Spencer sprung but bad news... now I need your help!

Here's an update on Spencer from the Georgia Animal Cotrol: I picked him up today. He's definitely NOT a sheepdog, perhaps only about 1/4 the vet says. He's approximately 2 years old, not 10 months as reported by AC. I took him to the vet and he's heart worm POSITIVE! I still have him at my house but I don't know what to do! There's a no-kill shelter here in Columbia, SC that I think I can take him to but I don't know if they'll accept a pet who's heartworm positive. ANY THOUGHTS on what I can do? He's so soft and smart. He sits and shakes paws. He's decent on a leash. The vet thinks he's a terrier mix, maybe Otterhound and Wheaten with a little sheepie mixed in. PLEASE HELP! What do I do? Where can I take Spencer so he'll get the Heartworm Treatment he needs!!!!!!!!!!

I talked with the Atlanta rescue and they are willing to take Spencer and give him his heartworm treatment so I'm asking, begging, any of you in the Atlanta area to help me with transport. Is anyone able to meet me half way to hand over Spencer so he can begin his treatment??? Please post or pm me if you can!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!THANK YOU!
I hope you have been able to find a transport...
If not please let me know I can work on it with you!
Thanks so much for saving Spencer
I've got your back.

I've never done this before, but I can help. I'll gladly meet you half way and bring Spencer into Atlanta to the Rescue. I'm pretty free all of next week.

Can Spencer ride in the back seat of a car? I don't think a crate will fit in my vehicle.
Yippe!
Spencer is lucky you all are there for him!
It's always fun with a transport to stop and have a little lunch!
You dont have to crate...if he goes batty you can tie his leash in the door!
Good Luck withe the boy!~
I have a cover for the back seat of my car; it sort of turns the area into a hammock! That way when the girls ride back there, they are in no danger of falling off the seat onto the floor. It will be more comfortable for
Spencer, and easier for me, should he be the car-sick type of dog.

South Carolina shouldn't be too far; I'm glad to help out.
You are such caring people. Please keep us posted with Spencer
Darth Snuggle!
Thank you so much! And Spencer rode amazingly in the my SUV from GA to SC. No need to worry about a crate.

He spent last night on my back porch with a free run to the fenced in back yard. He didn't seem to touch his food but I guess he's a little anxious not knowing what's happening!

Do you have any plans today??? I'm free all of today but I won't get another chance to transport until Friday, May 9. Please reply or PM me. THANKS AGAIN!
Hi Steph

Hi Allison aka Darth Snuggle<>cute name
Maybe we can coordinate somehow/someway to
get Spencer to Atlanta
Thank you, ladies, so much! Spencer really is a cutie. I think he has the personality of a sheepie!

I PM'd both of you Atlanta "angels" (3Shaggies and Darth Snuggle) about transporting Spencer. I'm very thankful for your assistance.

Please keep in touch so we can get Spencer the help he needs.

Also, a special thanks to Atlanta Pet Rescue who graciously agreed to take Spencer in and get him healthy so he can get his furever home!
Diane has sent me a photo of Spencer to share with everyone!

Spencer is a cute sweet shaggy boy maybe with just a dab of sheepie in him!
I learned this morning that Spencer plays well with children & is more like 2 years old than the listed 10 months.
Now we just have to get rid of those darn Heart Worms >>evil stuff
Hey all;

Today is the Atlanta Sheepdog Day in the Park, followed by my boyfriend's birthday party. So not a good day for me. I can do any day next week except Wednesday (our training day) and Friday would have to be during the day-time. Speed Racer comes out that night and I have tickets to see the Midnight show!

Jeez... I'm so sorry about the info NOT being accurate. :(
When I called, the lady with Animal Control actually read the information the
owner had provided at turn-in. I even repeated the age and mentioned he
was just a pup and she confirmed! IF the age had been accurate the hw
probably would not have been an issue. Sigh...
He is sooo cute!!!!
Jaci:
That's ok. You didn't know that animal control didn't have the accurate info. It's amazing they even have a clue what's going on sometimes, you know? Don't worry about it. Spencer is still a sweetie! He wags his tail all the time and is so friendly. Darth Snuggle has graciously aggreed to meet me halfway from Columbia, SC to Atlanta to transport Spencer on Friday. He's a trooper in the car so the transport will be smooth.

BTW, Darth Snuggle: THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! And 3Shaggies has been amazing too with information on Atlanta Pet Rescue who's taking Spencer to get him well so he can be adopted! THANK YOU SO MUCH LADIES!
