Bad Weather Up North

You guys in the south have tornados...here we have a blizzard. Wet heavy snow, snow, snow. Now I guess its official. I'm old. When I was young... yesterday... I always waited until it was done snowing and then clean it up. I just got done cleaning up some snow. Did the driveway..except for Randys side at the end...Its like shoveling ice. The dogs keep going out and getting covered in snowballs. We were supposed to start training classes tonight, they actually called (WOW) and canceled. Hope everyone stays safe!![/i]

Such crazy weather all around the states this winter. For some reason, our section of PA has been spared. We only had a few small snow storms before Christmas (even had one before Thanksgiving, which was REALLY early for us), but nothing to speak of in January or February. In fact, they're predicting possible thunderstorms here for tonight!! And our temps this week have been hovering around 50 degrees - in FEBRUARY!!

I pray that everyone stays safe, no matter where you live.
Yes, you all are getting it!
It is all forming just south and east of me - not a drop or flake here since Sunday night.

Too bad your classes got cancelled. :(
I've experienced hurricanes in Fl and "White Outs" in Alaska. Tornados (tornadoes) scare me the most because most of the time they come in the middle of the night and no one can prepare. White Outs come a close second.
Superbowl sunday we had lightening and thunder during a snow storm. I have never seen that before. Since then it rained steadily until this morning (my babies hate getting their feet wet) now we have the huge wet snow flakes. But they love the snow!
I'm ready to move to run away from this crap!

Where are you going and can I hitch a ride? (hey, just me and nine teeny OES and the cat the three foster are all trying to chase because they're bored and can barely stay out and have nothing better to do! 8O  ) I won't drive in this stuff. Shoot, I can barely stay upright walking in it.

Wow! Thundersnow is rather rare. With out getting all weatherly on you, you've got a big fast moving air column rising within the storm, cool.

Thundersnow is more common however around the Great Lakes and some ski areas. Realize it is dangerous because the snow acts like an acoustic suppressor of the thunder, so the lightning is really quite close opposed to a summer type storm where the storm can be miles away. As a result the ski areas are constantly on guard and will stop ski lifts.....well, keep people from getting on them least they be handing up off a wire with lighting all around. ZAP!
I just had an urge to beat up a weather man. He said the good news is that it will warm up 15 below. I believe he was talking about the low at night, but still not what I want to hear. I am thinking about joining Alaskans for global warming. Last night Annie went out and peed, then came in to warm up, when went back out to poop. When I complained, she just gave me that "I am old live with it" look.

One year when I was still living in upstate NY and we had record snow (even for that area - so, what, something like 70 feet?  ), as did all of New England, some poor weather guy in Mass. actually got a death threat. And I think the person meant it!

In Tok, Alaska yesterday ...it was NEGATIVE 75!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 8O

It was the first town mr. j arrived in when he drove to alaska. can't imagine what it feels like to walk outside in that weather!
anythng below -20 all feels the same to me. I had to take my infanct for baby shots in -50. I now live where it is much warmer...too warm.
:excited: We have had over a foot of snow, and that was on top of a foot a snow. I really feel weary and defeated.

This weather is making me crazy! And poor Lizzie is learning to potty train, however, its almost impossible to train her, with all this snow. Nothing good to smell.

And all of us are getting cabin fever.

100 days to Key West
:plead:
The only experience with cold lately that i've had (it was 80 here yesterday!) is I watched the movie 8 Below last night...and it was Soooo good.
Yeah....I don't supposed you want to hear that it's sunny & 60 here today, huh?
:x
Keep mentioning Florida weather and you'll get even more people moving down there.

Friend north of me in mountain is sick of snow too. Unless you ski or have some outdoor activity snow dependent, this about now you are ready do anything. Strangest I've heard was the ranger's wife in Winter Park who shoveled snow into her basement so the darn stuff would melt away.

Hmmmm....I just feel the need to comment, that Tok sucks at ANY temperature.  seriously.

Not having been out of my house for any reason other than doctors visits for a month, I'm kinda indifferent to our cold and crappy weather, but my pups are definitely not happy!
Hey, Joan and I have slept in Tok and we ate at Fast Eddie's. I'm not sure if we got the TShirt.

From what I hear, just driving through is enough to get the t-shirt for that place ;)

ravenmoonart, are you feeling any better? :(
I heard on the news this morning that all the snow Michigan has gotten this season is the most they've had in 9 years.

I am so glad I am not there... 8)

Laurel: how are you feeling??
