How long until sheepdogs are full grown

I still want Chopin to get bigger--at least to 90 lbs (his mom was 70 and his dad was 80) he is about 1 year and a few months now. Is his growing done or may he get a bit bigger as he goes into his second year?

he will still grow, but with smaller parents that size why do you think he will be bigger?
They usually finish up around 18 months.
I'll tell you that in my experience, my dogs have attained the height and length of full-grown at about a year, and in their second year, they "fill out".

It doesn't make sense that he'll be that much bigger if any than his parents, though.

As one with three 90 pounders, I will also say that 70 pounds is certainly not a bad thing! I'd welcome a 70 or 80 pounder! (In fact, my female really SHOULD be a 75-80 pounder, but she's a bit on the hefty side....we're working on that!)
I just think he's cutter the bigger he gets, when the vet saw him as a baby they predicted about 100 lbs on sight--due to his big feet-- but...who knows, I'm hopeful for 10 more pounds just so he can rival me in weight I suppose, lol

I often think that if Clyde weighed 30 pounds less, I'd shave a couple hours of grooming time off every week because there wouldn't be so much fat body to brush. :)

It sounds like your vet isn't well versed in the breed. OES do have much bigger feet than a similar dog of their size. (ex: a lab with feet that big really would grow to be a 100 pound dog).

We actually were comparing feet size last weekend while driving home from our sledding day. I have about 8 pictures in my camera right now comparing the big size difference of feet in a Samoyed vs OES.

Barney was mostly done height-wise at that point, but definitely filled out a lot the second year. (and the third and the fourth, lol). Hpw big is he now? Is he close to 80? I agree with the others--if his parents aren't huge, then he most likely won't be huge (although you never know).
I would not expect your pup to be much larger than his parents. It's much more important that his weight is in keeping with his frame than that he is a certain weight. With a good diet and exercise, he will reach is potential in size.

There can be a big difference in size within a litter. Sophie is much smaller (65 lbs) than her litter mate, Sherman (88 lbs) in all aspects: finer bones, shorter stature. Even though she's more than 20 lbs lighter than Sherman (who is just about right for his frame), she's borderline tubby. Parents were about 75 lbs (mom) and 85 (dad). Sophie was the runt of the litter. While I love her dearly, I will throw in that she's not a good representative of her breed in terms of conformation or coat. But she's very smart. The pups are almost at their 2nd birthday. Sherman is still a lanky teenager in build. Sophie screams 'girl' when you see her body shape, something I had never really thought of before I got her. One of the reasons we chose Sophie is because she was the smallest of her litter. To be honest, I wouldn't mind at all if Sherman hadn't gotten to be quite such a horse.

Archie is very skinny--85 lbs--he's just not really into food all that much and is fairly active. He's about the size of his parents. Merlin came from a large sire, and he was very nicely built--but big. 100 lbs was his good weight--and he loved food, so it was a struggle to keep him in good weight.

When dogs pile on, to tell the truth, I'm grateful that Sophie is on the smaller side. Much easier on my poor old bones.

Be careful what you wish for.

Nelson weighs about 95 lbs. but looks much larger than that because he's in full coat. Under all his hair, he's actually nice and lean. I wouldn't expect Chopin to be a big boy, judging from his parents. Do him a favor and let him be what he'll be, especially don't overfeed/underexercise him to make him larger.
no not at all, I love him no matter and he's not concerned enough with food to overeat anyhow. His build--now that he's shaved and I can see it-- is great so I wouldn't try to make him anything else but if he still has a few months to grow on his own....I'm just saying I wouldn't mind--although from what I keep hearing I got the perfect size as is, lol.
Around 18 months to 2 years they keep growing in the bones. As well as filling out in the body, when you think about it, maturity is not reached until around 3 years of age. Most of the rapid growth stage and shooting up in leg etc happens till 18months/2years.

Rest of the time till full maturity is filling out in muscle and body condition. :D

Remember this is a late maturing breed

I've seen small tykes bloom into big kids and they were later bloomers. There all different in their growth and gaining full size. I've also seen some big pups and when mature they were smaller just did most of their growing earlier on.

It's a toss up until full maturity is reached.
Obe reached 25-26 inches at the withers and is 80-85lbs right now. Guessing on the weight have not weighed in a while. I dont think he will get any taller as he has been this way for a while (few months). He is gaining some weight which is him just filling out. He is just over a year and a half 19 months. The groomer says he has gotten a lot bigger since she saw him last. I do agree but his hair has gotten longer so it makes him look even bigger. He definitely is filling out. His mom was 75 lbs and dad was 85 lbs. He was the runt of the litter but that obviously didn't mean a thing.
When Winston was a pup, he didn't grow into his feet - but I found he grew into his nose!!!
I am not an expert like a lot of the people here - but about 18 - 24 months of age was about right.
