Unpotty Training Himself

We adopted a 18 month old a few months ago. He has been fantastic, never had an accident inside until last week. Now he has began to untrain himself, and has soiled the house several times lately, sometimes when he is alone, but last night he did it while we were sleeping and didn't try to wake us up.

Suggestions??

Dogs often go thru the "teenage" period by forgetting everything they have been taught, but to start soiling indoors is unusual.

I'd look at changes to his routine; feeding times, less exercise, you being away more, new family member, missing family member, change in food, etc.

I'd also think about a medical condition.......but it's lower on my list. UTI, urinary infection for example. Unlikely but maybe a prostate problem in the guy.

Yes, you basically have to start potty training all over again, but start with longer walks at night before bed to "clean him out." Also increase his daily exercise, he's growing and needs longer work outs.
