Newby here

Hello everyone, great to find you . My name is Debs, I am married and a stay at home mum. I am owned by two beautifu rescue german shepherds, Elsa and Shadow, whom I fostered and failed

I have just adopted Dolly a deaf ex puppy farm little girlie (OES) she is only 8 weeks old  she was handed over to a rescue for rehoming. I drove over 500 miles to adopt this special litte girl and love her so much.

I will be taking her to training classes as soon as she has her second injection. Any advise would be most helpful

I will be posting some pics very soon.

Regards

Debsx

Welcome Debs, from Minnesota !

Dolly sounds like a little sweetie - just 8 weeks old! Better take lots of pictures, she won't be so tiny for long. And we love, love, love pictures!!
:D :D :D
Hi Debs! Welcome to you & Dolly, Elsa & Shadow. :D

Thank you for taking this sweet little girl into your heart & home. We look forward to pictures and stories of her as she grows. We have several members here with deaf puppies, and I am sure they will be a good resource for you when you need help.

Where in the world is Hertfordshire?
I looked - it is a county in southern England - right outside London.
 Thank you for your replies, yes I am in the Uk, where its BLoomin freezing?

Debsx

I figured UK from the "mum" in her user name. Just wondering what part. 8) Thanks, Dawn. :D

It's not blooming freezing here anymore. I think we're on our way to Spring. Don't smack me, but we've got daffodil and irises shooting up already. :P
Hi Debs!

I'm from Budapest, Hungary but living in the states - Chicago right now until Tuesday!!!!! then Boston! :D.

I have a very-very-very good friend living in Hertfordshire. Oh, and I used to live in London...(sigh-dreaming).

Welcome to the forum! You'll love it here.
Welcome to you and your dogs from Gilbert, Arizona!
WELCOME!
Welcome, Debs!

Ahh! You have a GSDs! I grew up with them and adore the breed. You will find other GSD lovers here too.

And now you have a little OES addition?! :) If you ever want to talk "deaf dogs", please feel free to e-mail or PM me.
My youngest OES is deaf - but don't tell her that! And I've had the honor to foster a number of deaf OES and pups in rescue.

Have you visited the www.deafdogs.org web site?
Welcome to the forum! :)
Hi Deb, welcome..
Im in the UK.
Hi Deb and Dolly! Welcome from Norfolk UK! You're right - blooming freezing it is and sooo windy!

Keep an eye out on the General Chat section for the next sheepie day. We had our first last summer and had a great time! The more the merrier.

Hi Deb
We're in the UK too, in Lancashire.
We've also got a deaf OES, his name is Bear and he is 18 months old now.. we got him when he was a year old.
We don't have any problems with Bear being deaf, but he's very laid back and gentle and I'm assuming thats his nature not because he's deaf!
I do wonder how we would have coped if he was more hyper and needed correcting more often!
I would be very interested to hear about the training methods your trainer uses with your new pup, although I said Bear is laid back he's not perfect and we do make allowances for him all the time that we should maybe deal with..! Such as getting him to come to us.. ( we never let him off the leash outside unless he's completely fenced in obviously but even getting him to come to you indoors would be helpful, he always thinks its for something nasty I think and just looks at me like I'm stupid when I'm making all these crazy signals to him!)
Anyway good luck and we look forward to photos!
Carol

Welcome and Greetings from Marianne in Canada. Mom to two upright boys , and the furkids Ole Blue, Merlin and Panda. I also foster or failed fostering for various rescues so also have a menagerie of cats, bunnies and guinea pigs.

It's great to have you join us and this is a friendly place, so feel free to join in any of the conversations.

I also agree..deafdogs website is very helpful. I've heard training via flicking flashlight works well as other tips they offer.

Best wishes!
Marianne
