What Happened To Your Face!

Those are the words my mom said to me after not seeing for for aprox month.

Funny, 5 of my co-workers said the same thing within the last week.

Today, I attended a conference (several hundred people) and saw many former co-workers there. They all commented on it too.

So what happened to my face? Well it wasn't gaunt, pale or anything like that. It was glowing and healthy! Lots of comments that I looked 10 years younger!

My secret? No extreme makeover! Just thought I'd put my money where my mouth is..LOL. I've been advocating a healthy diet for my pets as long as I can remember but don't follow the rules myself. Not that I didn't think I ate fairly healthy..brought fruit and yogurt for lunches, ect..

Nope just a choice to bring banana, apple, orange, mango, papaya, nuts and add those to a salad or chop them up and just have a fruit salad.Sometimes I switched the type of nuts or would also add blueberries or blackberries. I also only ate fish - salmon or tuna sandwiches and for dinner, shrimp and the fake lobster or crab with veggies. That's it! I also started drinking the combo drink of blueberry and cranberry 100% juice.

Didn't get pneumonia either this year!!! (Usually get it twice yearly even with the shots) and no colds or flu!!!! Unbelievably the health department investigated our school 2 wks ago as over 50 staff and students were ill with respitory problems. Not me!!!!!!! This is amazing as some of you know I had lung surgery in the past and am really prone to stuff like that.

I didn't really go out to start eating like this daily just read that papaya and sweet potatoes have 7 times the recommended dose of vit C. I was tired of having night blindness and thought maybe adding vit A and C to my diet would help.

Within a month my skin took on such a noticable difference that everyone has asked if I had botox, laser or some rejuvenation procedure done.

Oprah has had Dr Oz on and just recently he talked about this very subject when I was already 2 weeks into my new eating habits. I'm sold!

OMG!!! It works!

Wow! I thought you looked great before!!!
Good health is so important-- I am so proud of you for taking yours seriously. :)
Thanks for your kind words Lori.

In 99, I collapsed one evening and awoke to find myself in the hospital. I had two surgeries. The most invasive was the second one where two surgeons operated on me for four hours. Luckily it wasn't lung cancer as they first suspected, but the damage to my lungs was permanent due to silicone.
Apon awakening, I found I was hooked up to four machines and lay flat on my back vegging out on morphine for 6 days. Took a while to feel normal again but I lost 60% of my lung capacity which is why I'm so prone to the flu or other respitory illnesses.

The lung damage is permanent and the culprit was talcum powder! The years I had been performing on stage and using powder to set the make up was accumulating onto my lungs. My lungs resemble crushed glass from the silicone in the powder. *Silicone has since been banned from talcum powder but people shouldn't ever powder a baby as inhaling the stuff is dangerous.

Most people don't realize I have a problem and are shocked to find out I'm operating on 40 % lung capacity due to my busy lifestyle. However, I often "crash" in the winter due to having even less lung capacity if I get colds or a flu. When I get them they hit me hard as I don't get enough oxygen into my bloodstream. So to have a healthy glow in the winter is amazing!!! Seriously people in the winter I normally look gaunt and pale..phooey!

Guess loading up on fresh veggies and fruits really did help far better than vitamins. I haven't felt this good in years! :yay:

Bgirl- Just rushing off to take a CPR course this morning (learning how to use a defibulator) but I'll post some recipes in the food section over the weekend. Thanks for asking!
Marianne: I am so happy to hear your new way of eating is showing in more then one way. Good for you! I am on the same diet and haven't felt this great in years...of course besides the shingles, but all in all I have a lot of engery which is very important!!! Welcome to the healthy living club!
Oh Marianne that sounds great!

I have to try the same, my skin, especially on my legs is soo dry since the last 6 month that I scratch them all the time and I wonder what the problem is?!? Also my feet are itching when I go to bed?!?

I also should drink more water and leave the chocolate and biscuits in the box where they should belong!!!
Marianne- I had no idea that you had delt with such serious heath issues in the past. I am in more awe now than ever. You are so upbeat and active.

Just proves what I've always thought about you--you have a wonderful spirit and great mind! Using it to the fullest has helped with the "healthy body" part! :ghug:
Great job eating healthy Marianne! Keep up the good work. :D
Wow Marianne! I'm so glad you are doing so great! Keep up the good work!

Darcy! I have to feed a Texan so I know how you feel. What we do is, eat healthy during the week and if we do well we get a reward on the weekend, which usually means smoking something outside, bbq-ing or having something Hungarian. It works great! We eat healthy but we get rewarded so those rewards taste even better! :D

I lost 4.4 Lbs this week!!!!
Good for you girl!
lol....chemo doesnt help....lets see for lunch i had pasta noodles with butter and salt....dinner was a grilled fish sandwich with extra tartar sauce(to cut the fish taste...gasp...i know a sin for sure) and i tried to eat brussel sprouts but they tasted weird so i ended up with mashed potatoes with butter and salt....

butter and salt are my 2 new favorite condiments....lol....

i cant wait for this to be over........call me moo-moo.....

kata...good for you...im impressed with 4 lbs.....
Marianne, maybe you should tell them about the fish bowl incident?
Haaa Maxx you are evil!

Oww Owww (she twisted my arm!)

Another "what happened to your face" story:
(I'll try to keep it short as I tend to get wordy in my post).

The scenerio: New born baby in the house, me ironing, go to put ironing board away.

Storage closet is in dark hallway of apartment building. Light is burnt out. I push in the ironing board in the closet and knock off a very heavy fish bowl from the top shelf.

Me looking up...fishbowl comes down and knocks me unconscious.

Wake up (not sure how long I was out for) stumble down hallway and bang into walls so I know I probably have a concussion (sp?)

I see my face in the mirror - blood is pouring down my face from a wound in head.

Want to call for help but can't focus on the numbers as I see triple. Motivated I have 2 wk old baby in the house.

Paramedics and fireman arrive - me laying on the couch - all I can think of in that moment, "sigh good looking men all looking down at me and I look ghastly". They try not to smile when I wail a goldfish bowl hit me in the head. No evidence of goldfish bowl anywhere and they must think I'm hullicinating.

Ambulance takes me to the hospital. Doctor declares lots of people getting hit in the head with mighty gold fish bowls that week.

Me- Big bandaid across top of my forehead, two black eyes and of course everyone had to ask, "what happened to your face!".

How's your "fluva" Maxx? (now her turn  )

Marianne
