Arkansas/Missouri

This baby is listed in the AR area, but she is right on the AR/MO border. She is listed as having only one eye. Poor girl. The AC only holds animals for 5 days, then they have the option of euthenizing. Can anyone help her? I have sent an e-mail to the AC shelter.

Thanks.

I received this reply from the Animal Control Shelter today.

Hi,
Our policy is the same for individuals, as it is for rescue groups. We require the group to sign a contract basically stating that the animal will be cared for with shelter, water, food and vet. care as needed. The animal will have proper identification, and will not be allowed to run at large. We would also like proof of being a rescue group, as we want to make sure the animal will be taken care of. Someone would have to come to the facility to sign the necessary paperwork. We would make an appointment at the vet for the animal to be spayed/neutered and a rabies vaccination given if old enough. We do not charge a fee to rescues. The animal would need to be picked up at the local vets office between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. the day of the appointment. You can fax information to us at 870-481-5822, it is also our regular phone number, so you will need to call first so we can prepare for the fax.
This particular dog is missing her right eye. She will require surgery to heal correctly, which we will be unable to provide. The fur is all matted around it and it is infected. We are using antibiotic ointment from the vet daily and are seeing good results so far. If she is not claimed by an owner, she will become available for adoption on 5/12/08. I do have an individual that has contacted me as well. We would adopt to her before a rescue because the ultimate goal is to find the animals a good loving home.
Hope this helps! Thank you for your interest! If you have any further questions or need any further information, please do not hesitate to call or email. Thank you again, Sincerely, Carolyn

This is so sad. I hope that whoever adopts her realizes the expense they are getting into with this eye surgery.
If this girl goes into rescue, please let me know?
I feel bad for her... having to wait for surgery to fix this problem :(
She looks like a nice sheepie-girl.
I have found someone to help us out in MO. If Animal Control lets us have her, she is coming into OES Rescue SE. IF things work out, I will foster until she is placed. Just have to get her from MO to AL the weekend of Sheepiepalooza. Now where did I put Wyn's phone number. :lmt:

Please, everyone, keep your paws crossed that we get her into rescue.
This poor baby! It is so scary to think how she lost her eye...

I just want to love on her and show her how wonderful she is!

I am in Louisville KY if I can help in a transport rendezvous for this adorable dog.
Crossing ALL our paws here!
That is wonderful....she looks so adorable!
:yay:
Betsy, if this baby gets into rescue, I'll be happy to make a donation for her eye surgery. Please keep us posted.

me too :)
Thanks, Betsy, for working to help this girl. Let us know if you get her in and need donations for the surgery.
Thank you all. I will keep you updated. The lady in MO is determined that she WILL get her, no matter what it takes. She is a very determined Rescue lady.
That's wonderful news :D

I think if she enters OES rescue, rather than being adopted out, she'll have a
better chance at being matched up with a qualified "someone" willing and
able to handle the requirements that come with this breed. And she'll also
have rescue's support to help her settle in.

Thank you so much for watching over her.
Was she rescued? Just curious...
The Animal Control could not allow anything until today. She was picked up as a stray and had to be held for a certain amount of time. Becky will contact them today and I will let you know what is going on.
Hi everyone! I am new to the forums but I wanted to let you know that I spoke to Carolyn at the Baxter County Animal Shelter today where this Sheepie girl was being held. She was adopted yesterday by a man from Kentucky. He apparently used to do rescue but is just an individual now. Carolyn seemed confident that she was going to a good home and that he was capable of taking care of her eye surgery!

So, hopefully this girl will be happy with her new home in Kentucky!! :D
Welcome and thanks for the update!

That mysterious Kentuckian, I wonder if it sounds like Jim S?

ONE IN THE SAME!

I spoke with him about 6:00 last night and he was on his way home with her. She has a vet appointment for the eye tomorrow. He said she is a real sweetie. She had managed to work her way into the front seat with him only minutes from leaving the shelter. The eye does not seem as bad as we had originally expected, she did not appear to be in any pain.

Is proudnewsheepiemommy who I think?
:) It's like sitting on needles here, I'm so excited...

(and I don't even know Jim S)

My Patch is fortunate enough to be a Jim S rescue - he is passionate about the sheepdogs and all the rescue work he does to help these animals. Patch and I have a real fondness for Jim.
Wow! I am so glad you guys know him and know that he will find her a good home!

Thanks for the welcome! My name is Alisha and I am from the Kansas City, MO area....just east of KC in Oak Grove!!!

We just got our first OES little boy Brosnan last weekend after I fell in LOVE with the breed and did lots of research!! I guess you could say I caught "sheepie fever" as I have seen it put! :D

We are doing GREAT with the potty training!....Now if we could just get him to stop biting pant legs and flesh we will be perfect! Hehe!!!

Nice to meet you all!!!!! :P
That's exactly what I thought when I read the post - I wonder it's Jim. :lmt:

So glad to hear he has her! I'm sure she'll be fine now. :phew:

Thanks, Alisha, for the follow up and welcome to the OES community!!
