Not his time yet!

Hi Everyone,

Thought I'd start a new post as the other one was lengthy - thanks to all the kind and wonderful responses.

Blue is going to be with me a little while longer!!

While arthritic and having old age related problems he's still got a strong heartbeat, healthy appetite and no signs of dementia as he's still very alert and aware. Just like me..nyuck nyuck the mind is active but sometimes the body doesn't co-operate.

The bad news is his arthritis is worse - those bumps I felt on his spine were actually his spine. He's losing muscle mass as he ages so his hip bones, spine bones ect..can be felt more easily. Not only is his back leg weakening but he also has developed arthritis in his front leg (same side) as well. So sometimes he's lopsided which is what concerned me in the first place.

I wasn't aware I could have him on both Glucosamine 3 X(contains the other supplements) and Medacam at the same time which is what the vet recommended. Previous to the Medacam he was on Glucosamine. Now he'll have both again. He's also going for weekly Cartrophen Injections. She also suggested Proflex as an alternative to the Glucosamine but I'll wait as I have a a lot of Glucosamine left as I also use it for Panda.

So while I was psyching myself up for the worse (you guys knew I was doing that didn't you?) My Ole Blue is going to be with me for a little while longer!!!!! :go:

Thanks again! You guys are the best!

Marianne

Great news, Marianne! :D
I often refer to him as the Energizer Bunny. :D

Although these photos were taken in Aug when the Ole guy had dental surgery - it was almost the same greeting he recieved from Merlin when he arrived home. Lots of kisses from Merlin and a nuzzle from Panda.

I will!!!

Thanks again everyone for being there for me. I had been preparing myself for the past couple weeks and felt the need to write about my old boy. I thought spring break was going to be when I said goodbye to him. I was wrong.

What a difference the injection made! He's going up and down the stairs and racing around the yard in his funny gait like run.

I do appreciate all the wonderful responses, so thank you to all.
