will provide an early morning comedy act at no extra charge."

I don't think any other show chair has ever gone to quite such lengths to support performance. Certainly not in recent memory.

As a reminder, show information can be found at:
http://www.oldenglishsheepdogclubofamer ... tional.htm

Kristine
So the Match is also encompassing Obedience and Rally this year????

And that takes place on Monday right??

Ok, if that's the case then I think that might be the one performance thing Luca and I can take part in this year...all be it an entertaining performance no doubt. :D
Looks like it, yes. Go for it! :D

I'm feeling a little smug but I will share. I just got a room at the "fun hotel" for $51/night and $5 for the dog. Go to:
http://www.americasbestvalueinn.com/reservations.cfm
and sign up for the value card. It's free and will print you a temp card right away. Then make your reservations with your valuecard #. Voila!
Can't wait! I'm just coming for a couple days to ooogle. My sheepie has never seen another adult let alone competed in anything. Do you think I should bring her for fun anyway? I really hate to be without her but I'm wondering if I'd be able to get around more without her. Advice?

Wow! Awesome rate! :D Thanks for sharing!!

You can bring her. Will you have more freedom without her? Yes. Willl you feel jealous of the people who did bring their dogs if you don't? Probably.

If she's crate trained, can handle crowds and is fine with other dogs, bring her. You hook up with other people who are bringing their dogs and follow their logistics. Find performance people - we're more flexible and usually more laid back. What days are you coming for?

Kristine
Woohoo - good job with the reservation!

What days are you coming? Make sure you introduce yourself to us! :D

I would bring your dog - that is part of the fun. We all will have ours there anyway. It is great to meet the dogs from here, as well as the people. And, it is a waste of an exposure and training opportunity if you don't bring her. :D

It's a good socialization experience for the dogs. It's like any other situation, if they are creating a disturbance (such as barking, or whining) you just remove yourself & the dog so as not to disturb or greatly distract the other dogs that are performing. And Kristine is right...find the performance people! I do both venues & they definitely are more laid back.
I'm so excited! I'll take your advice and bring her. I can't wait. Do I need to bring her papers or immunization records or anything like that? Gosh, I'm so ignorant. Nothing like jumping right in!! I can't wait to meet all of you. Thanks for being so welcoming.
Brenda
I always carry my records with me when I travel with my dogs - you never ever know what can happen and better to be safe than sorry.
I actually have a copy of their health records in the car at all times - but them again we do take a lot of road trips

I have pretty much decided not to go to the Nationals this year after all - I will see everyone in two years when they come back east.

I don't think I can justify the cost of driving out- it is soooo far and I think this winter is going to presnet a whole slew of new challenges to al of us as we face rising prices and heating issues.

I think I may take the dogs to a herding clinic that week instead and enjoy the waning of summer on my own.

I will miss seeing everyone but look forward to many performance sheepies on the east coast in 2010!

I don't think its official yet. I refuse to go to California for a dog event - although I love the state.

I also have them with me all the time.
My prefered method (at least for the rabies) is to shrink it down, laminate it and carry it in my wallet.

Otherwise, I keep copies in my dog bag all the time for Simon and Chewie - they travel the most with me.

I also make copies for Todd's hunting dogs and he puts them in with his hunting stuff.

Kerry - sorry you aren't making the trip. :(
Dawn I love the idea of the walet size rabies card!!!! I am so going to do that in my next spare moment :)
Unfortunately, tonight my decision was made.............. :( :(
I will not be going to Nationals this year. I haven't said much as it has been a horrible last 4 weeks here.

Norm told me a couple of weeks ago that his company had lost their contract..... and at the end of August he is out of a job. We were hopeful that his individual contract would have been picked up by KBR..... but tonight he told me No they didn't pick up any of his section's contracts. So...... my husband will probably be coming home to live with me the beginning of next month. 8O novel new concept..... it's been 4.5 years. 8O that is the good news. the bad news is that there will be no income, hence no way to make mortgage, pay electricity or ????/ as he cannot claim unemployment on the company he has been with past 4 years.

There is also other 'elements' behind the scenes i will eventually bring out, but cannot right now....... Needless to say, i did have to leave school and am very upset over that....but if there has to be a mortgage paid, and dogs fed, versus going to school....... school can wait.

Heart will be there with Val to represent us.......... and we are and will be proud of them. I am so happy Judy is going with Val, the 2 of them will have such a good time i know.

needless to say i have a room to let go........
Ali I am sorry you will not be going. :(

Val and I will get lots of pictures of your little girl going into the obedience ring.

I think Harry and Heart will have a good time together if Harry doesn't get us thrown out of our hotel room with his noisy playing.
Ok, just to be sure, so anyone can come and watch the festivities and also bring their doggie to see what "real sheepies" are supposed to do?

Any restrictions?

My one vet here does use a wallet size travel card for each dog. Has their pictures on them, all of their informaion (date born, address name , micorchip info etc). ALL of their injections and dates..........when they need to be renewed etc. Really neat.

I't is our own 'pet passport' we figure.................

I may come to see what real sheepies do....and help a little. Guinness is a rescue but after being in the rescue parade in williamsburg I may just watch that. A year ago I would have entered him in a basic rally and obedience but he has not been worked with and is beiing a .......well a sheepie. So come bring your dog and enjoy the sights

Ha ha Cindy, I HAVE been working with Harry in agility, A LOT, and yet we won't know what to expect with him being a sheepie. Maybe you should enter Guinness in the rally and/or obedience anyway - it is not too late. Val and I are entering rally and obedience and we are not ready to compete but .... what the heck, it sounded like fun. We can all go out afterwards for a drink and laugh about why "obedient" and "sheepdog" are not often heard in the same sentence.

In fact, it is official we sent in our entries today. Maybe I should save myself the time and money and just watch the DVD of our outstanding performance from last year.

Cindy....I agree with Judi!!!! Enter Guiness!!!

NOTE TO ALL :::::::

I am entering Heart in the lowest class offered. Not because Heart, although very young is not capable....but because the person on the other end of the leash...(AHEM...AHEM) is!!!!! If you want to see a good comedy show, come and watch!!! I will be going into the ring with a big piece of all -purpose silver tape on my HANDS, securely taped to the leash AND on my MOUTH so I don't continually talk to her....I am terrible with direction...left and right confuse the h@@@ out of me espcially when I am nervous and I am OLD!!!!!

I am going for the fun and excitement of just being there with all these great sheepies and their humans..to once again see Sheepiepalooza and forum friends .and now, after paying and registering...I am at the point of no return!!!!!
so will you plead beg cry and whateverelese you do, put yoou onthe corner for an hor or two or whatevert it is we can do t you to get you to stay for Thrusday night for the Banquet?// OH PLEASE OH PLEASE PRETTY PLEASE???????? You two are leaving before that last night............ a big no no no no n;o!!!!!! You need to go to to the Banquet!!! EsPECIALLY if yu do something really godo!
Well Val ,

the person at the other end of the leash with Guinness is an idiot :) Do I need to be an OESCA member to enter this stuff???? I just don't know and where can I see what is expected.....oh my Do they have a singing event??? My daughter just bought a house and is settleing on the 5th and moving on the 20th. AUGGHH I just don't know what to do!?. Sure wish there was a sheepdog club here to work with I like the drinking part though 8)
CINDY...cindy...cindy

I don't know what I am doing either...I am not a member of OESCA..I just thought it would be fun to try this. What an adventure...!!!!

REALLY....think about coming...Guiness will do great!! HE is such a handsome boy...and any sheepie that can sing like he does is smart enough to show YOU what to do!!! If you come...I will buy you a couple of 'Guinesses'...     AND I do expect a special performance of the singing Guiness!!!! (it will be sooo fun seeing you again!!!)

The 3 stooges reunited once more!!!! :rimshot:

You do not need a sheepdog club to work with .... you are part of the "I'm game for making a fool of myself in the ring with my selective hearing sheepdog" club with Val and me!!!!!!!!!! The best part about our club is that EVERY member is rewarded with laughter and we celebrate every "victory" afterwards with food and drink.

Seriously, I am going to PM you with my phone number. Please give me a call because this can be a lot of FUN!!!!!! And I am sure that Guinness will look every bit as .... ummmm..... "good" (LOL) .... as Harry and Heart.

OK I am in....Guinness is an altered rescue dog that is the light of my life......can he still do rally and obedience at the nationals??I just printed up the rescue parade entry form, where do I sign up to make a fool of myself?? I cannot think of better company to be with!!
Yippee Cindy!!!!! :D

The more the merrier.
And we can get pretty darn merry, right??????
BUMMER... something unexpected came up with my road buddy and she cannot come. It is too far and too expensive for me to do alone. I was so excited (to make a fool out of myself) I even bought an outfit, no new shoes . Everyone was so supportive. I do have a room at the "in" hotel and will not cancel if someone wants it. I will wait a week or so (also in case I hit the lottery and can fly first class with Guinness in the cabin with me Oh heck just in the cabin would be great) sigh.........I bathed Guinness this am he dosent look too bad in his post bad groomer clip. Well thanks everyone for the encouragement I will be thinking of everyone :D
Ohh Cindy I am sorry - If you want to try herding there is a clinic in Salem NY the end of that week (that is what I am doing to console myself about not going to the Nationals :) ))
Cindy...I am sorry too!! I was really getting excited to see Guiness...oh! and you too!!!

There is still time...maybe next week things will change for your traveling buddy...(fingers crossed)....
Judy convinced me that I should also go to Nationals. (This is my first Nationals ever! ) So, this morning I made reservations at the Days Inn, secured reliable care for my husband and Winston, and pulled the credit card out of the safe! I am ready! See all of you there!
Stephanie~~~~~~~ I am so happy that you are coming....!!!!   ----We are going to have sooo much fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: :!:

(is there any chance Winston can enter the prenovice???? )....I know Heart is not really ready for THE RING!!!! but I thought what the heck???? It'll be a great experience ...probably very funny....and a lot of fun!!!!!!
Val - I am excited to see you and Judy - Heart & Harry - :D :D :D I had thought briefly about entering Winston in the prenovice for fun - but I think this being my first experience with anything like this- it would be best to leave Winston home with his dad. I see you there!!!!!!!! WhooHoo!
Yay Stephanie!!!
I feel bad for not nagging you about this earlier.....

Are you sure you don't want to bring Winston??
It is a very dog friendly atmosphere, and you may feel lost not having your boy there. And, we will all be running around with ours the whole time too.
We just bring a crate and set it up in a cool shady spot for when they need/want to be in it. Or stay at the motel during the Top 20, as it is just for the honored dogs and a "dress-up" event for the humans.
I am so missing all of this already :(
Dawn:
I have decided to bring Winston. I talked with Judi yesterday she helped me realize that not having him there would be crazy - If I can get the hotel reservations changed, we are also going to be there Monday - Thursday and trying for the CGC and maybe even participate in the fun match. See you there!
Mandy...plz pm me. I can't reach you.

I am so CURIOUS!!!!!!!!!! When are you going to give details???????WHEN..........WHEN..................WHEN......................????????????

so MANY questions..................soooo FEW answers.....
I picked up a little girl tonight. She will be two in November :hearts: I have wanted a sheepie girl ever since I saw your heart. A friend told me about her. ( this is really off the subject of the nationals!!) A young man broke up with his girlfriend and moved back with his parents and had to give her up. I offered to keep her for 5 or 6 months and see if he could take her back but he said a good home with other dogs was more than he could ask for. I know she is not bred well and had told my husband we would go to a good breeder but he wanted a rescue dog. She could have gone into rescue but I offered her a home. Her name is Molly. There goes my gas money for the nationals. Enough information??? :D

One more thing she has one blue eye and one brown :) Now for the nationals I will miss them due to abvious reasons I wish EVERYONE luck especially the first timers (as I would have been) I know you all will have fun have a drink for me!!!!

Excellent! :D
I have one update. :D

As your CGC evaluator this year at nationals, it has been scheduled for Monday afternoon (Sept 15) from 2-4 pm. No advance registration needed. Sign up will be immediately preceding the test time. If you show up during the test time, you still can sign up!

We are planning on being indoors, in one of the buildings, probably the obedience area. If it is super nice out, we do have the option of going outdoors too. :D

See you there. :!:

Not that it will help you now...
But Onofrio (superintendant) has a super easy online entry method. As a fellow last-minute enterer, I have has ample opportunity to use it. And, once you have entered a dog using the system, it remembers the info about that dog, so it is even easier the next time you use it!

In this case, the correct term should have been evaluator.
Although I am a certified judge for the state of MN in the 4-H dog project. I judge obedience and showmanship (Jr handling).
Not an AKC judge though!
