Trying to track possible relatives of my OES

Hello--I am brand new to this forum--have a question. My OES, and best buddy Nannah passed last November--she was 14 and a half, and of course, I miss her terribly. It occured to me a week or so ago to wonder if there were any way to track descendents--she was an AKC pup, tho not a show dog, and I do have her papers. It looks as if the original breeder is no longer in the area (Northern California), but I do know that Nannah was from a large litter, all of whom were adopted before her. Does any one have any suggestions? I know it's been almost 15 years, but thought it might be worth a shot! Thanks in advance--I can see from the posts that you are all as much in love with your sheepsdogs as i am/was! Suzanne

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. But you gave her a good long life. I lost my Rosie at 14 3/4 in November too.

What is the kennel name on your girl's papers? or the name of the breeder? That would help us in telling you who or where to find her breeder.......

Hi and welcome to the forum, here is a link that may help you trace back the pedigree, this a database a lot of OES owners use.

Best of luck and keep us informed. :D
I did the same thing! After I lost Sophie, I was desperate to find a puppy related to her. I used that site and also started calling everyone registered from her litter number. After awhile I also started looking at puppies and rescue dogs. I finally chose a puppy that was just flat out so much like my Sophie, she really has her spirit. I was comforted instantly - and not having any of her genes hasnt bothered me at all. I say all that to just let you know that you are not alone. I did the same thing in missing my friend and in the end, feel the best thing was just getting an oes with similar characteristics because sometimes being from the same line won't get you that. Also, rescuing dogs in her name is my favorite tribute to her and I know she would be pleased.
Hi, again--thank you to all that responded...it's taken me a little time to respond--a little teary, I guess! It looks like Nannah's breeder may not have left behind too much information....which may be just as well...perhaps a sign that I should put my energy and love into finding a dog who needs a home, and as you all said, let that be the tribute to Nannah! I will hang around the forum--you all seem like terrific folks--thanks again!!! Suzanne
Rescue is a great way to go...and they sure seem to appreciate having that furever home. Sorry about your Nannah.
Welcome! You know the reason you and I started showing up at this forum is EXACTLY the same - OMG!
I think that's great that you joined for same reasons--tells me I must be in the right place! :-)
