Lizzie's "furst" ballgame!

Pirate, Keira and have tennis balls games almost everyday. But with the dreadful winter we've had, we're just starting to get back into it. Both Pirate and Keira are way outta shape!

Yesterday, I decided its time for Lizzie to join the team.

Well, she just doesn't get it! She is soooo funny. She's very fast, and will grab the ball, and just RUN IN CIRCLES! She will not give the ball back! Its almost like she's laughing at us! You should see Pirate and Keira going crazy, GIVE MOM THE BALL BACK OR SHE CAN'T THROW IT AGAIN! I was laughing my tush off. Everytime I got the ball and would throw it, if Lizzie got it, she just ran and ran.

I finally put her in the house so the other dogs could play!

Hmmm...maybe she needs some special tutoring!

Too funny   I just imagine Pirate and Kiera getting so exasperated 8)

When Izzie plays "fetch" with her bf Harley it is comical. She has to get the ball first...if she doesn't she body slams him to drop the ball and picks it up herself. She almost never brings the ball back. When she gets the ball she holds it for a few seconds, drops it and runs back. Then Harley picks it up and brings it back. Needless to say...Harley is a lab and understands the concept of fetch alot better than Iz.
Summer is not very good at fetch. Her fave game is tug. Yesterday I hooked the loop on her tug toy under the chair leg and sat on the chair. She actually moved the chair a couple of inches! I weigh about 126 lbs. so she might be small but she is strong. Hubby was saying she is much stronger than our other one was. Katy weighed in at 38 kg and Summer is 21.4 kg
lol...that is so funny....panda is somewhat similar....she will catch it, run back to you (but not too close) and run away with the ball still in her mouth...and YET, still look at you with ''well arentcha gonna do something??"
My German Shepherd never understood playing fetch.
He seemed to be angered by the fact that once he brought the ball back I would throw it again. He would look like, "What is wrong with you? I just brought it back and now you throw it again."

Both of my Sheepies love playing. Pepsi will only drop the ball after I say "Drop it!" Rags does not like to give the ball back... but loves playing. I need to repeat the drop it command a few times. She is always thinking Pepsi is going to steal it.
Obe kind of gets fetch but likes to try and turn it into chase. But will also only play for a short time, a few throws. then gets the look similar to the german shepard. You throw, I bring it back, you throw again. Sorry you run down the hill and get the ball, while I go get another toy...tug of war!

Priceless, Deb!!! I can almost see her. Oh, wait, I really CAN. Sort of. Sister Mags isn't much on balls, maybe that's because Sybil won't share:

But she's got the running in circles thing down

Chewie doesn't play ball. Not at all. He only wants to herd the other dog who is TRYING to play ball.
Well, I'm here to report, Lizzie just doesn't get it. I suspect she would excel at making crop circles, but not at ball. She is not a team player

So, I let her run a few laps while the others watch in disbelief, then I put her inside, and we have our game.

I'd let her be the cheerleader (she does remind me of a cheerleader) but she'd steal the ball and run laps with it!

Sounds like a Great Pyrenees! They might bring the ball back once just to be helpful, but then it's like, "Hey stupid, you threw it, you go get it."

I've only had one sheepdog who got "fetch" and we trained her in the hallway. We'd roll the ball out a way, she'd run and keep going to my DH at the other end of the hall........who'd take the ball and roll it almost to me. We repeated this several times making happy noises telling her what a good dog she was. Eventually that tiny light bulb went on over her head, "Oh yeah." Even when the game became more vigorous, longer throws including outside, she'd get bored after a dozen throws where upon she'd take the ball and drop it in the toilet.....not for a drink for herself.......just drop it in the toilet....or waterbowl outside. I guess the ball needed a drink.

ok, comments like these need to come with a warning. Something like:
Caution - may be hazardous to your health - do not read while eating lunch!

I almost choked on some cauliflower and, Sunny, you should be particularly concerned: recall that if I kick the proverbial bucket - Sybil is YOURS.

Sorry  Sure don't want to giving up the ghost due to cauliflower.....caviar maybe or a fine vine, but not a vegetable.

I'm laughing over here because I can visualize it... our Cozette La Rue (prissy little princess that she is) will take the ball straight from Matisse's mouth and just run....and run...and keep running until she gets around the back side of the house where we can't see her....

Whatever he has, doesn't matter what it is, she has to have that EXACT thing. We have 150 toys, but she has to have his. She'll pull it out of his mouth and take off and he looks at her all confused like, "Hey, what the H@ll...?" And then he looks at me like... "do you believe this?"

I can completely picture what Lizzie is doing.....and the rest of the gang looking on in amazement and confusion....LOL
Lizzie sounds like Daphne. I play fetch with my crew and hope that Frank gets the ball, he will bring it back nicely. Now if Daphne gets the ball it's a whole different game.

Daphne gets the ball. Oh now she's proud. I can almost hear her saying:

'I got the ball, look at me, I have the ball. Hey did you guys see my mouth, I have the ball. The ball is in my mouth, I am so pretty with the ball. I have the ball. Hey you guys I have the ball.

She never looks so excited about anything else. (maybe the dog park)
Yep, that sounds just like Lizzie! She is so funny. I thought by now she'd be getting the hang of it, but nope...catch the ball...and...RUN IN CIRCLES!

That's the name of her game!
my derby has this purple ball takes it everywhere if we lose it i am in big trouble
