A Mad Weekend Continued....

Kristine, as she alluded only told you half of what all went on during this crazy weekend!

****The following is a LOONG explanation, please feel free to skip to the bottom for the highlights!**** :sidestep:

I don’t know really where to start…I guess I’ll go the chronological route…It all started with me getting a phone call from Gale to let me know that Luca’s sister Bebe was going to have her C-Section on Sunday evening a few hours after the dog show. Based on that information my significant other, Will and I decided that on Saturday night I would drive north from the show to help him get one of his cars out of storage, have dinner and chill out. Sunday night I would be helping with the C-Section…well as you know the best laid plans took a turn when the C-Section was re-scheduled to Saturday night following the show. Will was uncharacteristically disappointed and requested that I still come up on Saturday for the quality time we had planned on…so after giving it much thought and confirming with Gale that they had enough puppy catchers I conceded and told him I was still coming. He was happy.

Alright so Saturday rolled around and it was a LOOOOONNNG day. OES showed at 10am. Luca got breed and we were waiting for the herding group in which I am thrilled to report he got a GRP 1!!!! YYYYYEEEE HAAAA! :yay: What a way to end the day! The breeder handed me Luca and got on the road in hopes of not missing the C-Section, while Will and I were packing up Luca and my little faux Havanese Ali. Gale called and informed me there were 6 new babies! How could this evening get ANY better….?????

Now begins the interesting part of the evening……Will was in the process of making me dinner…yes a man that cooks AND loves my dogs! Anyhow, he called Ali into the kitchen and said; “Oh, my god honey, I think Ali has blood on her neck!” I quickly grab for her neck to discover that the red in question was NOT blood but a red dog tag….WHAT?? I don’t have tags on my dog collars…who could have put this here? I pull off her collar to find that yes, someone had attached a red heart shaped dog tag. I was so puzzled Will had to prompt me to read what was on the tag…”Sunny, will you marry me…Will” Yep, he was proposing, when I looked up he was on one knee with a ring in his hand…and how does this graceful woman answer, “What….WHAT?? Are you joking with me? If you are I’m going to be REALLY upset????” he responds ”This IS a real ring…” “Can I try it on???” “Sure but what is your answer?” “YES OF COURSE!!!!!!!” I was so shocked the emotional gravity of the situation didn’t hit me until about 5 minutes later when I started to cry…after all wouldn’t you if your significant other proposed to you by using one of the most important furry beasts in your life? :hearts:

Sunday starts with me being my usual dramatic self and feigning exhaustion because of the new jewelry decorating my hand…I thought none of us were going to get our dogs groomed before ring time! But we all did. I was happy because today was my turn to show Mr. Luca and we were all hoping that this was Martha’s day to finish as we all wanted to see her go to her new home in MN with LeAnne! She did finish and Luca got another GRP 1!!!

As the icing on the cake in the BIS ring I fell and performed what looked like a baseball-esk slide on the down and back….ugh graceful I am not! These are the moments in which I think that sometimes it is better to leave it to the professionals…but instead I picked myself off of the ground turned around and asked the judge if I could have a do-over…he was so concerned he kept asking if I was ok to which I assured him I was and that perhaps I should be playing baseball instead…HE DIDN’T even laugh!!! Oh well, I did my down and back again and around without falling and called it a day… what a hummbling experience  BIS went to a very nice French bully whose handler WAS able to stay on her feet!

So that is how the Mad weekend REALLY unfolded…I do believe that Dawn does have more to share about what happened in another part of the country though this very same weekend!!!! As promised here is the highlights version:

I'm surprised you didn't claim that it was the weight of the ring that threw you off balance
