Help in Seattle

I have never dealt with this before - but does anyone know who can help with the rescue of a lab in Seattle? He is four months - from what I hear a very sweet little guy who is very good with little kids and other dogs. He injured his back leg over the weekend and needs surgery. ( maybe torn cruitiate ligament? - I don't know but can find out) The owners are on a very tight budget and are unable to afford the surgery and need to find an owner for the pup that can make life as it should be. From what I know, there isn't a breeder involved to possibly help. I have a picture of the little guy and he is a dollie - chocolate with the prettiest blue/green eyes.

Can we do a fundraiser with the family or rescue to help? Can you post the pic? I would love to see him.

There are also things like care credit, IMOM and there is a specific group that just helps labs. Of course I cannot remember the name but I am sure it can be googled or I can check with my lab friends :D
As Cindy mentioned Care Credit offers funding for
veterinary care. It's a great option to consider if the
owners can qualify-

labmed.org is the one I could not remember :) !!
I want to thank everyone for helping with the contacts. I have forwarded to my friend in Seattle. Hopefully we will be able to get this figured out. The little guy is a doll - the picture below was taken a month ago. He is a little ganglier now - but from what I hear just as cute.

Zach,

You work.....I am a bum and I am home all the time. Someone needs to "nurse" this fella after his surgery  . I will Take him to the university for his surgery and you can just give them your credit card number! :excited:

and is well again soon.
Ha anyone heard anything about this guy?
Yes - I have kept in touch. The pup seems to be ok. The vet is a Lab person and has gotten involved. A majority of the work has been done at a reduced rate. Surgery is still in his future - but not right now. The vet has been wrapping the leg. ...According to the vet, this is helped a little. I still question if this is the best route for the little guy - but my friend and her family seem to really love him. I think this is half of the battle. There are so many dogs that don't have a family that loves them - this little guy is lucky that way. I am going to Seattle in April and plan meet up with them and see how things are going. Thank you for thinking of him.
I wanted to let you know that I checked on the lab pup while I was in Seattle- his name is Bruiser. He is very sweet - the vet said she doesn't think surgery will help anymore. She suggested swimming to help build the muscle; however she thinks the pup will eventulally lose the use of his leg. Although his owners do not have very much money, they seem to be commited to the pup. I plan to keep in touch with the family - I hope this works out for everyone involved.
Thanks for the update. :) I have a soft spot for the labs - especially the chocolate ones.
This is my Macy girl. She will be 15 years old on July 14th . She is a retired therapy dog, obedience dog, as well as superb hunter in her day!

Just to share a bit of info here...

I would not have believed it if I hadn't seen the her with my own eyes but I met a dog at my vet's office last year that walks on just her front two feet. It's not uncommon for small breed dogs to do this but this was a black Labrador.

She belongs to an equine vet... one leg had to be amputated shortly after birth and she lost the use of her other hind leg. It was amazing how well this dog maneuvered and balanced herself with her tail. She was such a happy girl too... I think they said she was 7??

Please tell them to not give up hope even if he looses the use of one leg.
Best wishes to them and thanks for the update.
