Shedding question?

Our 1 year old puppy's coat is about 8 inches right now. I've noticed a TON more shedding and was wondering if it is because of the length or because it is winter and he is inside more, hence, I am noticing it more?

I would like to have him cut to about 4 inches because it is too much to groom right now but was wondering if that would help the shedding problem too?

Thanks!! :D

pup could be blowing their puppy coat.
Thanks for responding. How would I know if htat was the case? Is there a way to tell between that and actual shedding?
My 8 month old is doing that right now. He is losing puppy coat and getting adult coat every day. You pretty much have to brush them daily to remove the dead hair. Clipping him down will make it easier to groom, but he will still shed. They don't change their coats over completely until they are 2 years old I think. If anyone thinks it is longer...let us know. I remember 2 years with my last one.
By the way, it should stop when the coat is completely changed over.
Thank you so much for letting me know that!

I was beginning to wonder if I was doomed with a lifetime of serious shedding! :D
