Computer Help Needed -- please test our new website

Ron says any thing goes under chit chat and I had no response when I posted this under rescue....

Dixie OES Rescue is going through some growing pains...

We have a new website and need to work out the "bugs". We own both www.dixieoesrescue.com and .org

The webmaster for some reason put everything on .com I've already requested it also be put on .org and also to please add a "to join" page a "to donate" page (both to be hooked up to Paypal) as well as an online adoption application form. I am open to any and all other suggestions for our website.

Please go onto the .com version to see what we have so far and pretend you want to turn in a dog -- is all the info there that you need?

pretend you found a dog that you think is an oes...

pretend you want to adopt...

pretend you want to foster...

donate...

join...

etc...

any other sceneraio you can think of...

We have it set up for a store (and already have some items to sell) but haven't had chance to photgraph the items and get them listed.

I am looking for volunteers in all area It is busy in FL now with OES Rescue. Candace has quite a few and I have 3 fosters at my house and 2 more waiting to be turned in ... plus my own 3 dogs.. it is quite a circus.

Thank you all so much.

Pretty darn good!

In a quick run through this is what confused me:

1. Dixie Name, at first page you mention Florida......then later you mention SE states and Florida......you might want to put that on the first page. Are you including ALL Florida? So often the state is divided East/West.

2. You mention NEOESR, etc, spell them out once

3. Add an actual link to OESCA. Spelling out OESCA isn't enough (plus it's a long type), give the link.

4. Under the adoption procedure you mention Grannie Annie.....er, Annie Raker. I realize this is from NEOESR, you might want to remove her name or rewrite that section. People will be looking for Annie in your organization.

5. WOW, the giving up the dog is thorough! I never got medical records..nice if you can get them.

6. Under home check........yard inspection........are the gates locked at all times? Is there a procedure in place if someone must come into the back yard and the dog present? Workers don't remember to close gates and dogs escape.

Looks pretty well thought out. Maybe others will find little problems.

Yeah, would have been nice under .org.
I know that petfinder owns both domain names and no matter which you type, it takes you to petfinder.org. I think AKC.com does the same. Maybe you could just do the automatic redirect to your .org address?

Otherwise, the links all function. The site is visually appealling (& I'm hard to please. Ask Deb about the OESCA website!) And the links are very straightforward.
The one thing that I would add is a little more info for perspective adopters. If I wanted a dog, the first thing you see on the front page is, "no dogs available". It's a little disheartening, nice that no one needs adopted right now, but sad for people who WANT a dog right now. Maybe a "so you want to adopt a sheepdog" type link. Maybe a "Start here!" "Click here for your OES". It would give them something to do, put their energy to some action and maybe get you guys some volunteers while people are waiting for their dog to come in. Otherwise, all they see is that big text and bold font and they move on to another place while they are searching.
Good to see things starting up again! Summer break is starting soon so if you need me to run apps or do homechecks please let me know.

I think she's still waiting on them to add that.

Everything looks good, Marie. Did you work out everything with your web people all right?
Thanks Jill
I thought I may have overlooked it....
We will continue to be members!
Thanks for all that you do!
Hi Marie:

Your site is very striking. Just a few things that I noticed. On the "won't you consider becoming a foster home" page http://www.dixieoesrescue.com/docs.foster.home.html , the hotline phone number at the bottom is NEOESR's number.

On the Foster Care Procedure page http://www.dixieoesrescue.com/docs.foster.html under expenses, the placement director's phone number is NEOESR's.

On the Confinement Policy page http://www.dixieoesrescue.com/docs.confinement.html , first paragraph, you might want to replace New England Old English Sheepdog Rescue with Dixie OES Rescue.

Third paragraph on the same page, the Rescue Hotline phone number is NEOESR's.
