I hope by now you are at an Emergency Vet! This doesn't sound good! Please keep us posted as to the outcome. I'll be praying for Don!
Oh dear - You're in my thoughts as well too Don and I pray everything will be okay.

My Shaggy had symptoms like your buddy and it turned out to be immune dyfecientcy thyrombocytopenia...in a nut shell the immune system attacks itself. Unlike humans , dogs can have blood transfusions from any other dog. While it would be dangerous for anyone to offer advice without seeing your dog , BritPresSyd is correct I'm hope the vet is able to give the proper diagnosis.

What you could do if you are still home is lift up your dog's jowls and press gently on his gums. Do they return to pink or does it stay white when you do this? This is an indicator of low blood count if it stays white and needs to be told to the vet that you need them in there ASAP.

If you have another dog or a friend with one, ask them to meet you at the vets office in case your dog needs a transfusion and no time is wasted. It's always better to be safe regarding blood loss.

I'll be praying for you as will this entire group, please keep us posted.

I really hope you went to an emergency vet! Please let us know how things go! Good luck :)
I did go to the emergency vet but we were unable to help him make it. don passed away yesterday in his sleep. he bled profusely through his mouth and it was so hard to watch him slowly leave us. don has been by first and only dog and i am sure you all know how hard it is. i'd just like to tell all of you to make sure your dog gets his/her vaccine for the parvo virus.
its amazing how they come into your life and change it, imparting their unconditional love.
i will always love him.
I'm so sorry for your loss. I know the terrible void you are feeling, as do all the people here who have lost their dogs.

If there is anything positive, its that your dog went quickly, and doesn't seem to have suffered much.

Peace be with you...keep the sweet memories near.

Deborah
I'm so sorry for your loss! Don was greeted by many friends at the Bridge.

How old was he? I haven't ever heard of Parvo Virus effecting a dog in that way. How horrible for you to go through. My heart goes out to your family.

I'm so sorry for your loss. :(
I also have never heard of parvo doing that, it sounds like auto immune hemolytic anemia to me....
I am so sorry for your loss and the fact that you could do nothing to help your love and friend. It is a reminder to each of us to keep an eye on our beloved furry children and anything that seems out of place, it is important to get it looked into right away. My vet thinks I am a little too over the top, but I would rather be that way than have something happen that I could have prevented with a visit to the Doctor.

My heart goes out to you at this time. Please know that we are here for you to share your memories of your baby.

God speed Don!
Hi,

I was deeply saddened to hear the loss of Don, you have my heartfelt sympathies. Many of us on this site have experienced the grief that you now must feel and understand what you are going through.

Please feel free to visit the forum on Crossing the Rainbow Bridge where those of us whom have lost our beloved friends write tributes to them there.

Hugs from Marianne
