Friend Needs Advice - Ear Infection

My co-worker has a standard poodle. A couple of weeks ago she noticed that there was wax build up in the ears with a slight smell. She took the dog into the vet and the vet gave her baytril (sp?) drops and put her on keteo (sp?) for yeast. 2 weeks later there is green puss and gunk coming out of the dogs ears. She took the dog back to the vet and they put it on prednisone, sepro (sp?) antibiotic, the baytril and the keteo.

She is very worried as the ears are so badly infected when they weren't that bad to start with.

Anyone have any suggestions on what she should do?

I would request Panalog! It was the only thing that was able to clear up ear yeast infections in my German Shepherd Harley's ears. He had life long problems with his ears and allergies.

After fighting with the Dr for months over the Panalog, they finally agreed to prescribe it. It cleared up pretty quickly with the Panalog.
We also used Malaseb Ear Rinse (wash?). After we found the Malaseb we used it on a weekly basis and his ear infections finally stopped once and for all. It cleaned his ears and it also helped dry the inside of the ear.

I was also prescribed Panalog when I rescued my first dog, Scooter, a toy poodle. He had one of the worst ear infection I have ever seen. The ear infection started clearing up in a few days.
London used to get annoyng yeast based infections allllllllllll the time until my vet suggested us to use Mometamax, a liquid ear med.... It cleared up within two or three days and London havent had an ear infection since summer of 2007.
Maggie had a recent ear infection that was yeast in origin. Our vet prescribed Tri-Otic for it. It is a combination of 3 ingredients:Gentamycin Sulfate, USP Betamethazone Valerate and USP Clotrimazole. It cleared hers up quick, in one treatment round. This one is prescibed twice a day for 21 days. It was clear on recheck in 2 weeks though.

Bubba, my recent foster had one too. He was prescribed a different brand, but the same ingredients (seen by a different vet in the office!), and his was cleared up in about 2 weeks also when they checked him when he went in for his tumor removal.

Another good thing to do is use some sort of earwash routinely, if the dog seems prone to trouble. 2 that I like are the blue power wash ( link below for info)

and also a product by ppp (Professional Pet Products) called Ear Cleaner with Eucalyptol. I buy it locally, and there is no web site listed on the label. :(

Hope this helps!
