Poppy is getting a sister- we need help with a name please!!

Poppy has been such a wonderful addition to our household that after long and hard thought we have decided that we would like to add another puppy to the family! She is such a social girl and absolutely loves every dog we meet - sheepie day last week was wonderful for her and everyone there with two sheepies said it was the best decision they had ever made and wishes they had done it sooner! That really helped us to finalise our decision but I think we had aleady decided anyway! So... here she is:
Image

She is the one with the black markings on both eyes and ears and one of two girls in a litter of 5 from the same breeder as Poppy with a different Mum of course - Wildahar Bellflower. The new puppy's kennel club name is Wildahar Flower of the hour as she was born the night the clocks changed to summer time here in the UK!

We have thought of several names ourselves and would prefer it to be a 'flower' name to keep our tradition and also because of her kennel club name but we keep changing our minds and knew you wise people would have some wonderful ideas!

Just to satisfy the longing for puppy pictures - here is another one of the litter:

Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

It seems a little odd, but picture her at 2...hehe..

I'm also voting for Pansy .... Poppy and Pansy sounds so cute :D
I like:

LOL, and what's next, Ronnie-flower?

She's adorable....she looks like a Pansy or perhaps a Sunny....
Peony (works for a pup :) )
I love the name Darcy!! :)
How about Scilla -- another spring flower -- not to be confused with Elvis' nickname for Priscilla!
I love the theme - you're in for a hard decision! She's a cutey, too!!!
Or....

Daphne
Sweet Pea
Heather

My girl is named Snowdrop because she was born in early March and had small white spots on her back that looked just like snowdrops!
I thought this would help but I think you are making my decision worse! I now have so many more names to chose from!!

Some of the names we have to cross off the list as we have family members with the same name. Can you imagine the embarrasment for my MIL (called Heather) if I had to confess that 'Heather' has done a poop on the carpet!! Maybe not!

We could call her Daisy but after losing our lovely Daisy last year it seems wrong to call another dog the same name - although admittedly poor Poppy often gets called Daisy by mistake

Our favourites are now Blossom or Willow so maybe we can narrow it down to those two? Expect an announcement soon. Must decide for this poor nameless puppy!
go for Willow....Blossom sounds like a cow! Do a poll! I am excited can you tell!
Yep I like Willow too... Poppy & Willow. Poppy & Blossom... mmm

WILLOW!!!!!!! LOL LOL LOL LOL yes KTB im excited too :excited:

Go for the Poll karen lol lol

Hurry Up !!!! we are all waiting :excited: :excited: :excited: hahahahaha!
I vote Willow, too. :D
willow is okay, i guess......sniff, still not darcy-flower though....
Sorry Darcy but the flower theme it has to be. Anyway - would you really want 'Darcy' to be responsible for poops on the floor?? 8O
does it go with your surname? They always say Summer Mathews in the vets and you dont want her to be embarrassed!
What a hard choice.....but I do love the name Willow!
there is a beardie named Willow in one of the dogs agility classes - her sister's name is Ivy. Is willow really a flower? Nevermind - WIllow the Beardie is a "difficult" dog.
LOL yes, if your surname is say, Pillow, you would probably not want to name your dog Willow
I don't think you are allowed Willow as it is not a flower, does this mean you have to think of something else like.............................Rose, Lily, etc. :?
TIS ALLOWED...I just put willow flower in google images and there are lots of flowers!!! so there........

This is a good point!
Our surname is not 'pillow' so I think we are safe there but we still can't decide!! Why is it so hard??? We've never had this problem naming a pet before but everytime we think we've decided, one of us says.....what about ??? and it starts all over again! I've now put 'Bluebell' back into the pot (Yes I know KTB that sounds even more like a cow!)

How about.....'no name'! :?

sheesh, even Darcy-flower is better than no name
what about Flower?
I like Bluebell and I don't think of it as a cows name. :?

Did you have these problems when you named your daughters??

No! We had their names all sorted out long before they were even born - although daughter number 2 (Kelly) had got a boys name ready!

I've just run the new shortlist by Poppy to see if she reacted to any of the names (yes I know I'm crazy!) but she just tilted her head onto one side for all of them! Maybe we need to get 5 new puppies and call them all the names on my shortlist!!
Maybe you need to wait until the puppy comes home and see what name keeps coming to mind as you watch and play with her. That is what I did with both of my Aussie's.

My most recent adoption Asia (adopted about 2mts ago) came as a surprise...rehomed as an afterthought so to speak. She came with the name Sparkles so I really wanted to change it. I thought about a number of names and for some reason Asia kept coming to the for front. Her beautiful straight black hair/eye lashes and her beautiful chocolate brown eyes, the name just fit. She started responding to her new name right away.

It took awhile for me to name China as well. I was getting her from the breeder who lived right next door to me..so had a while to come up with a name. I still hadn't named her until she came home. I picked the name China because her face was all white and her eyes are blue and reminded me of Fine China. She has grown up to "fit" her name...she is very delicate looking and a sweet personality.

Violet was adopted from a rescue and my first dog in many years and first OES. She came from the Rescue with the name of Vilet...so I just changed the spelling. Violet has one blue eye and one brown eye and her name just really fit her. I did add a middle name of Jewel so Violet Jewel.

So maybe wait until puppy comes home...by the way if not Violet then I vote for Willow. :D
Hope you come up with a name, I couldn't find one that I liked or seemed to fit Dutch other than Puddles and hubby didn't want that so the poor wee soul just gets called Dutch from her registered name of Duchess of Earl  but I must say with her personality it sure fits
Unfortunately I can't really wait until she is home to see 'what fits' as the breeder has the pups microchipped a couple of days before they come home and they need to have their name registered on the microchip register. Mind you - the breeder got confused and Poppy is on the register as Daisy so I guess its not that important!
It was really nice when we got Tilly. I just came up with the name Chantilly Lace. Told the breeder and she called her by that name. Couldnt believe it when she was home first day, I called "Tilly" and she came rushing up to me "New Mum how did you know my Name!"
Karen How long have we got to wait!!! till you pick up 'Puppy' :plead:

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA I think we are all :excited: :excited: :excited:

Can you Tell!!!!!!! :excited: :excited:
We collect the new puppy on Sunday May 25th - the day after the charity ball I'm organising so there's no chance of me being all rested up ready for the sleepless nights! And..... we have finally decided on a name!!!

She will be called.....Sweetpea! We've changed our minds so many times but this was the first one that we both said - Ooohh I like that one - so it's decided! (Sorry Darcy!)

I'm now going to call the breeder so she can start to call her by her name to get her used to it and also ask if she has any new pictures..... watch this space!

Thanks for all your suggestions folks!
 I was thinking of you when I was planting the garden at the weekend, (I planted sweetpeas too)

Poppy and sweetpea, - lovely though you might have to be careful that people don't think you are saying Popeye and sweetpea!!
Great name, Sweetpea! I will be looking forward to seeing her newest pic!
Ohhh....I like Sweetpea! That's a good name for her. :P Can't wait to see pictures, Karen. I'm also anxiously waiting to hear how the ball goes this year. I'm so impressed with your efforts on behalf of the dogs. 8)
Sweetpea is a good name for a puppy :)
Aww what a sweet name!!!! :)
That's my nickname for Kaytee
(along with Cootie )
It's a lovely name for a little girl :D
