Chanuke

Here's a boy in Cleveland, Oh. It says mix but I don't think so. He looks a mess but oes to me. This is a kill shelter.

Is there no one in Ohio that can help this boy?

Zach
Is anyone working on this boy? I am willing to drive out and pull him if that would help. He can hang out at my place for awhile till other arrangements can be made.
Wow, you're almost 8 hours away. What a nice offer but we must have someone who is closer than you to help.

Zach
Dosen't look like a mix to me!!! Zach you are doing a wonderful job on these sheepdogs!!!

Cindy
Thanks Cindy, but not really. I met many of the wonderful folks around here who really make a difference at our Atlanta day and it made me feel quite small. What a great get together of large hearted folks who reach out like yourself and have made huge sacifices to change a few of the many unwanted dogs in the SE.

Looks like you did a great job with the 3 Stooges! They look very happy and wonderful!

Zach
I'm only 2 hours away and can go get him this weekend but I don't have room in my apartment for 2 sheepies. Any ideas?
Update: This dog is out and in rescue!! Thanks Madeline and Sharon!
Zach
Keep me posted if she can help. I'll be in and out of meetings all day (at work) but will keep checking back. Cleveland is about 2 hours. I'm free tomorrow afternoon but I can rearrange things for the early morning if necessary. I hope things work out.
I've been in touch with the APL and Chanuke will be fine. There is no need for any intermediary to "spring him".

As info, the APL has done an outstanding job with Chanuke. His owner turned him into the APL in mid-April because she didn't have time for him. That was obvious because he was a filthy, matted mess. He's been completely clipped down since the Petfinder photo was taken. He has received medical treatment for an eye infection and a mass in his mouth was removed, biopsied and fortunately, is non-cancerous. He was temperament tested and received straight A's! He's about 5 years old.

Chanuke's adoption fee is $225 from the APL. A couple of pre-screened OES rescue families are interested in him. One is very close to adopting him but there are a few logistical issues to overcome because they are in the middle of relocating. They have an OES rescue from NYSOESR and also volunteer at the APL, so I'm very hopeful something will be worked out because they are an awesome family.

However, there's never any harm in having a back-up plan (or two, or three!) so if anyone is interested in adopting Chanuke, please contact NYSOESR. We have a number of dogs in need of good homes.

Sharon
