They're calling my name

I’m hiding the chocolate from myself.

For weeks now, I’ve been craving Ghirardelli chocolate squares – dark chocolate with raspberry filling. I have a long standing love affair with them. But, as you know, I can’t really eat them now. Or at least I’m not supposed to. That much sugar sends me into shock.

So, I’ve not bought any.

Until today.

Today, their siren’s call was just too much. So, I have a box of them on my desk. Each square has 8 grams of sugar (five is my limit). I’m flirting with disaster here. I’ve had two of them already. I moved the box to my drawer so I can’t see them.

But, I can still hear them.

I think my tastes for sweet has returned.

Can you cut them in half and eat only a half :? (yea right)
If you break them, the filling leaks out. You have to eat the whole thing.
Hmmmmmmmm

better send em to me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That's a capital idea!! :D
Throw them out. Yes, that is what you must do. Not only throw them out, take them out of the boxes and out of the wrappers. And put gross stinky garbage on top of the candy.

Because you will eat them if you don't. And if they are still wrapped, you will fish them out of the garbage can.

I speak from experience. Also, never buy food you cannot control!
Too bad you couldn't buy just ONE instead of an entire box.

Is there someone trustworthy you can give the box to, make them SWEAR they will only give you one a week or something,

Or, send it to me
I agree with Paula. I have thrown out many a good brownies, cake, and cookies due to lack of control. Either give them away, right now, or throw them away.
That's what I wanted, Ginny. Just one. Seriously. That would've been a gracious plenty and satisfied my craving.

I think I'll just give them to my co-worker to take home.

Unless you really want them. :D UPS hasn't picked up here yet. :P
Give them to your co worker, if you tired to send them to me they'd never make it to the UPS truck!!

RIGHT THIS MINUTE, get rid of them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pull out a picture of you in your sexy New Year's Eve dress and say NO WAY AM I GOING TO BLOW THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HA!! I knew I could count on y'all to keep me on the straight & narrow!!

They're gone!! I gave them away!!

Thank you ever so much. :D
Enjoy them today :D

 Tomorrow Lent begins
If you nibble around the edges, you can see how they were made.

After 10 or 12 of them, you have a really good idea of the process.

After a few more you can see what the batter looked like, too.

Without the Ghirardelli chocolate squares you are a Sexy Wigglebum Momma....

With the Ghirardelli chocolate squares you might get a wiggley bum...

I am speaking from experience....throw them out.. resist.. resist...
Why are you not supposed to eat them, Tammy? Is it something about chocolate or sugar in general? Or is it a portion control thing?
Yum! I love those Ghiradelli squares. The mint filled ones are my favorite. They sell them as singles at one of our grocery stores here so I usually grab one at checkout along with my salad!

I would have suggested stowing them in the back of the freezer. But giving them away works too!

Good for you and your willpower! (Or your taking the proper steps to eliminate temptation!)
:clappurple: Oh Tammy, I'm so proud you threw them out! I can't keep anything in the house that will tempt me. I'm too weak.

Its usually good bread, or nuts that get me. I have no concept of portion control with those.

I'm really proud of you!

So glad I'm not the only one

Exactly......One of the WW sayings that I repeat (not often enough  ) is " Better in the waste than on the waist"...Which makes perfect sense.

We don't want to waste the junk food, so we want to take the fat and plaster it to our hips? Throw the stuff out.....
Mmmmmm I should not have looked at this post, I have some of the toffee interlude squares around here somewhere. I tend to buy this stuff and completely forget about it. Plus I can only eat one maybe two squares because it is sooooo rich......now where DID I put it?????? :?:

I'm so proud of you! Just reading this is making me hungry. No way could I throw good candy/chocolate away!

It's portion control. If I eat more than 5 grams of sugar, I am in danger of what is called "dumping". A sugar or fat overload causes symptoms that make you feel like you're dying. Your heart palpitates, your stomach cramps, you get the cold sweats, dry heaves, etc, etc, etc. - it's ugly and really NOT FUN.

So, it's a HUGE incentive to stay within the amounts you're allowed to have.

Actually, until now, it's not been a problem. Because even though I might remember liking something sweet, when I actually tasted it, it was unappealing. :? So, I'd really gotten to where I just didn't care much for sweets any more. But, those squares were the exception to the rule. Had to get rid of them.
Tammy, that's so interesting. Will it be that way forever (dumping)? Or will time make it better? And...are you actually dying? Is it dangerous or is it just annoying and scary to have happen?
Yes, Steph, it will forever be that way. I'll always have to stay within the limits to keep from "dumping". It won't actually kill you, it just makes you think you're dying (and at some points, wish you were).

So, yeah, I guess it's just basically annoying and scary to have happen to you. It only happened to me once and I'm still not sure what set it off. The limits they give you are guidelines, of course, each person has to work out for themselves the exact amount they can tolerate. For me, I can have slightly more sugar grams (no more than 8 ) but less fat than the guidelines recommend.
