What to put in crate

Hi, I was just wondering what to put in the bottom of the crate for an 8 week old OES puppy? Do I put newspaper down, towels, or a pad? Is it fine to put a toy in there for the puppy to snuggle with?

Thanks!

they say not to put anything in there. But I can't do it. So I pick a toy carefully; something they can't tear into and eat the stuffing, or the squeeky. Something they can't choke on. Something that unattended play won't result in a disaster with.

I put a blanket in, in the begining. But my guys would just push it into a corner; I think it was too warm. Also, some puppies will eat blankets....
