Incoming! Incoming! Incoming!

It was late at night when I heard sobs coming through the telephone lines from the manager of the small animal shelter. The roof was damaged and we needed to get the critters out for a week to ten days in order to repair the damage. Where could they go? Could I possibly take a few? Um how many? A few would probably be in the double digits.

So the last couple days I've been frantically busy on the weekend and after work getting all the pens ready. I knew when I purchased a gazillion crates/pens at second hand stores and took offers of free ones that "someday" they might be needed. They are all folded and stored under my porch.

The previous night I got a van full of critters and had to set them up before going to bed. It means getting up an hour or so earlier in order to get them all fed before work. Yesterday, I spent 6 hours in my yard giving them some play time in x pens on the grass before bringing them all in again. My neighbor had a bemused smile when he spotted them all, "They're not mine", I assurred him, "just temporary"! Luckily, I have nice neighbors and I think he knew I was telling the truth. It was dark when I came in the house.

Ah well...I'd probably be boring if I never had stuff to do!

your heart is as big as the universe........... :D
Oh, what a disaster - I hope they get the roof fixed soon. Did you have a storm?
What all do you have at your house, Marianne??? Cats, bunnies?

They are lucky animals. And you are lucky you have grass!!! They would all be perched in snowbanks around here! :(
What a wonderful spirit you have............and such a warm open Heart :hearts: :hearts: :hearts: !!!!!!!

:ghug: :ghug:

Thanks for all you do!!!!!!!!!
We have/had Sister Teresa in the human world and we also have Marianne in the animal world.
Marianne, we have small leak in our roof. Can I come stay with you, too?

You are just unbelievable !

Yes, Dawn and I have similar roof problems, but we'd be perferctly happy staying in your yard staring at the green grass...

I would like to send you my cat, though. He has this terrible habit of sitting on my printer and making it print. I don't know, maybe he is printing kitty porn when I'm not around? 8O

Seriously, this has got to come close to sainthood. Any chance of recruiting friends to help out with some of them?

Kristine
:D Marianne, your generous spirit never ceases to amaze me. :P You're a true saint. :D

Either that, or you're completely insane. It's a toss up.

Ok, seriously, Marianne. You need to stop being such an awesome, open-hearted, generous angel, because you are really starting to make ME feel bad.

Hehehe...just kidding.

But you really ARE an angel!! And yes, please do tell us what's at your house now - are they going to be trying to adopt them out still, or is that all put on hold during this situation???

Bless your heart - we could all afford to be a little more like you :)
:D Did you take any pictures? :ghug: ( as if there's be time!)
Move over St. Francis of Assisi! There is a new saint in town 8) :D
Pffff you guys are gonna make me big headed! Besides I keep saying I must have been evil in my former lifetime and now making amends in this one.

Haven't taken pics of them all as more are arriving within the next day or so. Degus and Chinchillas...never had those before but it's only for a couple days. The bunnies arrived the other day.

These pics don't show much except my own two buns checking out the new excercise pen. One neighbor knocked on my door a few weeks ago and asked if I wanted it! It's lightweight and can be moved around the yard to give bunnies access to fresh grass and dandelion leaves. Ha! Who needs a lawnmower!!! Besides all that rabbit poop is going to do wonders for the grass...providing the boys don't discover them. Urg!

Mom! Hey check this new thing in the yard!
(notice Panda boy in the background is leaning over to give Puff a kiss)
