Revenge of the innocents

Toby, our 1/1/2 year old rescue from the pound, has entered into the inquisitive/destructive stage later in life than the puppy stage. At first a model of good behavior when we left him in the house with our 3 year old male Charlie, lately he has begun to make raids on anything left on counters or tables in even a short absence. In the past few days we have come home to:

an empty 2 lbs box of chocolates
3 empty wrappers from loaves of bread (he prefers $3 french bread)
a ripped up $70 sleeve from my new laptop (he removed the laptop first, thankfully)
two shredded boxes of Kleenex
50 shredded paper napkins off the table
one munched candle
an empty box of russian cookies
a destroyed plastic water filter/container

I am pretty sure that Charlie is joining in on the feast but it is Toby who is the instigator. He is the picture of innocence when we are home but he is really taking his revenge for being left behind. That's Toby in my current avatar, plotting his next raid I am sure.

an empty 2 lbs box of chocolates = active dogs need energy

3 empty wrappers from loaves of bread (he prefers $3 french bread) = he has taste...

a ripped up $70 sleeve from my new laptop (he removed the laptop first, thankfully) = he's considerate

two shredded boxes of Kleenex = needed to cleanup any unavoidable gastric consequences that result from the 2 lbs of chocolate

50 shredded paper napkins off the table = more clean up

one munched candle = he's heard about all the inclement weather at the moment and wants to be prepared

an empty box of russian cookies = he's interested in foreign travel and fine cuisine - cultured

a destroyed plastic water filter/container = obvious, need that to wash down the chocolate and cookies

Clearly a very well adjusted and fine young man whom I hope to meet some day.

Hugs,
Sybil
he may have help from CHarlie. Years ago I forgot something inthe house and went (almost immediatley back in after leaving for work. Our American Eskimo was in th eprocess of pulling out hte garbage can (from behind a closed cabinet door thank you. My OES was standing there waiting I am sure to share the spoils with her - she couldn't reach into the can but it was perfect snacking height for him.
He sounds remarkably like our Maggie. She also was about 1.5 yrs old when she came to us.
Nothing like a delayed childhood coming out of an adult body!!! 8O
