Is there a club in the Dallas area?

I love my sheepie puppy and am looking for the best hobby for my lifestyle. Anyone have advise? How would I even start showing her, rescuing or what? Of course, just enjoying her is great, but wanted to explore options. I noticed that some of you have great gatherings, picnics, etc. Are there enough sheepie lovers in North Texas to start something?

Not to sure if there is a club in the north texas area, but there is quite a few sheepie owners around maybe we could start something up. and see what will happen.I'm in Wills Point Tx 50 mls east.
How should we start? Any other sheepie lovers from Texas on the forum?
Hmmm...Where are the sheepie lovers in Texas?
I'd recommend finding a good dog park and perhaps having a meet up. I've been taking my 4 month old pups to the park every afternoon since they completed their vaccinations. Its been great meeting other dog owners.
I'm in OKC but I go to the North Dallas area often, so if there ever is a gathering, I'd love to come!

Mom of 3 is in that area, and Druby's dad too, I believe.

I've re-homed two from that area in the last six months, so I know they're there!
Thanks, I will check out the area for dog parks. I will follow your advice about waiting a bit until my puppy is a little older and all shots are complete.

I have heard a few comments from the forum that lead me to believe that there are a few oes that have been rescued from here and it doesnt seem there is a Dallas area rescue for oes. Wonder why?
If you want to show start with your breeder. Find a conformation class and go to that, enter puppy matches if you can find some. Go to shows and watch the grooming and the dogs in the ring, you'll pick up some good tips.

As for rescue, contact the TX rescue group and offer your services, They always need fosters, home checks, transport, etc.

We're in the Dallas area too! :) Nanny hasn't seen another OES since she left her mom and siblings.
There used to be a Texas club, but it was disbanded 6 years or so ago now??/

There are some great breeders in the Dallas Tx area...... Joy Kelley, Enid Fritz are 2 of them right off the top of my head......

Maybe you guys need to start a new one..........
How about meeting May 4th? I have a spot for us at a park in Irving. Leashes are required but the area is nice with pavillions, acreage, etc. near the airport, 183, 161, etc.? maybe an easy thing mid afternoon for the first time.
Good news - I am going to start posting this under play dates - so check there and please respond. I just got on ok from the owner of a large training facility in DFW area to have our meet. This way the dogs can run leash free and there are a few agility set ups there for those of you that like that stuff.
Don't know if you've heard about this group. Granted they are rescue, but also a group of sheepdog lovers.

Here is an invitation to the 2008 Texas Old English Sheepdog Rescue Picnic.

NEXT PICNIC
SATURDAY – APRIL 19, 2007
10 AM – 5 PM

www.texasoesrescue.org/PIC2008.htm

Bring your family and your four legged friends, even if they were not adopted from Texas OES Rescue.

I saw this but am confused. The date says 2007 so I assumed it was last year's picnic. They are a great rescue. I enjoy seeing their rescue stories and recently contributed for one sad little guy that needed medical help.
HaHA! Good catch! Big "Oooops!" (I've done that...)

I don't know for sure, but 2007 looks like a typo, since April 19th IS a Saturday in 2008.
Oh, Steve Schott is probably soooo

He's the prez and mailed it out.........and I didn't catch the boo boo either    Sorry.
