Thyroid and bad dander

Kiera has been on the thyroid pills for a little over a month and has had some incredible hair growth. You can no longer see her skin between her hairs on her big fat butt. But with the hair growth she has the worst case of dander I have seen. It's not those little dander flakes, these are huge and cover most of her back and neck... here are my questions:

1. Has anyone else experienced this dander thing?

2. Does anyone have any advice on what to bathe her with to mitigate the giant dander?

3. more comment than a question, Giant dander is gross!

Rosco has it on his back end, it is gross :) . Luke has it to a smaller degree. I give them omega 3 & 6 2x daily, it seems to help slightly.
All three get daily:

-Omega 3
-Vit E
-Brewers Yeast
-Gluc/Condr w/MSM
-Vit C

I have always given my fur kids supplements. This dander things has to do with the thyroid...
does your vet have any ideas on what to use? Medicated shampoo? One of my cats had this problem... we shaved him poor thing but I was am to brush at lot more and not have it in his fur. And when his hair came back he was fine. But I have all my pets on salmon dog food and it helps with their fur and skin. Just ideas.
Dander seems to come and go and varies from dog to dog. My hypo thyroid OES was not one of my dogs who occasionally got this problem so I doubt it is related to the thyroid. More likely to be just dry skin although it wouldn't hurt to have your vet check it.

I once got a bottle of emollient from my vet for dry, itchy skin especially for spots where there is hair loss. I mixed it in a spray bottle with water and sprayed it on after a bath. The bottle lasted a long time-- I still have some left, three dogs later. It's called Derma Oil and has a nice citrusy scent too.
Sassy has extremely low thyroid and when we rescued her about a year ago, her skin was horrible. It took several months for the meds to really kick in and for the dander to subside. Now she's fine and only needs bathed every few months. No dander and no stinky smell. :-)

Try some medicated shampoo from the vet or professional groomer. Much stronger than the stuff from the local pet supply stores. Adding Omega-3 to the diet helps, too. We shaved Sassy down and used a puppy brush on her until the flakes went away. She's got great looking skin now. :-)
thanks for the feedback. I'm taking her to get a bath tomorrow and will use the medicated shampoo. She already takes the omega 3 and I server fish at home 2 times per week, so they all get the skin off the salmon each time...
