I want to see a Space Shuttle Launch-Or a Rocket Launch

Has anyone been to a Space Shuttle or another rocket launch?

Can you describe it? I know that the pics and the video can't do it justice, and the descriptions are usually so bland for something that must be so awe inspiring. Can you tell about the experience in personal vivid emotional terms?

I SOOOO much wanted to see that nighttime Shuttle Endeavor launch on March 11th, but the HappieCamper is still in the repair shop.

Nope - like you only on TV or seeing pictures. :(
My husband has been to Florida twice and both times he has seen one take off.

He said they were miles away but you feel the ground shaking and the light of the shuttle as it travels up. he said its better in the dark, as you can see it more clearly!

He said it only lasts a few seconds before it is gone!!
I would love to experience it....
Violet (Helen) has seen it go up more than once. She lives pretty close to there. 8)
i live 3 miles from there it is way too cool the dogs hate the sonic boom .. anytime you are welcome on my balcony we have great launch parties
Hi Ron,
I was a guest of Boeing for a shuttle launch. It is quite an experience. I was about three miles from the launch pad, actually in the area where you see the countdown clock on TV. The eath shakes and the noise is thunderous. If you get the opportunity to see a launch definitely do it. It is a very unique experience. Remember, the shuttle program only has about two more years left before it shuts down.

FYI, NASA offers very limited tickets to the public on their web site about six to eight weeks before a shuttle launch. They are first come first served and I believe you can only get two tickets. They are usually gone within two or three minutes of being offered. Rocket launches are closed to the public and the only way to see one of these it by invitation from a NASA subcontractor. Of course you can the the launches from around the areas near the space center. You are just not as close.

I would love to see some kind of night launch, shuttle or rocket. Will have to bug my Boeing rep for an invite!! Try and see one in person. It is really worth it!
