Mitchell has passed on today.

We had him for a year, we got him as the foster group said he was unadoptable, well they were wrong. Mitchell was seven and had severe arthritis I had to carry him up and down the stairs, I'll miss having him in my arms, when I would go to pick him up he would surrender right into my arms he knew I would catch him. His back legs were deteriorating and he could barely walk, but he would walk just the same. All the kids in the neighbourhood new him as Mitch and loved to pet him, he loved them back. I'll miss the walks we had, I got to have him in my arms one last time.
Just now my heart is broken, I miss him so very very much.

Peter.

I am so sorry that your Mitch is gone...he will be in your heart forever. Thankyou for giving him another chance at life. You were truely Mitchells angel.....and now he is yours...
Peter,

I am so sorry to hear about Mitch. I guess a year of love and devotion made a very tight bond and probably ment so much to Mitch. He sounds like he was a very loving, sweet, and special boy. The extra year you gave him was probably the best year of his life. Thank you for giving him that year in his very short life. The needs, added strength, sacifices and effort made by you make you a very extra special person as well!

Zach
I was sorry to read this post. You made a difference in this boys life. How nice he spent his last year in a loving home. I know this will not help the pain you are feeling . It is so hard to let go. May he hunt with the hounds and swim with the retrievers. Godspeed Mitch

Cindy
I am so sorry. :ghug:

I am so sorry to hear about Mitch.
You gave him a whole extra year of life that others didn't think he would get
because he was "unadoptable". While you couldn't change his deteriorating
health, you were there with love and compassion to help him get by.

Hugs to you and thanks for loving your special boy.
I'm sorry for your loss, but I had to smile when I read "all the neighborhood kids loved Mitch." What joy he brought into others' lives!
 sorry you have had to say Bye to Mitch. he sounded like a special boy, thank you for giving him a wonderful last year. xx
I'm so sorry for your loss of Mitch. And I'm so grateful you could give him a year to know what it was like to have a truly loving human care for him. He'll be in your heart and memories forever, as he should be.
I'm so sorry but I'll bet he had the best year of his life with you. I know you'll miss him but he's finally out of pain now; that was one of the things that kept me strong when we lost our old girl. I knew for the first time, she felt like herself again-- wherever her little soul was. :)
You gave him the best days of his life and I know he loved you for it. Thank you for all you did for Mitch. I know his passing leaves a void in your life. I hope you can fill it with happy memories of him.
I am so sorry for your loss but thanks you for giving your sheepie such a wonderful life your story makes me cry
I'm sorry to hear about your loss. Thank you for taking Mitch in and loving him.
We are so sorry to hear of Mitchell's passing. You gave him a great year, most likely the best of his whole life.

:ghug:

Laurie and Oscar
remember if it wasn't for you he would have never seen true love he had it at the end so sorry
You have my deepest condolences on your loss. Mitch may have had only one year with you but it certainly was a happy and loving time.
I have much sympathy for your loss. Thanks for giving Mitch the best year of his life.
:(
:ghug:
so sorry :(
Thank you for giving of your heart to Mitch, he loved every minute of you!

I'm sorry for the pain of your loss.
I'm so sorry. :(
Mony and Laci are sorry to hear about Mitch. You did a good thing giving him a good live. Thanks you
Sounds like Mitch was a very special dog loved by a very special guy.

Thank you for giving an "unadoptable" dog a chance to learn what love is, if even for a short time.
There is no such thing as 'unadoptable.' God put someone here for each of us, and clears a path for us to find one another. I'm glad you met your 'special one', and very sorry for your loss.
I'm so sorry for the loss of Mitchell, he was a special boy. You gave him love and a happy home for which I'm sure you were repaid back tenfold. The love of a wonderful old dog is like nothing else. Each time you picked him up and you felt his body relax - you knew he trusted you implicitly. Thanks for sharing him with us and may he now be running at the bridge.

Marianne
 I'm very sorry for your loss of Mitchell.
Thanks to everyone for those kind words, I remember little things about him that bring tears to my eyes, like, when I came home from work, as Mitch was deaf he didn't know I was there until he saw me, then he would get up on his front paws and bark, that was the command to get me up and lets go for a walk, he would follow me everywhere doing little one inch of the floor jumps to show his excitement....I miss him so much, and will love him forever....Bye Mitch :hearts: :hearts:
I am so sorry to hear of the passing of your sweet sheepie boy Mitch. Not only did you make a difference in his life he made a difference in so many lives as your testimony to how the neighborhood children felt towards your sweet boy. I am sorry that you only have memories of him now, but in time, they will put a big smile on your face and replace the tears that you shed now. My heart is with you during this very difficult time.
I'm so sorry for your loss, we'll be thinking of Mitchell today
Peter, thank you for adopting the "unadoptable" Mitch. You are a lucky man to have loved him and he you. I admire you for your devotion to him and for giving him a wonderful last year of life. It is so funny how they know when you are trying to help them. I remember that Tyler would do the same, when it was time to go to bed, he would put his front paws on the bed and wait till I lifted his back end on to the bed. I still miss him.
Thank you for giving Mitch a great year. I agree, there is
no such thing as unadoptable. It is just a matter of matching the right two...and it looks like you were that
match. Dogs know a good thing, and I am sure Mitchell knew what he had in you. Take care.
Thank you for being such a good friend to Mitchell. I know you must be missing him badly right now...try and think of the memories that will make you smile as those are the memories he took with him.
So sorry to hear the news of Mitchell and thankyou for showing Mitchell love.

Memories will flow when the sadness subsides, even though you only had him for a short time but a most memorable time, he will always be in your heart and memories for enternity.

Thinking of you all.
When you have a special needs dog I think you have a stronger bond with them, at least that's they way it was with us, I think that is why it hurts so much, I second guess myself wondering if I could have done more. I ordered a plaque for Mitch that I will put in our garden. I again thank everyone for their kind words and thoughts

Peter.
I'm so sorry to hear about Mitchell. It's such a hard thing to go through. I'm sure he's happy and healthy at the bridge right now.
I am so sorry to hear of Mitchell's passing...
Yes, special needs dogs do touch your heart
Peter, you also touched a special needs dogs heart.
You gave him a year of love that he would not have had otherwise.
Please try to not second guess your decision, you will but, you shouldn't.
I am sure Mitchell is frolicking now at the bridge and he was blessed
to have a caring Dad to let him go there peacefully.
You will be in my thoughts in this hard time
so sorry for your loss....our thoughts are with you
:ghug: :ghug: to you.

Mitch was truly a lucky dog for his last year.
I am so sorry for your loss! :ghug:
