Spike Lee has a GI bleed
Lisa brought him in, he is on Pepcid, carafate to help his gi tract, some immodium and benedryl. He also got subcutaneous IV fluids to combat dehydration. She came home from her museum job after her other boss called her (she nannies) and he said Spike didn't look so good. He started pooping bright red blood after that. He just had another bloody stool - Lisa called her mom the nurse! - and he is sleeping now. Lisa was warned he would have some more bloody stools today, as the blood was already there. Here is a picture of Lisa with Spike when they were home for Christmas - 
Spike is a 10 yr old, who was kicked around and abused. He has several old fractures and some permanent spine damage. Lisa got him last fall, she is his 3rd home. |

When Tasker was yonger he would get a GI bleed from time to time, usually after an ear infection. They cleared up quickly and it has been years since he had one. |

Lisa emailed me while I was sleeping today. Spike is doing better today. 
No new bleeding, and he is napping from his drugs. He took his pills "like a champ" today. I sent Lisa the link to this post to read and she thanks you all!!! I hope the little guy is over the hump.  |

| I talked to Lisa. Spike had a checkup yesterday. He quit bleeding, and he is just pooping dark poop - the last of the old blood.
She said he is spunky - more like his normal self. They checked his blood count, and it is still too low, so they want to see him back in a couple days to do a recheck and make sure he is regenerating new blood cells OK. Lisa sends thanks to all you well wishers. |
