Cell Phone recommendations please

Can anyone recommend a cell phone w/ great reception. I have an LG 300.
At&t carrier. I see people talking on their cells where i only zero bars.
About 7 years ago I had a tiny simple motorola cell.
I got great reception when others couldn't. I loved that phone but couldn't hear the ringer. I wasn't able to increase volume so I bought the LG.
Anyone happy w/ their phone & wish to share?

HI Sue,

I have AT&T now as a carrier. I started with Cellular One, which
changed to Cingular wireless and is now AT& T.
I have never had a dropped call, and have used it in Canada
to call home with very clear reception.

I have a small Motorola which I bought from Cingular to
upgrade. I'll get the model # for you, I am sure they
have an upgraded model you may want to check out. **

I love the phone because it is small to carry, but good signal
strength except in Vermont because of the mountains.

Good luck finding a cell phone!

** its a Motorola V551 GSM
I wonder if it's more than just the phone (maybe a bad one?) ...because LG's usually don't have any problems, so I've been told several times by representatives. Then again, I've got the same phone and though I've had 0 problems with reception and we're in a place people are NOTORIOUS for drop offs/bad reception... I've had other problems with it.
I have Verizon as my carrier and an LG Cherry Chocolate.
I love my phone and always get great reception.
Hubby also has an LG, not sure of the model.... But a few weeks ago it flew out of his shirt pocket while he was on his motorcycle on the freeway.
He stopped the bike to look for the phone, found the phone, minus the battery. He grabbed the battery out of my old LG and guess what? It still works. It hit the ground and then the guard rail at about 90 mph. 8O
Also ATT (also Cellular One>Cingular>ATT )

I have the Pantech 150. I get good reception, and I chose it because I wanted really small and lightweight, but it's REALLY SMALL AND LIGHTWEIGHT. There is something to be said about being able to see the white phone laying on the white (chair, comforter, mantle, counter top, etc) I wanted a Smart Phone so I could access the internet, but when I was getting this one I wasn't trusting of the iphone yet - thought there would be too many bugs with the first version so I waited. I have a number of friends who have the iphone and they love it - no issues. Wish I would have just done it then - probably will this summer.

I had the Blackjack - that phone was awful, I took it back. Before that I had the Motorola SLVR which I loved. I only switched because I dropped it in water. Everything except the camera was spared, and I tend to use the camera on my phone. It was only slightly larger than the Pantech, but it was heavier - that made a difference because I knew when it was in my pocket.
Good topic, Sue. I've been wondering the same thing myself. I have AT&T via Cellular One, as well. I have the Motorola Slvr and the reception stinks. I seem to have a knack for choosing phones with lousy reception. I will check into the ones recommended here. I am due for a new phone anyway. It's been 18 months already.
I have the Motorla Razr. It sucks. I can't hear anything on it. No problems with reception, the phone just doesn't get loud enough. Forget talking anywhere with ambient noise-- I don't even bother answering it.

Ditto. I am so sick of my Razr! I love the size but have been disgusted with the phone in general.
I have an LG 8700. It is all stainless steel, looks sharp. It is very thin but feels very substantial in the hand. It was a little pricey but not too bad.

I have the opposite problem with it -- it gets too loud and there's very little control of the volume, so the speaker phone is always crackling and cracking up, and if I'm listening to someone closely in regular mode and they speak loudly it actually hurts my ear.

The thing feels great in the hand and I love the way it looks, so I guess this is an endorsement, but I'm not particularly fond of the skinny front screen nor the flat buttons. I think I saw another version of this phone with a large front screen, but it was in BestBuy and was an ATT phone, so it wouldn't work with Verizon, I assume.

Also the back cover gets quite hot while in use.
not sure of which LZ i have but i have Verizon. Now it won't work when i come up to Canada, and it won't work when i go down to Mexico or further.

I am looking into the ATT as i can get a program chip for when i go out of the country.............
I have the AT&T Tilt. The only downside is it a bit heavy. But it is a PDA...
3G, GPS, internet, activesync, Windows mobile, camera.
The battery life is much better than my last LG. I love it.

iPhone - my husband's boss couldn't get it to work with the company's email service, so he got rid of it. 8O
I have been told that the iPhone is 2G, though they are supposed to be releasing a 3G this summer. Several people have complained about the internet being slow on the iPhone. The wierdest complaint (IMO) is that sound for the phone is bad, but the music sounds fine.
I have no problem with my Iphone. I have everything I needed put on the desktop, just like a computer. The GPS function is very easy to use. I have oes.org icon set on the desktop. Just one touch, I was able to access to the private message E sent me about the pet friendly restaurant info. Highlight the restaurant, I can easily google it and get the address, GPS routing and telephone number to call for reservation.
I also have MSN set up and my email system set up to receive both my work and home emails with just one touch access. You have to switch off the WiFi in order to get the email working.

All these functions are accessible by just one touch on the desktop screen.

The reception is also excellent.

Using the telephone line to go online is kind of slow but if you switch to WiFi, there is no problem.
I just looked and they have their cell phones and ratings here:
