My dog vomited food he ate 5 days ago. Should I be worried?

Tasker just vomited, yellow green bile with a few hunks of potato in it.

The problem is, he ate the potatoes on Sunday morning and they are apparently still in his stomach 8O .

Last friday night I made a large pan of scalloped potatos for our weekly Firehouse dinner. i cooked them for almost 3 hours and when I served them they were CRUNCHY. Sat night we were still at the firehouse and I cooked the potatoes for another hour but they were still "hard". So I decided there was something seriously wrong with the potatoes and Sunday morning I dumped them in the garbage. As luck would have it we had an ambulance call before i remebered to take the garbage out. Whe we got back to the firehouse Tasker had enjoyed a feast of crunchy scalloped potatoes.

That night he vomited potatoes, no surprise there. I didn't feed him til the following day when, he seemed fine. All week he has eaten without any problem and has pooped as usual.

Mid week he again vomited and I was amazed to see a potato in the vomit (three days after he ate them). But he was eating, pooping and acting fine.

Just a few minutes ago he again vomited a small amount of green yellow bile with POTATO in it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Do you think those potatoes are sitting in his stomach??? Should I call the Vet or just assume they will work their way out?

Summer ate one of my trainer socks, and vomited it 5 days later. it was covered in slime and bile. I mentioned this to the vets when she was ill and the vet said they can keep food in their stomach and regurgitate it days later. So if he is Ok i should just keep an eye on him.
Huh, imagine that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mulligan also puked up homefries about a day after he had them. They were still nice and firm! A little paprika and they might have been re-servable.

I wouldn't worry about them TOO much, seems like he'll puke them up if he needs to. But whaddoIknow; if you are worried or Tasker is acting as if he's ill, call the vet. The first thing out of their mouths is almost always "bring them in" anyway.

Well, can't blame them, I suppose.
Assuming it isn't something bad that could cause blockages...

I think it is a little bit "normal" for dogs to eat something and if they can't digest it eventually throw it up. Occasionally when Iz has beef rib bones she swallows too big of a piece...not to worry anyone they are small pieces...she just can't digest it. Eventually her body realizes it and she throws it up. Usually on my bed....at 3am

Actually, the first thing out of my vet's mouth is: "What did she eat this time?" :P But you're right - they can't in good conscience diagnose over the phone.

I do know things can appear in many interesting ways quite some time after the fact...Sybil once ate a bag of tiny rubber bands - a BIG bag of little bands. Cleaned those up for a week.

Her current fetish is cough drops. She ate a bag of those yesterday. Most things do come out the proper end in her case, though.

Just keep an eye on him. This too may just ....pass.

Hope so.

i spit my tea on that one. he is "passing" away in the form of puking. apparently tonight is the night he is going to purge them all  we've cleaned up four piles of potatoes so far. i think he's going to be ok once he brings them all up.
He'll be fine Ginny, hopefully not too many potatos left in his gut. Poor spud man. :(

Kelsey took 4 days later to bring up rainbow feathers after consuming that parrot. That surprised me too thought it would of passed earlier so imagine my surprise to walk in the laundry and find a slimey pile of rainbows on the floor all those days later.   No beaks no feet they must be digestable, just feathers 8O
OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Poor Tasker! :( I hope he is feeling better soon.

At least yours was pretty.
Here it would be a black crow or something boring like that!

Wilby threw up a pair of socks one time that I had never seen...
where were those sockies?
They were just white not as colorful as a Parrot!
I can't imagine,,,,,,,,eek!

Yeah, really, Haggis consumed an ugly brown partially decomposed sparrow this year. I would have rather see him eat a pretty parrot.

They may have been mine!!!

Oh, no, wait - you said a pair, can't be mine. I only lose one of each pair.

Suspect some kind of sheepdog sock underground railway where they share purloined socks just to get a really solid start in sending us on our way towards the Funny Farm.

Maybe they hope there are sheep there or something.

Hope Tasker is feeling better since he got rid of the potatoes, Ginny.

Lisa, I laugh every time I think of the parrot she ate and the lovely pile of rainbow feathers you found. Only because I didn't have to clean them up, of course.
Ginny--is Tasker feeling better now?

Luckily so far Barney mostly just pukes up the massive amounts of water he consumes
This topic is very revealing

Archie loves raw potatoes, we try not to let him have them though as being part of the belladonna family I am not sure how good they are for him?

Mice that the cats bring him tend to make him chuck up though - not sure but I think maybe the cats do it deliberately just to watch him be sick, then eat it again, and repeat!!
Hehheehehehee.....eeeeewwwwwwwwwwww. Cats are so evil
