Please make the barking stop!

Tucker barks. And barks and barks. Each evening, even AFTER we've gone for a nice walk, he's had food water and maybe a game, he starts this barking routine. He wants more walks. More play.
I know we are supposed to be the ones to set the routine for when we play and walk, so we just ignore him and he will EVENTUALLY go and lie down, but not before nearly driving us mad with the barking.
This evening I played with him, gave him affection, and gave him a treat ball then a kong to play with in the hopes he would tire himself out. To no avail.
Any ideas????

How old is Tucker? Does he get any walks besides the after work one? A lot of exercise is important.

Ignoring is one strategy. Two others that I have found to be effective are:

Coins in a pop can taped shut: shake the can and the clang of the coins startles the barking dog, breaking their concentration. Then, you can re-direct.

Water gun: Shoot the dog in the face--it isn't cruel or harmful but it does startle them--breaks the concentration of barking.

Mine have learned that leashes don't go on until you are quiet and sitting quietly. No leash = no walk. They love to go outside, but love walks even more.

No treat unless you are sitting quietly.

No affection unless you are sitting quietly.

No dinner unless you are sitting quietly.

Basically, it's part of nothing in life is free, and the first down payment is always quiet sitting.

It isn't perfect: I'm much stricter than my husband, and as a consequence, the dogs are much more quiet with me than with my husband, except when we're playing.
I never tried the coke can theory but sounds like it would work. I have four metal food and water bowls. Only use two at a time, BTW. One day he would not stop barking, so I slammed the two clean ones together. Once is all it took. Now I just pick them up and he gets quiet quick. I guess pots or pans would work as well.
This sounds like Baloo. He gets lots of affection and lots of long walks and plenty of play time and exercise..... and in the evenings he continuously wants to go out and just sits on the edge of the patio and barks, barks, barks!!!! Drives me batty. In everything else (so far) he is just great. (Course I know we have not hit the teeneage rebellion stage yet)-- and we do not just let him sit there and bark to his content for no reason.... but he seems to just 'know' that the barking gets to me after a few minutes and he loves to taunt me.... I guess he feels any attention (good or bad) is worth it as long as it is constant.

LOL
How old is Tucker? Chauncey went through the barking stage, I believe it was between 6-9 mos old. It was always evening when he had his hyper period. It is pretty normal and he will out-grow this, but even 2 days of this stage seems like forever.
Oliver is in this barking stage right now, he is about a year old. We tried everything we could think of to no avail. Until one day, while watching Super Nanny, we got the idea to put him in "time-out" when he starts barking. If Oliver starts barking for no reason, he goes in the bedroom by himself with the doors shut. He stays in there for about 15 minutes, then can come out, and play with Mommy and Daddy. This has worked amazingly! If he does start barking, we just have to say "TIME-OUT", and he runs to the sofa and lays down.

Same principle of ignoring the bad behavior, rewarding the good, but with a spin. We couldn't stand the 2-inches-from-the-face barking!
When Nigel starts barking in the evening I have to catch him and lay him on his side and "settle" him. He gets the zoomies too, and the few seconds-minutes of the settle seems to redirect him. He will usually go and lie down after that. He is 8 months old.
