I miss my couch

Cassie truly believes the couch is hers... lying down she is almost the length of the couch, about 2 and a half cushions, when she streches out, where am I gonna sit, I like the couch! I dont care for her to be up there, just share with me! If I am already on the couch, she will do one of two things... root under me, and lay down behind me, or run, and jump right on me, and put her butt up in the air like she is sitting on her head. It is funny when she does it, but when you are not expecting a 43lb puppy to jump on you... WOW!!

Cassie sounds like quite the character. Phoebe isn't allowed up on furniture unless she is "invited". But, we know, that when we are not around, she likes to nap on the sofa and sit on the love seat to look out of the back window so she can see the squirrels in the trees.
Oliver is much more demanding. If someone is sitting in "his" spot (on the end, with his head on the arm) he barks until you move, he then glides on up, and plumps down with a big old "umf". He does leave us about a half of the sofa though, in all fairness...
Snowy is just as bad. she thinks the couch is hers. Now we have leather and it is got bad marks from her claws and just her movements there. So this couch either needs to be recovered or a new one. She is now 110 months old and about 56 lbs. when she jumps at me I can fall right over.

Now Richard has let her sleep with us.  but she is good and moves if I push her. We have a king size bed and she is right in the middle. As for the couch I don't know what to do. :? :? :?
She's 110 months?
Charlie demands the couch aswell, it's clear to her that the sofa belongs to her!

Max and me often can be pleased to get a just a spot on the sofa, so we can actually sit down aswell if she "allows" us!!

So I can totally sympathize.
Couch?? What's that? Haven't been on it for several years. Bought a big club chair and ottoman to match............haven't been on that either.

I don't mind as I'm more comfortable in a chair, but if you really want the couch you'll have to become the leader and claim the couch. Her actions are her attempts at becoming a house leader. Set the rules.

You think this is cute, but what if she snaps at a guest who wants to sit on the couch? (we don't have visitors.......wonder why   )
It is amazing to me all these OES couch dwellers.
Chewie and any dog can be on the couch. All except Chewie are on them - a LOT. He is our 3rd sheepdog (all unrelated) and all 3 never wanted to be on the couch.
He does stop by for full contact hugs, but that's it. I would have to make him down and stay to get him to lay on the furniture. He doesn't even really like the carpet - he prefers the cement floor on the porch or bare floor in the bathroom. The only time he likes the carpet is when he lays next to me at the computer.
I don't remember Violet ever laying on the coach I have now. Rarely I have seen her lay on the Love seat. Usually she will lay in the "doggy" chair and China will lay across the back of it like a cat. China likes to lay there so she can see out the picture window. Usually Violet will lay on the tiled floors, in the Florida room or outside...she loves to lay outside.

China/Asia will sit next to me on the couch. I have a rug thrown there for them to sit...and yes sometimes they lay together, side by side, on it. I will try to get a pic of this because it is really funny, but Asia does not like her pic taken so takes off as soon as she sees a camera.

Oh, Violet likes to lay on my bed too. 8O
Cozette is a sneaky lil' thing. She knows she isn't allowed on the furniture, but we catch her every now and again lying on the couch hanging her arms off of the armrest like, huh? me, not allowed?? ......

All we have to do is point and she slides off.....it's really funny though.
