a day ago I tried to pick up a package off the front step. QVC.
it was raining and the bag broke, I fell back right on my bum, back and hit my head.

I'm sure your doctor is wondering why as well. I'm assuming you've had a bone density scan lately. Also a complete blood work up. Balance issues may be inner ear problems, eye problems, or muscle problems.....as well as a host of other problems. Once you are back in one piece it might benefit you to work with a physical therapist to see if they can pinpoint a problem.
Aaaah, let's also look at those personal things you eluded to. Continued stress is not good for you physically as well.

Otherwise we are going to have to get you into a giant foam suit and football helmet.

Friend went thru a spate of broken bones and other misc for about 14 months and has been injury free now for a year. So maybe you...and her...are just having some bad luck.
Here's hoping it's just a short run of clumsy bad luck. Hope it's come to a close and the bruises are a distant memory.

Without stress we automatically heed safety precautions without much thought, but the stress could be causing you to concentrate more on the 'problem/s' rather than on what you're doing which could lead to your injuries.

Stay safe.

Good advise here...if you haven't already done this, get to the dr's. My daughter had similar problems and was diagnosised with a nerve muscle disease....could be stress, but important for you and dr to start investigating. You don't want to be afraid of leaving your home...not a good way to live. Please get help. Good luck!
My friend Mary is in the same boat. She was going to a nursing seminar a month ago. She tripped on uneven concrete in the entry way and tore some tendons off in her ankle. She has been in a rocker boot to immobilize it. Then she banged her "good" ankle with the boot, and got a huge bruise.

She was out soaking in her hot tub a couple days ago, and as she was getting out, the gimpy ankle gave out. She fell aganst the metal framing on the hot tub with her left shoulder. She now has a fracture on the head of the humerus! :(
Sometimes bad luck is the only luck you have.
Have you tried asking your doctor about muscle builder exercises! :)

If you cant' change being accident prone, maybe you can help yourself heal faster or have less of an injury. Our bodies aren't designed to hold muscle mass after 30 ...especially for women. On top of losing something like 20% of it every year, so you have to build some muscles for when you fall, so you're able to support your frame on thin strands of atrophied(?) muscle.
I akways find that I start to have a lot of accidents when I am either under a lot of stress or trying to do too much. I usually think its my body's way of getting me to take a deep breath and slow down.
