My grooming supply list

A few people had asked about the stuff that I use so, here is the information. I gave the name and sizes where I could and the item numbers and prices. The first set of columns is from Cherrybrook.com. The second set of columns is from PetEdge.com. If PetEdge didn't offer the product, it will say N/A.
Cherrybrook usually has a stand at any large dog show and their prices are pretty close to what they charge off of their catalogue. I'm not sure how their shipping is calculated if ordering off of the net. PetEdge's shipping is calculated by weight.

#1 All Systems Ultimate Pin Brush 13-045 $14.99 #AL89562 $12.99

Cherrybrook has a free shipping promo until 5/31. If you spend $150 or more, enter the promotional code 5ship into the promotion box upon checkout. I know that $150 is a lot, but you can buy all of your gallon bottles of shampoos, conditioners, dog toys, treats, etc.
What about including in your grooming supplies a water mist bottle so when you are grooming with all those tools you can mist the coat as you layer groom. There only a few dollars for one.
What do you use for stripping the coat?

I just got three of them at WalMart for a dollar a piece in the garden section!
I just listed the brushes, combs and basic hair grooming tools. I didn't put any products down but if anybody wants to know sprays and such, let me know.

That would be the Matbreaker, toward the bottom of the list.
Can you give me an idea of what you use to shampoo and condition?? Also I know that food has a play in the coats, what do you feed yours dogs to make their coat healthy?? Thanks mandy for all you do.
Thanks for the list. I was trying to remember everything you used but my memory isn't what it use to be!
Questions: Which whitening shampoo did you use?
Also, what does everyone use for traveling? I know this is the grooming forum but I need a new crate the one I have is way too large for easy loading and unloading.
EZ Groom Crystal Ice (I think that's the name) is a good whitener, you heat it before it's applied. I also like Crown Royal Biovite OB Shampoo.
As far as crates, the softsided ones are great if your dog is not a chewer.
I don't think Bogie and a soft sided crate are going to go well together!!

I use Christansen's White on White for a whitener. The bottle says you don't need to dilute. DILUTE IT!! It'll turn a dog blue, especially if their hair is dry.

Mason Pearson Brush Junior 9" 13-030 $109.99

okay....over $100 for a brush? Is this really necessary for those of us who don't show? I'm planning in buying the All system's pin brush - which I believe is the brush Mandy used for line brushing. Would this be sufficient for brushing out the coat? what does this Mason Pearson brush have to offer that is worth $100? Just curious. I also was BLOWN away by the price of some of the thinning shears at over $180...is there really that much difference between those and the $40 ones? I just can't get over how expensive these tools are!

I think shears are the one thing where you can immediately notice the difference in a good, expensive pair versus cheapies. As soon as you pick them up, they feel so much better in your hand, lighter and more comfortable, and when you take that first cut, you just know that you're using good quality shears. You'll get a more deliberate, precise cut with good shears and, in thinning shears, a nice even soft cut. Crappy thinning shears kind of take chunkier cuts, if that makes sense? If you're not showing, no, you sure don't need $300 shears since you probably won't use them enough to justify it but they're definitely a tool that's an investment since you can get them sharpened and keep them for a really long time.
I use the new brass tip Christensen and really like it. I also got her slickers and like those also. I do have a Mason Pearson I hate.
You pay for what you get, years ago I would buy cheaper scissors and need to re-buy newer ones every so often as well as they needed sharpening more often.

So finally invested in an expensive pair, started out with a good brand straight shank pair and I have had them for well, eons. I added up what the cheaper ones cost to buy, replaceing them annually and also in between having them sharpend. The more refined expensive ones worked out in the long term to of cost me less. You have them forever after that first big initial cost. Less sharpening needed on high quality ones also, they stay sharper longer.

Thinning shears are the same, cheaper ones cut chunks,go blunt quick & with good quality ones you get a better crisp trim without scissor marks. :D They also last a long long time also.

Like everything, go low quality in your equipment and it does not last, spend a bit more and you have them for a lifetime.
BTW, I'm looking for some Plush Puppy brushes, anyone know where I can get some?
Yeah here, Plush Puppy is made in OZ

You can visit :P
I'm on my way :D
There are Plush Puppy reps here in the states. I've bought shampoo from them but only at dog shows. I don't remember them seeing the brushes. The shampoo is great!
I use Crown Royal Magic Touch Grooming Spray Formula 3. Directions say to dilute it 15:1 so the concentrated bottle lasts a long time. I groom out 4 OES every week. As for whitening shampoo...I've had the best luck with a combination I make up myself. I take an empty 22 oz bottle of liquid dish soap, fill it 1/2 full of Econogroom (straight from the bottle), add 10 "pumps" of Clairol Shimmer Lights & fill the rest of the bottle with water. Mix well before using. When it comes to scissors...you get what you pay for. I treated myself to a very good pair of curved scissors 18 months ago & they do not need sharpened yet. This is one item I recommend not trying to "save a buck" on. You need to buy them from a vendor at a show so you can try different ones on to see which feel most comfortable. Also, a good scissor vendor will be able to tell you which models will be best for an OES coat.
The Mason Pearson is definitely not a neccesity!! I wouldn't have bought the one that I have, one of my mentors has it on permanent loan with me. I just listed it in case someone remembered it from the weekend and wanted the info.

And don't be tempted by the Shimmer Lights!! It's not a problem to use it diluted as Marilyn said but NEVER straight!!! Toby was blue for about a week after I tried that one!
Mandy,

What was the conditioner you showed me at your house??? I can see the bottle in my mind (what I have left) but not the name???
Thanks

Cindy

There's something really funny to me about that. It sounds like an illegal moonshine operation or something, lol.
