I just adopted today!

I adopted Oola today from the Castaic animal shelter. I went there looking for a calm, gentle, small, friendly campanion for my Itailian Greyhound and came home with 4 yr old Oola. She is gentle and large. She looks to have been neglected and possible a puppy mill bitch. She moves very stiffly and slowly like she is 10 not 4 yrs old. All she wants to do is sleep, so far. She has been shaved and looks very timid. So far she and my Italian Gryhound are doing fine together, but i need to get her a crate. I can't wait to see how she looks with all her hair and if she is more energetic with better nutition. I'm scared having this new dog in my house- I hope she works out.

Congratulations!
If you haven't already done so, make a vet apt. for her immediately. You'll want to get her checked out (especially if you suspect she's been mistreated) and make sure she has a clean bill of health. I realize it may be to late now, but you'll want to limit the time her & your greyhound are together until she has been given a clean bill of health just in case. She has a lot of new things to get used to so a crate to call her own is definitely something she does need. If you aren't that familiar with sheepdogs (I only say that since you mentioned you went there looking for something else), please do any and all research you can on the breed. They are great dogs, but they do have their quirks. The more you know about the breed the better off you and Oola will be. We adopted a 1 yr. old from the pound about 2 1/2 months ago. After a bout of kennel cough and hook worms (thankfully our other OES was up to date on her shots and on Heartguard!) and finally learning to potty outisde, he seems to be fitting in well. He still has issues with some people (mostly large men), but is progressing. My point- The first month or so was hell! Hang in there! educated yourself and ask lots of questions. It'll all be worth it soon! Though i haven't had any experience with ex-puppy mill bitches, I know there are people out on the list that are way more experienced than I...They could probably recommened and good suppliment or activity to help loosen her joints. Again Congratulations and keep us posted! :D
