Fostering

Some of you know, Tony and I are fostering a little girl, Lizzie, for WI rescue. We love her madly.

Here are somethings I have encountered as a foster for such a sweetheart:

1. Took Pirate to the groomer. Told them we were fostering Lizzie. John, the groomer said to me, "Oh, that's too bad. Fosters never stay fosters very long!"
2. Went to Petsmart today to buy a new collar, new leash, name tag and toys for Lizzie the foster. We ran into another "foster" mom. We discussed our foster babies. She's a foster flunky. Ugh.
3. Told Tony to stop getting so attached to Lizzie, because rescue will probably find her a home. Tony calmly said. Ok honey...change our phone number and our email address. Lizzie already has a home!
4. I actually let foster Lizzie french kiss me...and I liked it....sigh.....

So...you can see, foster is very rewarding! Please consider it!

She sounds like a great dog!
Sounds like a plan to me........that's how we ended up with 7 dogs, so watch yourself
Hey...I got three of my four that way I have two sheepie girls comming in to foster sat but I did a home visit today and the family may take both!!! I need to keep for about a week and see if they will be a good fit...fostering is bittersweet

i want lizzie!!!!
Oh sure! Ya buy a dog a new collar and leash...and everyone wants her!!!
How sweet, Deborah! How's everyone getting along in your house? Steve is convinced that female sheepies are all snippy (what female isn't), sounds like Lizzie will convince him otherwise :D
Looks like Lizzie may already have found her furever home
It's okay to flunk fostering, I am not even going to say how many times I have!!!
Hugs to Lizzie
(and of course Pirate and Keira)
im finally glad to see that flunking is now a-okay......too bad it wasnt like that in my college accounting class. :?

yup, id say youre lost....french kissing is the last step.......
Deborah, I knew you flunked even before Lizzie came home. You could hear it in your e-mail that she was staying. Oh well, worse things have happened!
It's okay to fail Fostering 101, Deb. At least you're in good company.
Confession here:

See, I'm still not sure. We have so much going on (the bathroom is STILL outta commission) and there is a ton of chaos in our house. The weather has been terrible. We're still working on learning/and teaching Lizzie pottie signals.

Three dogs is allota dogs!

I think my ambivelence is due to all the other circumstances. Tony loves this little girl to pieces, as do I. We just haven't found our new routine. And I'm the type of person that must have routine. I thrive on it!

Lizzie is so incredibly sweet. I think I'm just stressed. And the damn Siamese cat loves to torture her. Lizzie has started nipping at him, but believe me, if I could get away with it, I'd nip at him too!

So...we move forward with training, potty, sit, down, don't bite the cat, etc!

Compared to so many rescues, she is a breeze! She really is just a big bundle of love. I took her to the Vet Saturday, and they all fell in love with her too.
Congratulations !!!!

Naw, 3 dogs is nothing. It's more than 4 that gets hard because you and Tony only have 2 hands...........and of course they all want to be petted at the same time.
