Wilby has gone to the bridge

Today Marty and I had to help our sweet man Wilby to the bridge.
We had him almost 8 years and he was 11 1/2....
Since we rescued Wilby at the age of 4 he had liver issues.
Over the past few weeks he had been harder to get all his meds in
so, we were trying mostly to at least get in his pain meds.
Over the weekend he was refusing everything except getting fluids.
(Wilby was not a dog you could force to do anything)
I was getting ready to take him to the vet this morning and he
had a horrible nose bleed....
Our plan was to get an IV in so we could give more fluids and IV meds.
When we took his xrays he had a huge mass on his liver and was so painful he would barely move.
(Wilby was a dog that nobody could touch except Marty and I....he was letting the vet work with him, which has never happened without sedation)
Basically, his liver had shut down and we could not let our baby suffer
anymore.

God Speed Wilby :hearts:
Mommy and Daddy miss you dearly but, know you are no longer in pain.

My silly boy after a day at the beach!
Hi,

I can only imagine how heart wrenching this post must have been for you to write. I'm so sorry for your loss of your beautiful boy. What a wonderful life he must have lived sharing it with you and your mate. There's no doubt he was loved deeply and knew it.

You loved him enough to end his pain and that is the most unselfish act of all. May he live on forever in your mind and in your heart. Run free at the bridge Wilby and give some nose rubs to your many sheepie friends whom have recently passed.

Hugs to you.

Marianne
I am so sorry. Such a difficult time to go through, but you gave him a great 8 years and I am sure he loves you for that. (((HUGS)))

I sure hate to hear about your beautiful Wilby. I have no doubt you would have continued nursing him right on if would have helped but it sounds like you did what you had to do. I'll say an extra prayer for you and your family.
Thank you all for your thoughts in this hard time.
I know everybody knows the pain all to well...

I feel really sad for his Kismet.
Wilby was her "hearing" dog.
She followed him everywhere and
she seems lost!
She will be fine as we all will.

I am so sorry for your lose. We lost our prior dog to liver disease. There was nothing more that could be done for him and we let him go. My signature says how I feel about dogs.
