What a winter!

This from Cocorahs.org newsletter this morning, like some of you don't already know this:

Quote:
Wisconsin and extreme northern Illinois -- a crazy winter After a winter of relentless storms, last weekend brought one more bigsnow to southern Wisconsin pushing snowfall totals up close to 100" for the season. Milwaukee, where snow has been measured each year for over 120 years, their untouchable record of about 115" set back in the winter of 1885-86 is now being challenged. And while last week's 15" snow is melting quickly, guess what? Yet another storm is headed there way. This time, the ingredients may not all come together, but do keep an eye on the forecast. Remember, an easy way to view current and forecast weatherconditions for anywhere in the country is via www.noaa.gov

I wish you all a lovely spring......few showers, just sun to melt your snow and dry the upper soil levels, leaving you mud-less sheepdogs (whatever those are)

We missed a lot of the stuff that hit Milwaukee and Madison areas.
But this coming one is still aimed at us. So far according to the predictions, we are in the peak rain, then snowfall range. Yuck! I hope the weather man is wrong! (It must be my fault, I recently washed the Element).

Well, quick!! Muddy the darn thing up!

I still have four foot snow banks along my driveway, down from 6-7' so I guess that's something

I'm trying - trust me!! It doesn't take long with 2 miles of gravel to drive on to get out to the highway!
I have sent Todd in to get another 1/2 load of mulch for the dog yard - I want to get it down before the rain and snow hit. I really would like a full load, but a half will have to do. Why??? - because the yard is mush and I can't back the truck up to the fence. It will have to get hauled in and dumped over by hand.

I swear, I should just evacuate for 6 weeks in the spring!!
Thanks Kristine...now I have to clean coffee off the screen!
I'm looking forward to mud..... right now it's still snow snow snow :(
It worked!!
:yay: I got the Element dirty again, and I woke up to no more snow!!! :phew:

The radar shows it right on our doorstep still (same as when I went to bed). For some reason it is just fizzling out. Or maybe it was because the weather man said "100% chance of precipitation - rain and snow" and the weather needed to make the weather man wrong again!

Well done!!!

According to my Weather Desktop thingie, it's snowing here. According to the radar, it's snowing here. According to actual observations (mine) it isn't. BUT I suspect it will be. We just don't get that lucky.

Yesterday it was close to 50 degrees and the garden center next door advertised pansies for sale. I almost put my car in the ditch when I saw the sign 8O Today all mention of flowers has been removed. Oh, well. It was a nice dream.

Kristine
LOL - I would have ditch hopped too!
We were in the 40's too. I bet we will see the pansies soon. They are a newer hardy version and can handle the cold spring weather. I actually bought some last spring (the marketing worked!) and they did just fine. :D :D
Todd had the day off yesterday, so we got a start picking up crap (well, that too!) in the yard. It was so nice to be out in a light jacket!
I finally took down my snowy winter scene yard flag, and put a spring one up - robins on a nest. :D Maybe I should have done it sooner......
Now I am gloating!! (what a weird word)
We got no snow and no rain... nothing!

The sun is out and it is 40 degrees. :D :D I just got my high jump and itty bitty tunnel out and ran Chewie through them, as well as a few other misc. training.

And - the big long flocks of blackbirds are here. They have been streaming by and over me all day. It makes we want to cover my head - I don't want to get pooped on.

Yeah, well, let's see, snow, rain or BIRD POOP. I think I'll stick with our slushy mix in that case  It's not actually sticking on the ground or stinking up my hair, to that's a bonus.

Instructor reminded me that I'll be able to work outside again in no time - it's hard to work entries on 12 weavepoles when it basically takes up the length of your livingroom :cow: I think she was just trying to cheer me up. I'll believe it when I see it.

Though I do think my teeter base is unstuck now, so if it stops raining maybe I can get some pictures for Kerry...unless she's given up on ever seeing spring too... 8O

Darcy, you are very bad

Had to ruin my little spring happiness.

I'll remember that when my big juicy tomatoes are ripe in my garden...so many that I can't eat them all and they are falling off to the ground and rotting.....
I've been avoiding posting here, too, as I didn't want to gloat over our sunny days and temps in the high 70s this week. Just seems mean.

Well, it IS getting kind of ugly. Threats of future tomato gloating, calling people evil (oops, that would be me!) Not pretty...

We're obviously beyond the point where showing us pretty pictures of spring flowers or walks on beaches in the hopes of reminding us that spring/summer will indeed arrive has any positive effect and now we've just become plain old MEAN and CRANKY

Honestly, I've been through one winter before, upstate NY though, that had a similar detrimental effect. You really do begin to abandon hope.

I'm still warming up my car in the morning and trying not slip on the ice as I take the garbage to the curb. One of the backroads wasn't salted this morning and the road was covered with a thick sheet of ice, so I'm just coasting along, trying not to glance at the ditch.... This is not fun!!! I can't remember what a sunny day in the 70s feels like. But wait, spring will arrive here and if you think this is bad, wait till we start pissing and moaning about the MUD

You ain't seen nothing yet

Kristine
Ok, I have it....an actual sing of spring!!! I was waiting and watching, looking out the back windows at what used to be a yard. This morning as I was looking at the muddy mess, big puddles all over the place, thinking will this ever dry out, I SAW A ROBIN!!!!! Yessireeeee an actual ROBIN. When I was younger I was told seeing a robin was the first sign of spring and for some odd reason I've held on to that. So for those of you who have lost hope...its in my backyard!!
We saw a Robin yesterday here as well.....hmmmm...maybe I havent moved into forever winterland after all!

These are the people that will be sweltering in the summer with temps over 100. Laugh now, for soon you will be schvitizing.
So true, Paula!! So true!!

Feel free to remind me of this in July when I'm complaining that it's too hot & muggy to breathe, let alone actually walk outside. 8)
schvitizing, smitchving.....im wearing open toe sandals and capri's today...
