Indoor Dog Parks

I want to establish an indoor dog park in Jacksonville Florida. We have nine months of brutal heat. I can see this as an untapped business for dog lovers like me. I tried of walking my dog at PetsMart. Anyone know how profitable they are or feasible to start up.

I just want to make a decent living doing something I love, Dogs. I see dogs here just overheating on the hot streets and sidewalks in summer. Even the outdoor dog parks are hot. The free ones don't even have trees or ponds.

This has become an obsession and I'm very passionate about my vision of this facility.

Thanks, anyone for some advise.

I have no idea about profitablity but first you should check out things like liability insurance, etc. If you know someone with a daycare they may be helpful as well. Good luck!
It can work,it depends on what kind of services you can offer to make it viable like dog obedience, daycare, boarding, grooming ect..
I think you'd have to pair it up with day care and boarding to make it profitable. Air conditioning for a facility like that alone will cost a ton. Our day care has an indoor dog park a few times a week in the winter months and I think she charges like $4 per dog.
You read my mind !! I'm in Ft. Lauderdale and have been thinking the exact same thing..Have you read about the one they just opened in Dallas? It's got everything & is the size of a football field. I have a 4 yr old Puggle who needs some extra exercising and can't stand to be in this heat. I wish there were more dog friendly places here. Good Luck.

They opened here in March. They are farely well diversified - grooming, boarding, daycare, cafe, boarding and gift shop. I'm surprised they don't offer classes.

We spent much of January with highs in the 80s and are currently on a run of temps in the 100s, so AC is a huge issue here.
They offer uncaged boarding, after a temperment test.
They are convenient to most of the Dallas Metroplex by highway, but not in a "good" part of town, which keeps costs down a bit.
I love the idea. I am in Jacksonville too and the wife and I were just talking about this last weekend while we had Beaker at Davis Park. Keep us informed. :clappurple:

That cement floor just kills me! They expect dogs not to injure themselves running, tackling and racing around on a shiny, polished cement floor?? 8O
I would never, ever send my dogs there!
