How quickly does it grow?

I am new to OES. I will be getting my first puppy in June. Seeing all the pictures on this site I have grown to prefer the shaved look on an OES. How quickly does an OES's coat grow? If I have the groomer use a' five' setting four times a year is that enough or should I plan to have 'him' groomed more often.

Congrats on your upcoming pup!

The coat grows approx 1 inch a month.
I shave Pepsi about 5 or 6 times a year. For the most part I keep him short year round. Except I did grow him out this past winter, so he was only groomed about 4 times in the last year.
Rags only gets done about 3 - 4 times. I usually keep Rags in a longer coat.
Pepsi is one of the dogs that I admired. 5 or six times a year. Sounds good to me.
Aw, thanks! :D

I decided after my first trip to the groomers, that I could do a better job. Pepsi had come home with a Terrier cut. Even though I had said one length ALL over.

I went out and bought myself a good set of Andis clippers and have been doing myself ever since.
It has saved me a ton of money and I enjoy grooming the dogs.
Being in Buffalo Grove...4 times a year with a very short cut should be fine. Growing up our OES were cut around 4 times a year and required very little brushing. In Illinois getting cut around the middle of June of beginning of July meant that they were short for the hottest months.

Welcome!!!
Welcome!!

During the summer, I shave panda every 6 weeks to keep her at 1/4 to 1/2"...its a lot easier to do a quick shave down every so often rather than have to spend copious amount of time in one session.....at least it is for me!
I get George cut every 10 - 12 weeks but in that time he does grow back to being fairly long again!!
