"who's there?"
"Peeps"
"Peeps who?"
"Peeps never mind i'll let myself in"
for about 6 months now, Peeps has been able to let herself in through the back door. at first, i thought she got lucky, then i thought maybe the door was broken. but no. she stands up, puts both paws around the door knob, and turns--- presto! she's in. it's a very odd sight -- a shaggy head through the glass windowpane, then coming in the kitchen like a little person.
there are some definite draw backs to this. like, she leaves the door open for all the cold air to come in, and you're sitting in the livingroom saying, "yikes, it's freezing in here!" or if you're trying to sweep the kitchen floor, and you forgot to lock the door (cause that's the only way she can't open it) and she and her cronies that have come to depend on her know-how, come running in and scatter the dirt everywhere.
i don't mind that she comes in on her own, but i keep saying that i have to teach her to close it behind herself!
does anyone else have a crazy dog that does this? peeps actually uses her paws like hands, or how a bear would. she'll move chairs out of her way by gripping its leg and pulling or pushing it in the dirrection she chooses.
oh well, i better go check and see if the back door's closed.
Pepsi has opened locked doors. Rolling Eyes
Recently I left the house, set the alarm, forgot to lock the deadbolt and I guess Pepsi tried to open the front door and set off the house alarm. Laughing The deadbolt gets locked all the time now.
hey! maybe it's a letter thing---pepsi--peeps ????
that's very funny, though!
I am starting to think he may have hidden retractable thumbs. Laughing
My Dixie girl opens the back door into the house. The handle is the kind that is horozontal and you pull down on it to open. She jumps up and graps at it until it comes down, she pushes agaisnt the door and voila.
Yes, the cold and wind are the indictors of her talants!

We have to remember to lock the door when she is outside.. Shocked
Sheepies are so smart!!! Rolling Eyes

OMG that got me laughing!!
I was all ready to reply that my horse can open doors. We have a side door on our barn, it is an old metal door that Todd got from work (a fire door) and has a regular round metal knob. He grabs it with his teeth and turns it. We needed to put a safety loop on it, or he opens it and lets everyone into the entry area of the barn!

Oh, and his name is..........

Pete!
Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy
Luke can open the door to the garage, to keep the p thing going we sometimes call him Pukey Lukey Wink
Panda opens the family room door...she headbutts it until it opens...she also has not learned how to shut the door behind her Rolling Eyes
If my dog were that smart, I'd encourage it and go buy a self-closing (spring) hinge (probably about $20). Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy
Laughing Haha! So many smart sheepies! Well, I can add to the name theory another direction: Bingley can NOT open doors, and his name does NOT start with a P . . . Rolling Eyes
Bob canNOT open doors and his name starts with B!
Clayden walks into the door because his name starts with "C" Laughing
Basil has not yet opened any of our doors that lead to the outside but he did figure out how to use the foot pedal to open our garbage can (now it's locked) and can open some of the doors around the house.
Well Mona Lisa runs into the glass door but definitely cannot open any Your sheepies are smarter I think!!
