Half a year after my GASTRIC BYPASS surgery

I skipped the picture for six months and it's not yet time for seven months. But, I was cleaning out some boxes last week and found these jeans. I thought it'd be fun to take a photo in them. This is the same pair of jeans in each picture.

I've always thought that'd be fun to do. And guess what? It is. :D

I'm still so envious of your boobs! Mine are gone

You look great! I still have my old jeans, I think I'll try them on!

Keep it up chickie!
Wow, Tammy! 8O You look SO good! I have NO idea where any more weight would come off from!
Thanks, y'all. :) I've still got 24 more lbs to go, Chris. But, it's going so slowly now, it may take me 4-5 months to lose it. I don't mind, though. :)
I'm sort of between a size eight and a size six right now. Honestly, I don't care to be much smaller than a six. :)

Deb, I have finally lost weight in my boobs, too. They're much smaller than they were, which is a good thing. I'm looking forward to getting them "fixed" next January. I've already started checking out plastic surgeons in the surrounding areas. Try on your old jeans, too. I'd love to see your "after" photo. :)
Tammy, I 'm so happy for you that all this is going well. And it's fascinating too, learning about all the little things that go into having that sort of procedure (ie, dumping!). And you look great and so happy. That's amazing that you fit into those pants less than a year ago.
Tammy you look GREAT!!!! Doesn't it make you feel good to see how far you've come in such a short period of time? I've lost so much weight that sometimes I am almost paralized with fear that I might put the weight back on. I have since heard other people saying they feel that way sometimes, so now I feel better about that. I never want to "go there" again. I am an X-Small on top and Small on the bottom (those pants are getting baggy now too). I tease Elissa that soon I'm going to be shopping in the "girls" stores like her. lol

Good luck reaching your goal!!!!
holy cow girl, you look fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

tammy, you ARE the biggest loser :D

im so proud of you.....
^^

I agree! I can't imagine the outfit you picked out for valentine's day
Congratulations gal!! You look mar...ve..lous! And now a boob job??
Thanks, y'all. :D Your constant encouragment helps me so much. :D

Yes, Susan. I'm planning on having a breast lift done next January. The doctors insist that you wait 18 months after your surgery, so that your weight has stablized, before you have any plastics done. I don't really look forward to another surgery, but I feel like this procedure is necessary. That's it, though, anything else that needs work will have to be done through excercise. It's just that I know no amount of excercise is going to fix the boobs.
Holy....What a fantastic feeling for you! I always see those ads in the backs of magazines where people hold their old pants out. I never believe them, but now I will. You look great!
You look fantastic.

You should be proud of yourself WELL DONE!!!!
You look amazing! You should be so proud of yourself! Millions of Americans are obese these days, and you actually did what most of them could never do. Congrats, and keep up the great work!
WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (that's all..............) just...........WOW!!!!!!

(((way to go......you look great!!!!!!)))
to quote Billy Crystal from SNL

Oh Tammy--- you look wonderful!!!!! Congratulations!!!!!
That is so cool - I am proud to say I actually know someone who can do that with their jeans!!! :D
WOWZA!!!!!!!!!!

Amazing, totally AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :yay:
You look AMAZING :!: :!: :!:
If those pictures don't inspire others I don't know what would.
WOW is right!
I wanted to get back on track with my monthly progress reports. It makes me feel great that others have been inspired to investigate weight loss options for themselves (surgical and non-surgical) based on my experiences shared here. So, I hope you don't mind that I continue to chronicle my journey here. :D

Today has been seven months since my surgery and I've lost 95 lbs (10 pounds this month). I still have 18 more to go to reach my goal. Honestly, I never thought it'd go this quickly. They tell you to expect 40-50% of your excess weight to go within the first six months and not to reach your goal for 12-18 months. So, I'm shocked to be so far ahead of the curve. Shocked - but thrilled to pieces. :D

I'm not sure when my next check up is going to be. The doctor's office was supposed to call me to schedule it after the new year, but I haven't heard from them yet. I guess I need to call them.

I'm having trouble remembering to take my vitamins.

I'm looking forward to warm weather. For the first time in years, I can go horseback riding. :D

Yeah, I'm encountering something I never in a million years thought would happen to me. Friends and family telling me they think I've lost enough weight now and they're afraid I'm going to get too thin. 8O

Great Job!!!!! I should show dh your before and after pictures...maybe get him thinking. I'm also envious of those boobs. Maybe I should see a plastic surgeon.....
wOw! You are doing great!!!!

People always say that but i think it just takes time for them to get used to seeing you looking different.

Diet until you are happy but make sure you still within your healthy BMI range.
I think you're right, Vicki. I actually pulled up my shirt & showed my dad my stomach last night so he could see there is still plenty of fat left there for me to lose.
WOW.......That is absolutely amazing. Congratulations to you! (and the parts of you that are no longer there!!)

I'm a little late with my 8 month update, but the time just sneaks right up on me lately. As you can see from the photo, I look exactly the same as I did last month. I've not lost another ounce. But, that's okay. I'm fine with that for now. I was due for a true plateau and not just a temporary 2-3 week stall. I've reached a comfortable weight now and at this point, I'm not sure if I'll continue to lose or not unless I put some real effort into it.

I got really slack about working out, so I decide I'm going to have to join the gym and work with a personal trainer. I need prodding to get me motivated. I've got an appointment next Monday to tour The Spa and talk with a trainer about my goals, etc. We'll see what happens.

I had to go shopping this week for spring/summer clothes since I had exactly NOTHING to wear. You know, we women say that all the time, but for once in my life it was true in the most literal sense.

Well, at first, I was thinking "WOOHOO!! A shopping spree!!" :go: But, then, when I got started, reality sank in and it was a lot more daunting than I realized. :? How on earth do you go about building a wardrobe from scratch without wasting money? :lmt: I was really wishing I had Stacy & Clinton's phone numbers. You can't say "Oh I like this and I've got such & such at home to match it - because you don't. " Every piece you pick up, you have to find something to go with it. You have to think about basic colors and styles that are classic. You have to think what do you need for work, church, casual wear, evening wear, even just what to wear around the house. Before long, my fun shopping spree had turned into a chore.

Don't get me wrong, it's still fun buying new clothes. 8) It just isn't the carefree, happy-go-lucky experience I had envisioned. 8)

There were a few surreal moments, too. Like when I was in Christopher & Banks and the sales lady said "Try this skirt. You're tiny, it'll look good on you." I had a good chuckle over that one. I'm pretty sure it's the first time in my life anyone has ever referred to me as "tiny".

Did you know that when you lose weight your feet shrink? Yeah...me neither. :lmt: I tried on some of the sandals in my closet that I wore last summer and they're too big. I wasn't expecting that one. So, I've added "shoes" to my list of things to buy.

Look out folks, I'm on a shopping spree!!! :sidestep:
Tam, it CAN be exciting...start with the basics...

i found this website...maybe it will help!

http://www.realsimple.com/realsimple/pa ... -1,00.html
Tammy, you are so adorable. I'm giggling reading your post, because I understand!

I've been at goal for almost 6 months, and I'm starting to feel like I'm getting "sloppy" with my eating. I have to pull myself back to being focused.

Shopping is not the nirvana that we think its going to be. Clothing is very expensive. I have gone from size 18 ( a very tight 18 ) to size 10, so I really couldn't salvage any of my old stuff. Sometimes it's difficult (at least for me) to have the money to buy all the stuff I need. And yep...my feet went from an 8.5 to a 7! That shocked me too!

You are looking wonderful! Maybe your body just needs sometime to "rest". Its been through a lot, and as I said, YOU LOOK WONDERFUL!

A trainer is a wonderful thing. I love my trainer, but have cut back from 3 times a week to 1 time a week, with more working out on my own. Again, it's the money thing

I still want to see a picture of you in the hot new car!!!
That was very informational, Darcy. Thanks! I'm going to take some notes and put them in my purse. I started making a list of things I need so I don't buy frivilously and end up with nothing that works long term. Ya know?

Thanks, Deb. :) You're right! Clothing is expensive. I've always felt like it was an investment and I don't mind spending money for things that will last. But, with that in mind, I try to shop for things that are more "Classic" and not so "trendy". I will splurge on a few trendy things, but I prefer to buy things that won't be out of style next season. It's an opportunity for me to "do it right" and I don't want to blow it.
Tammy, check Ebay. I've bought some of my best clothes from Ebay. I always look for Talbots or Coldwater Creek. You can search by brand or style or size or whatever. Most sellers list measurements because sizes vary by maker. I've bought dresses and skirts and blouses and sweaters and even shoes from Ebay. It's a way to beef up your wardrobe without spending a TON of money.
^^

I buy from ebay too ...name brands. not disappointed either esp when they're nwt

You look fabulous!!!
What a great idea! You guys are brilliant! Hey! I got my Uggs from Ebay, but never thought about buying clothes!
Neither have I, Deb. That's a great idea, Paula. Thanks for the suggestion. :D
I hate to be a spoiler about the ebay thing BUT if it says NWT (new with tags) and you see the same seller with a lot of stuff from one store or multiples of the same item please don't buy from them - particularly name brands. They are SHOPLIFTERS! I have never looked for clothes but of course I would never have given it a thought - I would have just assumed close out/overstock etc. But ebay is a perfect place for selling these kind of items. The only reason I know this is because a couple of months ago they caught a trio of professionals in the act. They were out of state and were making sweeps of several states, multiple malls in each state and walking out with thousands of dollars of merchandise per store in less than three minutes. One would create a distraction while another would just sweep a whole pile of stuff into a bag and be out the store. Just a heads up for future reference.

By the way Tammy you look fantastic!
Judi, that may be true in some cases, but certainly not everyone who sells NWT clothes is a shoplifter. Example: there is a Talbot's outlet by my work, and a dedicated seller could buy clothes there dirt cheap and resell on Ebay.
Paula - you are right. I did not mean that all of them are shoplifters. But I usually am fairly naive about things so it never occurred to me that could be the case. I, myself would not want to support that so I just wanted people to be aware it does exist.

I am probably the last person to realize it so I shouldn't have bothered mentioning it. Sorry.
It would never have occurred to me either, Judi. I naively assume that everyone is as honest as I am.

I've had a dickens of a time finding white sandals with heels. There are also no pastels out this season. Lots of metalics - gold, bronze, silvers - in various shades- which I need, but I need to replace my white sandals and I wanted a pair of pale pink too. Still looking....

If you see anything cute while shoe shopping, drop me a note.
Tammy,

Check this out! Its my new favorite shoe site:

http://www.shoebuy.com/sb/s.jsp?&Req=pr ... ept=AdultF
Tammy, online try Maryland Square or The Tog Shop for shoes. Also Nordstroms.
Thanks, ladies! I'll check those out today. :D
OMGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGOD!!!!!!!!!!! I cannot believe how FABULOUS you look, just saw your last picture and the one with your old jeans.

WOWOWOWOWOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am so impressed (and inspired).
Check out these sandals. http://www.antoniomelani.com/sandals.shtml

I like the fourth pair from the left in white, but they didn't have them in the store. Also, click on the far right arrow twice and then look at the fourth pair from the left again. The white pair with the cork wedge heel. I bought those last night. I really like them. 8)

One pair down...

I'm finding myself drawn toward the metalics. I've been tempted to buy about 8 pairs so far - they're super cute. I want to get the colors I NEED first, though, before splurging on the ones I just WANT.

Awww...thanks, Ginny! :P

Does anybody know where to buy BORN shoes at discount prices? They've got 5-6 pair that I'd really like to have, too. :D
DSW usually has a pretty decent selection of Born shoes. But they don't have online shopping.

I know--I have the problem of buying the cute shoes with odd colors and then find I don't have a pair of basic black flats or something like that (this year, I need to wear flats for pregnancy, so I've bought silver loafers, yellow patent leather and pink--so practical! )
Well, I'm late for my nine month check in, too. I did take the picture on the 18th, I just didn't get it uploaded on time. Anyway, as you can see, I'm the same size. Hopefully, now, though, you will soon see the flabbiness going away. I am working out at the gym three days a week with a trainer.

I have to tell you, the day after my first workout, every muscle in my body hated me. I was so sore!! But, after a month now, I'm doing pretty good. Of course, no obvious results yet. The good news is, I actually LIKE going and look forward to it instead of dreading it. So, that's an accomplishment right there! :P

I shopped until I dropped for several weeks. The only thing I still really need (there are LOTS of things I still want  ) is a swimsuit. I think I'm going to wait and go to a speciality store where that's all they sell and they do fittings to make sure you get a suit that flatters you. I just need to wait until I have a free Saturday. I have a feeling it may take a few hours.

I don't have another health check in until the one year mark in July. But, I feel great. 8) For the tally, I've lost a total of 95 lbs. I still need to lose 18 to reach my goal. I'm hoping the work outs make that happen since it doesn't look like I'm going to lose any more with out it. Also, at my last check up they told me to be careful starting in the 12-16 month range because that's when people get slack and start regaining weight. 8O I'm determined to be diligent. I didn't do all this to get fat again.

Keep your old jeans and when you feel like eating something naughty try on your old jeans and remember - " little Pickers wear big Knickers" or jeans in this case.
That's so cool, Tammy. I think you look smaller in this last picture...but maybe it's just the shorts. Either way, you look awesome and happy!
hottie-tottie!!!!!
