George in Texas

Hi Friends,

I don't like to judge but this is really ruthless if you ask me. George's family gave him up because they retired, moved to a smaller house and "want to travel".

He's 11 years old!

Seems like a great guy, http://www.petfinder.com/petnote/displa ... d=10397232 .

They gave up their dog after 11 years to travel... give me a break. I hope George finds a great home to spend his golden years.

End of Rant.

How sad....hopefully some one will give George and loving home...........
That is sad..... I also hope he finds a home. I really do not understand how someone can give them up that easy AND after so many years. :(
Poor George must be so confused by being separated from his family! You are so right - this IS ruthless! He's a beautiful boy.
I hope George find a wonderful home.

I hope that it RAINS hard.. everyday that his old families travels.
Rains, thunderstorms, tornado's.....
Karma...
How do you do that to a dog after 11 years?
While I still do not understand how people do that they are ahead of my exwife that had her dog put down because it was interfering with her travel.

I remember once David said I would pick money the kids then him (before dogs) trying to make me feel bad. I said nope kids THEN money then him maybe  NOW it would be dogs and then money(have to feed them) and he can keep the kids(teenages  ) I think that scared him more. 8) Because he never said it again. 8O
Sounds to me like there was never a bond between dog and family. Possessions are more easily discarded. Most  family members aren't.
That's so sad :(
I like to think "what goes around comes around" so George will go to a furever where they absolutely adore him and never leave him home alone. And his old family will miss him so much but George won't even look at them.
Poor George!
Ya can't change the owners so we can only hope better ones come along for
George this time around. It is upsetting to see an ol' guy like that being
turned in so owners can travel. Being 11, it doesn't seem like he'd be that
demanding.

Georgie... you deserve the very best and I'm glad TexOESR is there to give
you a chance to find a family that will truly love you and will be there "til
death do us part". Smoochies you, ya big handsome boy. :hearts:

Probably a good thing they don't fly dogs...
boy that makes me so mad glad i can't curse at them !! arrrrrrrrr
What's that song where the father was too busy for the son while the son was growing up and, later, when the father had the time, the son wasn't interested in the father?
Wonder how these people treat their human family members if they treat their dog like this. Karma will get them one day.

Actually when I saw this post I did think - well at least they didn't have him put down.

I wonder if his age and stiffness has more to do with him being put up?

How in gods name can anyone do that to their 11 year old dog - how cruel to be tossed aside like an old rag. I'd say, not poor George, but lucky George that he will find a REAL family who loves him even if it has taken him 11 years. I hope those travelin' retirees are happy...
The song is "Cats in the Cradle" by Harry Chapin.

Good song. Makes you remember what is really important.
How does someone do that? I am in Texas and will try to see if there is someone who could keep and love him. Anyone know where he is in Texas? (kind of a big place)

George probably doesn't care if there is a small yard at his age! He probably won't live more than three more years - and there are dog sitters...

I am just furious. We can't keep up taking care of the dogs that are in a tragedy much less irresponsible people that through dogs away for everyone else to deal with
