13 months old and peeing in the house again

Smore was 100% potty trained until about a month ago- now out of the blue, she's peeing in the house again-

WHY??
We take her out (she is walked on a leash) and she goes but then without any notice, she's peeing upstairs again.

I am trying to be tolerant, but this morning I about lost it. I had her on a leash in my room (its about 16 feet long)and she peed at the end of my bed in the middle of the night-

She didn't bark, whine or whimper just peed on the floor.

I put her water up early and she went twice before 9:00pm.

The vet put her on an antibiotic for a skin rash, but I am positive that the peeing started far before this medicine.

Any ideas?
I can shorten her leash at night, but I hate for her to not be able to walk around. I also don't want to have to keep her in the kitchen again because then she barks like an idiot all night.

What would you all suggest?
Can a dog get a UTI or some thing else that would cause this?

Help--- my carpet and patience can't take much more.

Hi, Holly.

Whenever a housetrained dog starts having accidents, the first thing to rule out is a medical issue. Just as you said, a possible UTI, crystals, etc.
Ask your vet to collect a sample of her urine at the clinic.

PS: Adorable photos!
thanks--
She finishes her medicine for her skin on Monday and has to go for a re-check-
I am going to ask him to check her while she's in.
She knows when she does it that she's in touble-- and she hunkers down and wont look at you. It's actually funny to watch her-- if you weren't cranky that you have to drag the bissell out again to clean the carpet.

She a great dog--- but pee-peeing in the house is a big NO NO!!!

When taking her in, make sure you want them to collect urine while she is there for her re-check. They will ask you to try not to let her urinate before going in .. though that's a tough one if she has a UTI.

IF she has a UTI she cannot help but to pee in the house. Sometimes the urge to go comes on faster than they can make it to the door. It is also very painful, and many pets will seek out a soft or comfortable space to pee.

Please don't punish her for urinating. Whether she has a UTI or not, punishment for doing a natural bodily function will only increase unwanted behavior.

I know it's frustrating, but when she urinates in the home, simply walk with her outside, see if there is anything left in her bladder to empty and if so, praise her for a job well done.

Then, back in the house get out your little green machine and happily or at least casually clean the carpet.

She's a dog. She thinks like a dog. Sometimes we have to do that too.
If the peeing staerted before she was put on antibiotics, then she might have had a UTI since then.

Taking a urine sample while on antibiotics will not work, as the UTI will not show up...You have to be off the antibiotics for a few days and then re-try.

Don't punish her for doing this. It is either due to health reasons or behavioral reasons...Both ways she needs to be figured out, understood and treated properly so it goes away.

She does not do it on purpose...and she doesn't look guilty because she did it. She looks guilty because you are upset, so she gets all submissive-like to pacify you. She needs patience and understanding to get through this, or she will start to react her stress through otehr avenues.

I would keep her away from any carpet at thsi time. She may have "learned" that this is the place to pee, and it is much..much more diffucult to get the scent out of a carpet.

Good luck!
